  1. Jungle_Jane, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you and Nando.
  2. It's a BOY!!! congrats on your new little boy and his name is Ace, I had a dog, a lab, that was named Ace but that was years ago. Unfortunately it will seem like forever but it will be here soon enough and then you will have him for a lifetime of happiness, good things come to those who wait.
  3. You do what you have to do and I hope you can find some help in this Dr. Rosskopf, no one here expects any less from someone who has the situation you have, I would be exhausting all possibilities if in your shoes. All I ask is to keep us informed of whatever you find out.
  4. Kitt the funny thing about her mimicing the sun conure's scream is she will tell her to shutup, she screams then says shutup and sometimes when the sun conure screams she tells her to shutup, sometimes she says it like two words, shut up with a slight pause between the words, of course I have my hubby to thank for that:angry: Letting you spread her wings is very good as some members here that have had their greys for a lot longer can't even do that much, count yourself lucky.
  5. Welcome back Kitt and it looks like Starbuck had a severe wing clip, much too short for a grey with their heavy body. Their wing feathers will come in gradually and not at the same time as they usually shed a few at a time so as not to be flightless when they were in the wild. A lot of greys do not like some veggies but keep offering them in the hopes that one day she will start eating them. I can sympathize with the mimicing of the cockatiels call as Josey does with my sun conure's screams, she can do it better than the conure does but that is to be expected so just ignore it as best as you can.
  6. Pat I am so sorry to hear of this diagnosis and that seems odd to me too of it occuring at 10 years of age. But then if she ate people food before she came to you and they ate a lot of fatty type foods then no wonder. I hope you can find another vet to get a second opinion and that something can be done for her, she is a precious part of your family and as such you would do anything for her. Keep us posted as to what if anything you find out.
  7. Leah, you truly do have a little sweetheart, Yogi is the perfect choice especially when he chose you and your life is so blessed for that. Glad to hear he is such a delight to have and I love that little description you gave, "He's got my heart tight in his little talon", hey maybe you should put that in your signature!!!:cheer:
  8. I'm so jealous and that was certainly a hoot, too bad you didn't catch it on video as it would have been priceless, maybe next time LMAO:laugh: :woohoo:
  9. No Dan, Dave is not too much, he is just about right!!!
  10. Carol you just made my day, I can't think of anything that would make me any happier at this moment, our prayers are answered and now he is on the mend. Good job from the vet in finding out what was Bobby's troubles and now he will get exactly what he needs to get over this. I know Bobby will be as excited to see you as you him and soon he will be back home with his flock, he is a lucky little fella to have such a loving home and a mommie who adores him, all birds should be so blessed. Thanks for the update and I look forward to hearing more encouraging news later but he is still in my thoughts and prayers for now.
  11. Oh boy, my gut instincts were correct, it is a girl and I like that name Whisper, she sounds like an absolute dream, thanks for letting us know and for the update.
  12. But the perfect man does not exist does it Dave but that is a nice idea for men who want to score points with a woman by having soft supple hands, works for me {Love-00020119}
  13. I can understand that and you do want to know before you give him/her a name but there is plenty of time for that.
  14. Every time you go to visit him/her you can take some pictures and post them in this thread and we can follow the progress of development, it is so interesting to see them grow and change.
  15. "He" looks healthy to me too, and I assume you will have "him" DNA tested so you can either stick with the he or go with she.:cheer:
  16. Thanks Pat for the link, those are some interesting and appealing recipes, might have to try one or two of them.
  17. "He" is adorable but then I have never seen one that wasn't, what a cutie pie and July seems such a long time off but will be here before you know it, thanks for sharing "him" with us.
  18. Good idea Tracy, now is not the time to worry about it being junk food as long as it is something to eat and an excellent idea about getting some water in her.
  19. Jimmy don't fret over one pulled tail feather, maybe it was bothering him in some way, now if he continues to pull feathers then it might be time to consider what is the reason but don't make trouble where there isn't any for the time being. If he is otherwise doing fine then leave well enough alone. So is school almost over for Jimmy?
  20. I feel so bad for you and there is nothing we can do but listen but sometimes that helps so you vent all you want. I have heard that phrase before, "I think he just walked in" when on the phone but give him the benefit of the doubt, he might have been on the phone about another sick bird but keep at them as he can't stay on the phone forever.
  21. I didn't know that Tracy, makes sense too that they would need the extra heat and then when the illness is over the heat can be reduced gradually to more normal, thanks so much for explaining that to us, karma your way dear.
  22. No actually I have never heard of a sock buddy but I can see how it might help a plucking bird, its worth a shot to at least try it, better than the collar, those are hideous things. Poor thing and I know it rips your heart out to see her do this but not a whole lot you can do to prevent it but let us know if it does help:huh:
  23. You can put nuts or nutraberries inside or pieces of dried fruits would be good too. BTW, you need to edit the link as it does not work as it is, the http:// is repeated, remove it and it works fine.
  24. I have never heard of having to keep the birds in that warm a room except for the very young babies but if that is what the vet recommends then he would know. If I was you I would get a smaller cage that is wider than it is tall and either put the perches down real low or remove them at bedtime so she has to squat on the floor to sleep. I would put some old towels down with newspapers on top and that would cushion her. I know how it is when you are waiting for a phone call from someone, you do feel so helpless but you need to keep it together for her sake, she needs you now and we are here to supply moral support if you need us.
