  1. I put about 1/4 teaspoon of the red palm oil in some food every day and I use the aloe vera juice straight out of the container with no dilution. Just be a little more patient, he will say what words and phrases he wants to say, yes they can only hear something one time and repeat it but only if they wanted to repeat it, give him more time and you will start hearing more and more words.
  2. Hello Aaron and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your quest for a grey. Thats so commendable of you to want to take in a rescue or rehomed grey and they do present a more difficult adjustment to a new home but the results can be very rewarding. You are doing the right thing in researching and learning all you can and you certainly came to the right place for help. If you haven't already please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. We will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can.
  3. I haven't read the entire document you provided a link for, that will require a little more time but I can't thank you enough for doing this. It looks like it was well thought out and provides good information that every bird owner should read and have handy if god forbid they find themselves in the same situation as you are in right now. My heart goes out to you right now and I cannot imagine what you are feeling but I pray that Tui will find his way home or someone will see him and return him to you.
  4. Nice pics of the horses Melissa and always good photos of Talon, she is so photogenic and you know how to bring out the best in her but next time keep her away from the curtains, you don't want to upset Mom any more than necessary, ok;) B)
  5. Yep she is ready for battle, thanks Pat for sharing that with us.B) :laugh:
  6. I bet you did all three, celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music......................... {Communicate-0002011B}

  9. Thats so funny, but some of them never learn do they, my sun conure thinks she is big stuff too but she does not pay any attention to Josey unless I have both of them on my shoulder at the same time but it is one on each shoulder.:side:
  10. Hello Scorpio and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and these two greys. You didn't tell us much so what are the names of your babies and do you know their sex? Are they clutchmates? Do you have any other parrots or birds? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.   12. Laurie is fired up and she should be, her Red Wings won the Stanley Cup, yah for her team {Sports-000200E4}
  13. You're so right Mary, if they can't agree on a bird then how can they agree on children. Kinga you have a decision to make and only you can make that but you have our support whether or not you have a grey right now, but I see there is going to be one in your future so you do what you have to and be happy.
  14. Great photos of Tracy, thanks for sharing them with us. You say you have to pull his talons off you, I imagine he is unsure of his footing for the time being and when he becomes more comfortable with you and you moving around with him on you he will ease up a bit, just give him time and be patient with him. You are doing a great job with him so far.
  15. I like the name of Phoenix and it could be for a boy or a girl but I agree with the end of the name sounding like e is easier for them to say, just like my Josey is e sounding and she can say it very well.
  16. I think they tend to pick up words and phrases that there is an emphasis on how it is spoken, like for instance Josey picked up shutup because when it was used it had much emphasis on the pronunication.
  17. Yes please post a pic if you can, I would like to see that and it may very well molt out so preserve it in a photo.:cheer:
  18. How about, "Watch this, see how far I can sling this cherry" {Feel-good-0002006E}
  19. That is so special to hear too, thanks for sharing that with us Tari.
  20. My Josey still does a little scratching from time to time and it is an attention getting thing, she wants me to come and get her, she isn't close enough I guess.:unsure: :lol:
  21. OMG, Josey was two last month, am I in for a rude awakening with some biting coming on, I hope not as she is the sweetest thing right now.:ohmy: :whistle:
  22. Actually Josey doesn't much care for sunflower seeds, she leaves them in the bowl, she much prefers the pellets and that makes me happy as a clam. :)
  23. My sentiments exactly!! {Feel-good-0002006E}

  25. The wolf whistle was the first thing that Josey did and she learned that from my hubby but she talks up a storm now and occasionally she throws in a whistle or two. Should I be sorry that he did that Dave because I don't think so:huh: :dry:
