Hello Kenny and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your baby grey. Of course you are welcome and we are happy you are going to be a grey owner. Have you ever owned a grey before? Do you have any other parrots? Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any other pics of your baby you would like to share with us we would love to see them, especially as he/she grows and develops as we love to see the babies.

Boy this is a real turnaround, here you were thinking you would have to wait months to get your grey and you may be bringing it home tomorrow, wow you are getting it done. This is what is so special about belonging to forums, the connections you find when you are looking for something. I know Bruce will be overjoyed about you purchasing from the same place he got his cockatoo. Please let us know if you do bring this grey home tomorrow and I want to see pictures too.

Then you all need to come to the USA, we have lots of pretty days and sunshine.
-
Mark you better be careful of having Max out without a harness on, remember others have lost their greys that way, I would hate to see you lose him but he is enjoying the sunshine and the pretty company. she is a cutie:)
-
Thanks Tracy for finding that link to the African names.
-
I would imagine cracking them in half would be necessary because a walnut is big enough that a grey couldn't get it in their beak to crack it open, but also to check that it is a good nut.

Congrats Claire on it being a girl and Violet is a lovely name too, she is your little flower:P

My pleasure JC for a man that loves to cook and does windows, too bad girls as this one is taken. B)

Hello Maxxheadroom and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Gizmo. Now that name is familiar to me, seems like it was a show that used to be on TV named that but that was a long time ago so you must not be very young, am I right? Gizmo sounds like he will be talking very soon, those mumbles and whistles usually come first then the words, pretty soon you will hear whole sentences and not just words. You have probably already read thru the threads here then but if not do read as many as you can for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get some answers and help you in any way we can. I see you have read our minds and included a pic of Gizmo, he is a good looking grey and thanks for sharing him with us.

I'm glad to hear some progress is being made by Dorian, she is starting to want to be close to the rest of the flock and that is motivating her to do what she has been cautious about until now. Patience indeed will pay off and she is proof of it. They are smart birds as they only have to hear something once to repeat it over and over again until you get sick of it but it is so funny to hear all those sounds come out of their beak, you have to watch what you say around them thats for sure.
-
Looks good to me too Big_Squishy, she seems to really care for her birds and I like the fact that she won't sell them before they are fully weaned. I am sure she will help you to decide on which baby is the right one for you and do go as many times as possible to see the babies or at least have her send you updates and/or pictures so you can see the growth and difference a little time makes in their development. Congrats on finding a place to purchase your baby and do keep us informed as this plays out, I am excited for you and you will be so anxious for that day to come that you can bring it home and lavish love on it.

As long as he is not really biting it is ok, he is exploring his world and one of the ways to do that is with the beak, they would use it like we do our hands. Now if he gets to biting down harder then you might have to tell him firmly "no bite" and put him back on the perch and walk away for a few minutes to teach him that is not allowed. He looks like he is enjoying chewing on that clothespin at least thats what it looks like. B)

We have kind of celebrity greys here already, Heather's Harrison graces one of the pages in Bird Talk but I guess movies take higher status over a magazine, but then all our greys are celebrity material in my book.
-
Oh boy it looks like Biggles had a good time outdoors Amy, thanks for sharing that with us, gives us hope that others can be able to take their greys outside for a bit of fresh air. B)
-
Dan that was your way of proving you took the picture right, "crazy looking fellow" at least I didn't say it, someone else thinks like thoughts:laugh:

Carol, it doesn't sound good does it, I am so sorry to hear this, maybe he will beat the odds and make it after all, at least that is what I am praying for. I know you and Matthew are hurting but please don't berate yourself, sometimes these things happen and there is not anything you could have done to prevent it. I think Bobby will be glad to see his loved ones and if it turns out to be the last time then he knows you loved and adored him. Hopefully he will be able to hold on and make it thru this difficult time for that is what I pray for but in any case I will keep Bobby and his flock in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the next update has better news.
-
I doubt the color will make any difference, but she looks lovely there in the sunshine in her pink harness, thanks for sharing that with us Siobhan.

I would hardly think that at 10 weeks of age that he was weaned already, don't you have to reduce the number of feedings until they are eating solid foods for a while. I don't know much about handfeeding as I have never done that but Tracy will be the one to give the best advice.
-
Poor Bobby is a sick little fella right now and my heart goes out to you and him for I know you are very worried as I would be but he will make it thru this hurdle, just have faith that he will pull thru and be home with his flock very soon. Please keep us updated Carol and I will keep you and Bobby in my thoughts and prayers for a speed recovery. No arguments here Carol, I don't think Falconeer had read all the posts in this thread for if he had he would know that Harrison's pellets were not to blame for Bobby's or Alex's troubles.
-
Sandra, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you and Miss Lucy, I guess it was just not meant to be. Glad you got to meet one of the members of the forum, that is always exciting when you are able to do that, I have been here almost a year now and I have yet to meet the first one but I have plans to meet several of them in the coming year.
-
Falconeer, Harrison's pellets are not deadly, please read thru Dave007's post in this thread for information that will explain this misconception.
-
Carol I am glad to hear that you found another vet closer to you and Bobby was seen and given meds, sometimes when one door closes another one opens and it did for you. Do not be sorry about only talking about your problem with Bobby, we fully understand how you feel, he is first and foremost in your mind right now and only other bird people will relate to that. You can be more socialable and tell us more about you and Bobby when he is feeling better. Please keep us informed of his progress as we do care about Bobby, after all he is family along with you.

Photobucket is the way to go, a lot of us use it for posting pics.

I just about busted a gut laughing at the second pic, wasn't there when I checked the first time I posted, now that is truly funny, what a great stunt that is, tell me how long you had to work on getting him to do that, thanks so much for sharing that one with us, you never fail to amuse me and I hope you never do.
