  1. Thanks Berna for getting this thread back on topic:laugh: but it was fun while it lasted:lol:
  2. Josey almost keeps a orangish tint to the skin that is just next to her beak but that comes from the oatmeal I feed her every morning with the red palm oil in it, she dribbles a little out of the corner of her beak and it stains her skin:pinch: :side:
  3. In my opinion Kinga it is not all that bad, I don't notice the dust too much and it is recommended to give them a bath at least two or three times a week, that helps to keep the dust down. You tend to see more when they are going thru a molt so a bath can be given more often to help with the pin feathers.
  4. Well who else but us bird friends would understand how you feel and if you lost a couple of friends because you wouldn't go then they could not have been much of friends to do that to you. Don't you worry Caroline, we love you unconditionally because of the birds. That Tracy is a good woman isn't she:kiss:
  5. Well thats great that you will be designing a cage for your fiance to build but if you make it with wood the grey will chew it to bits unless you line it with metal, greys love to destroy anything made out of wood.:pinch:
  6. Bunnies are cute but the only rabbits we had when the kids were still at home were for eating so we never made pets out of them:blush: Tracy, why don't you share a picture of that rabbit you adore, hun;)
  7. I don't have any experience with psoriasis but from the replies you have received so far it seems it would not be a problem for your partner or the grey. I too look forward to seeing this new baby Kinga:)
  8. Caroline I am so sorry you are not going on the holiday with your hubby and son but that is your decision and I support you in that and if I lived close by I would have watched out for those two so you could go and enjoy yourself. But hey, look on the bright side, now we have the pleasure of your company here so you won't get lonely, Tracy and I won't let that happen will we!!
  9. Well Happy Hatchday to Charlie and since you don't know the exact date the date you picked works just fine, oh and congrats to you on your anniversary:) B)
  10. Istion, you are going to have to keep the grey separated away from the cockatiels, greys do not usually get along with any other birds even their own kind unless they are clutch mates. Your grey will maim or kill them if allowed to get close, you will need to allow them separate out of cage time. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room.
  11. Ozzie is a good looking chap, hard to believe he can inflict such pain but that is how it goes sometimes. Yes it will be a long road but one day it will be worth it for the rewards you reap and probably him seing how you have so much fun with Timmy will only help it along, heres wishing you the best of luck in your endeavor to win the heart of Ozzie. Thanks for sharing that pic with us, I assume the FAQ section helped you with that.
  12. You must be very excited if you bought a "ton" of beans and seeds, I know, its just an expression but I had to laugh:woohoo:
  13. Dina you have a rough road to travel in getting Ozzie to trust you and/or at least tolerate you, some greys do favor one sex over the other and Ozzie has chosen males and there is not much you can do about it. Continue to talk to him, go sit by his cage and read the newspaper or a book to him, offer him treats but this will be a slow process so be prepared to spend a lot of time and be very patient for this will not happen overnight. We have a FAQ section that has the instructions on posting pics on the site and in the threads, read thru it and if you need any more help just ask:)
  14. Hello Twojs and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Big Bird and Merle. Wow thats amazing that you have had Big Bird since he was a 1 week old baby, you two must have an amazing relationship to be together that long. That is so sad what happened to Merle but I am sure you have had more success with him than you give yourself credit for, 2 years sounds like a long time but what happened to him was very traumatic and his life has greatly improved I'm sure. Take a little time and read thru some of the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Big Bird and Merle you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  15. She is a lovely looking Tag and you can see her scissor beak in the second shot and I see what you mean by her raised eyebrow, it does look like she has something to say, thanks for sharing her with us.
  16. Hello Dina and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ozzie. How long have you had Ozzie now, if only for a few weeks or even a couple of months its not long enough, it takes lots of time for him to settle in and bond with you especially if he is known for hating women. Do you know anything about his past, his former owner, was it a woman, these are things you need to know and it may explain why he is the way he is today. Its possible he was mistreated by a woman and that is why he hates them. But in any case it can be ovecome but not without lots of time and patience on your part. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Ozzie you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  17. Hello Budman and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Tracy. What a wonderful story of Tracy and your relationship with him, it's so heartwarming to hear these kind of stories with a happy ending and it just goes to show that time and patience can bring great rewards. Tracy carries on quite the conversation doesn't he, I especially love this section::laugh: """Tracy: Want a peanut? Marcie: No I don't want a peanut. Tracy: Well, *in the tone you can imagine* I do.""" Please read thru the many threads for lots uf useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Tracy you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  18. Likewise Tracy, I love the blue ones and if I ever did get a quaker it would have to be blue, thanks for sharing it with us.B)

    Joey's turn

Aww he is so cute Tari and I love the way he is posing, thanks for sharing that with us.
  20. Hello Tony and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Fluffy. Sounds like the two of you are in tune with one another and that is so special for not all of us can say that about our greys and he obviously knows you well. That is so endearing that he is so polite, saying thank you and he has quite a wide vocabulary of words, I have never counted all the words that my Josey says but it is far from Fluffy's count, you must be so proud of him. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Fluffy you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  21. Yeah I can see how we would take second place to a cool mag:huh: ha ha, just kidding. So you're not new to birds just handfeeding baby ones, well you certainly came to the right place, we have a nursery room that is filled with all kinds of info on handfeeding and socializing your baby grey. We all want the same thing for our greys and believe me all our greys are spoiled rotten including mine, you gotta love them as they are so adorable.
  22. Don't be silly Tari, don't delete the post as there is nothing offending in what you posted, now if you had happened to have gotten that shot of him with his catch then you could have just kept that to yourself, we know it happens but we don't necessarily want to see it if we can avoid it. Sometimes it is a bird eat bird world, you just have to accept it:whistle:  :pinch:
  23. Hello Archna and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you especially since you didn't tell us anything in your introduction. I gather that you must have two new grey babies, but how old are they, what are their names, do you have any other parrots or birds? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your babies you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  24. I think you are too concerned about this as I don't see too much of a problem for like you I started out with a sun conure too and she and my grey do not like each other but they co-exist in the same room in separate cages. If I have them both out at the same time I just keep a distance between them and that is more for the sun than the grey. My sun is the more aggressive bird and she will try to nip at my grey if she can get close enough but if I keep them a little distance apart they are fine. You might want to continue to feed, water, let out of the cage and other things first with the sun since he was there first, so he knows his place after the grey gets there. I doubt they will ever be friends but they may learn to tolerate each other but I wouldn't worry about trying to find a stuffed grey as it won't fool the sun, just bring the grey in and introduce the two of them and don't give the sun any less attention than you do now or that could cause problems. I think you will enjoy the combination of a grey and a sun conure, I certainly do, as you know the sun is a screamer and your grey should be much quieter but don't be surprised if you hear the grey scream like the sun, mine does and then tells herself to shutup.
  25. Congrats to all the winners in the contest and especially Kristin for her entry of Makena, they were all good entries, even mine:blush: Dan how dare you suggest that the contest was rigged, just because you didn't win, well neither did I but you don't see me complaining do you, shut your trap up and quit your bellyaching:laugh:  we will just have to take better pictures won't we.:side:   Still friends:kiss:
