  1. Dan, you dang skippy I do when you see crows pulling up shoots of new corn because they know that a corn kernal is on the other end, yes that shows their intelligence but that gets them in trouble if you catch my drift, besides they are in the food chain too and there seems to be an abundance of them here so let the hawks have a few of them. I know this might anger some bleeding hearts out there but a lot of wildlife ends up as another animal's dinner, thats the way of life in the wild.
  2. I'm so glad my Josey is not a closet talker:whistle:
  3. I don't get into hockey unless I step into it:sick::laugh: but if the Red Wings are your team Laurie then I hope they win;) B)
  4. I know hun you are in the wrong time zone, period, but then that is my opinion and may not be the same opinion of others:S
  5. Congrats Melisa, he has hello down very well, oh yes this is a very good sign but give him a little time and he will be saying lots more. It usually starts slowly and then the barrage of words will spill out but I know you are tickled pink:cheer:
  6. Tony, be sure to take me up on my offer to introduce yourself in the welcome room so we can get to know you a little better:) B)
  7. Oh I knew it wasn't the red tailed hawk, I was just commenting that is was a smaller hawk. Dan, thankfully I have been spared that sight of a hawk catching its prey in flight but it would be an awe inspiring sight to see and the fact that it was a crow makes it a little easier to think about.
  8. """I loved that last picture he looks so intelligent and cunning.""" Oh yeah, those hawks all have that look about them, after all they are on the food chain too for something bigger than they are. I don't know what type of hawk that is but it doesn't look like a very big one, we have the red tailed ones here too, I occasionally see them and some I have seen are huge birds, much larger than the one in your pics.
  9. """I knew he might but was really surprised to see it and didn't get a shot of it.""" Thank goodness for that Tari, not sure I would have wanted to see that but I know he has to eat too but why can't he stick with rats and mice and not our pretty birds. Thanks Tari for sharing that with us and let that be a reminder that they are out there and they will eat our companion pets if we aren't careful when we have them outside or they escape to the outside because we weren't paying attention.:pinch:
  10. You maybe should consult an avian vet just to be sure about the bleach/water getting into her eye and causing some damage, better to be safe than sorry. I would continue to handle her the same way you have always handled her and soon she will get over this as she was reacting to your reaction. You got all upset over this incident and so did she and her reaction is natural. But now that it is over she will settle down and go back to her normal self but how long that will take depends on your bird, some get over it quickly and some take longer. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room.
  11. Gosh Mark that is a very clever suggestion, I don't have a web cam but some of the members probably do and having a motion detector on it makes perfect sense, thanks for sharing that with us and maybe Tony can make use of the idea.
  12. My Josey talked at 1 year of age, before that she mimiced other sounds and did what I call jibberish so yours will too, just give it time.
  13. Melisa, whatever name you pick for your baby will be fine and I am not going to pick my favorite as this is your decision to make and whether you have him/her DNA tested before you name it. Heather, Harrison having a boy's name is cute in my book and I wouldn't explain it to everyone who asks about why you named her that, just say thats her name and you're sticking with it.B)
  14. Thanks Shanlung for posting that link for a very good read and you and Dan share some good and similar thinking on these matters. """Let there be no end to the research that you are doing. Its time to worry when you think you know it all and need not learn more.""" So very true!!!
  15. I know some people who I would like to remove from the gene pool but that is another story........... I would be lying if I said the talking ability didn't have a small factor in why I was drawn to the grey but I wanted a larger parrot than the sun conure and also one that was not quite as loud. But their intelligence is what made the decision for me and now that I have her I could not imagine life without her.
  16. I agree that if he is over preening he would do it to both sides and not just one. My suggestion is he is doing it while playing with one of his toys in the cage, so maybe shift around his toys to different places and see if there is any difference in the appearance of the right wing feathers. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and Fluffy.
  17. Thanks for the heads up and link on this for us Spooky, I look forward to this tonight.
  18. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Meko when you can put them up.B)
  19. Oh yeah this is more like it, your pecs are better in this shot, that routine of yours is really working then huh:laugh: :whistle: {Love-0002006D}

  21. Not so fast my pretty Bet I can get out there before you can, just watch me.. zoommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm gone!!
  22. Yeah right, if that was really you I would be on the next plane out but we all know the truth, in your dreams man, in your dreams:lol:  B)
  23. Me too and you know you can't leave us women waiting......................................:side: :silly:
  24. Sounds yummy Tracy, is this one of your recipes as you didn't mention a contributor. I may have to try this one as Josey does love sweet potatoes.:cheer: :cheer:
  25. I would but I don't see anything:ohmy: but I like your routine but don't think it would work for me:(
