  1. Yeah the flash kind of takes some away from the pic but you can tell it has a lot of color and I can see a little of the snake's head and tongue in the upper left portion, thanks for sharing it with us and I hope you find the others, I want to see them.
  2. Hello Tammy and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Notsu, what a lovely name!! I am sorry to hear she is not living with you right now but was very good thinking to remove her from a maybe nasty situation such as a divorce. Good that she is well adjusted and is getting along fine with friends but you must miss her so much but glad to hear she is coming home soon. You hit the nail on the head with that statement, "There is nothing like being a flock member with a grey!" as that pretty much sums it up for all of us greyt owners. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to find some answers for you and help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing a pic of you and Notsu, she is a lovely looking grey and her mom is very proud of her.
  3. That was a very well written piece and you put a lot of thought into it Dan and it puts owning a parrot in the proper perspective, thanks for doing this and it deserves to be where everyone can read it especially prospective new grey owners. Karma coming your way my "man"  B)
  4. Ahem, I have a new one on my avatar, have you noticed!!! But yes I will get some more up of Josey if it so pleases you Dan, wouldn't want my man disappointed now would I!!! B)
  5. Lets roll, I'm up for it!!!:laugh: Good morning everyone and a lovely morning it is here, sunny with a high in the low 80's, the third day of a 3-day weekend with this glorious weather we are having. Hope it is nice wherever you live too, enjoy...... {Feel-good-00020114}
  6. Fon, it is not just the time and attention it will require as a baby but for the rest of his/her life. A grey is a lifetime committment, what kind of time you spend with it as a baby will have to be continued throughout it's lifetime. With the schedule you describe, that would be adequate enough for a grey as most of us do work outside the home and our greys are in their cage for that duration. I am gone from 7:30 am until around 5 pm and Josey is out usually as soon as I get home and remains out until she goes to bed around 9:30 or so. You don't have to spend the whole evening interacting with your grey but they do require some personal time with you. Most of the out of cage time is spent on a playstand or similar arrangement just being in the same area with you as they are flock animals and want to be with their family. Of course Josey gets more attention on the weekends when I am home all day but that just mostly means that she is out of the cage more, I still spend about as much time actually interacting with her as I do any other day. In other words don't spend more time with them as babies than you will have to spend with them for the rest of their lives as that is how some owners get themselves in trouble when they don't keep up that level of involvement. I would suggest you do a lot of researching and reading whatever you can get your hands on for lots of information to help you in your decision but if you really want a grey and are willing to make the lifetime committment then you won't be disappointed, they are awesome creatures and we all of us here love ours unconditionally. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room.
  7. Tyco is very beautiful and maybe she wanted her picture taken, she doesn't look to be protesting too much, good job Pat on getting her to stand for a couple of shots to share with us.
  8. Joined at the hip, well good for you Berna, if anyone could make her come around it would be you. She is a beautiful bird, maybe one that should keep her wings down:blush: or she shows her nakedness but thanks for sharing her with us. Something tells me Berna would own both Pattie and Sasha if she could, am I right!!!
  9. It could very well be the light, thats some good detective work there Penny and I hope this is what it turns out to be for it's a simple solution but too bad that Talon had to go thru those meds for nothing if this is what it turns out to be. Keep us posted:dry:
  10. She's a beauty Berna, even though she is a plucker and looks like she wants to step up for you in one pic, I'm so glad she has you to care for her and love her and you can tell she returns the favor. Thanks for sharing Pattie with us.
  11. Dorian looks to me like he was enjoying himself outside for a change of scenery and a breath of fresh air. Thanks for sharing those pics with us. You certainly are having a time with him getting him out of the cage but keep at it, in time it will get better and maybe one day you will be able to have him step up with no problem.
  12. Thanks Graehstone for posting that poem being that Monday May 26 is Memorial Day, a day to remember all those who served and died for us while protecting our freedoms and our country. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the veterans on this forum, some of them I know of and some I don't but you have my undying gratitude, I love you all. Dan I didn't know you were a Vietnam Veteran but I do now, thanks........
  13. Thanks for sharing that with us Graehstone, they are all too true:laugh:
  14. Leave it to Dan to come up with the idea of the "ancient art of poopology", none of us may have studied it but we all take lessons in it firsthand every day. If there is any question about your bird's poops being normal a call into the vet's office is required.
  15. Thats cute of Dayo doing his best to take a bath and I could hear the sweet voice of a small grandchild too in the background, thanks for sharing that with us. B)
  16. Oh boy I'll just bet it wouldn't:laugh: but you can send the entire thing to me in an email if you wish, I would like to see the whole thing. You are very talented Graehstone, you write, you draw, take very good pictures, love greys and you have a very likeable sense of humor, you are like a breath of fresh air, thanks so much for sharing these with us.
  17. Me either Penny and I enjoy the pics that Graehstone has posted and even that one that Dan so eagerly shared, remind me not to bend over like that, jeez what a sight but it did make me laugh...
  18. That was very scary Mary and I don't blame you for refusing to allow him on you but I think this can be overcome in time. I echo Dan and Terri's comments, he has some baggage that you might not know about that might explain what he did but you will have to be more careful in allowing him that close again. until he learns that is not acceptable. I like Terri's suggestion of documenting trends so that you can maybe get a pattern of triggers and his behavior from them but he does need to be told "no bite" when he goes to bite and be put back in his cage or back on a perch for a short period of time to learn this is not acceptable behavior.
  19. I am so sorry Pat that you have to give your too up but there is not much you can do if it affects your health that way, you do have to come first. But at least he has a new home with people who will give him the same love he came to know from you plus you will be able to visit with him so you have not lost him completely. Like Dan said, it is a win-win situation. There is another bird out there for you if you have the need in your heart to fill that hole left by this too so I bet soon we will be hearing about that one but in the meantime we know and feel your pain.
  20. Hello Tweety and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your quest to own a grey. You have certainly come to the right place if you are interested in acquiring a grey and our members will tell you anything you want to know about them and what awesome creatures they are. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful and helpful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have. We will do our best to find some answers for you and help you in any way we can.
  21. Awww that is so cute Tracy, now if that doesn't bring a smile to Tari's face then I don't know what will:)
  22. Thanks:blush: but you don't have to do that, I don't do cheerleading for karma, I just love doing it:side: :silly:
  23. I don't have a cute pic or story but what a good idea Tari, for a good smile or they can make us roll around on the floor laughing our heads off, either one works for me:laugh:...Graehstone, you are always good for a smile or laugh, come on and give us your best shot!!
  24. Dan is right on with his advice, greys typically do not get along with other species or even another grey so separate cages are a must. A lot of the members here have more birds than just their grey or greys and they handle the out of cage time for each very nicely. You do bring up a good point but whichever bird is first to belonging to your household then that bird needs to be first in everything so it knows it is the top dog, so to speak. I envy you for your being able to have a hyacinth, they are majestic creatures and very beautiful but much too large and expensive for me to handle. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room.
  25. Hello Andy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Baron. Thats so sad that you and Baron are separated at the moment but hopefully that can be corrected very shortly for you have been given some excellent advice on how to go about a reunion of the two of you. I'm sure he missed you very much as was apparent from his reaction when you went back to visit and it would be a shame if you two cannot get back with one another soon. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to find some answers and help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing that little clip of Baron going after your belt, I have never seen a grey lay on his back like that and play with something for more than a minute, he seems to enjoy playing in that position.
