  1. I made friends with a freezer, sometimes two of them a long time ago, living with a hunter I found out that it is one of life's necessities and comes in handy when you are fixing batches of fid foods.
  2. I watched Julie and no wonder you want one, that first one was the cutest, I hope one day you get to make that hahns macaw addition.
  3. Hello Greystar and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Star. Since Star has only been with you for two days he is still unsure of his surroundings, he needs reassurance that you are still there and that is why he is calling for you. Greys are flock animals and you are part of his flock now and as he becomes comfortable in his new home he will settle down just continue to be there but not necessarily come to him when he calls. Josey did this too and sometimes all it took was a answer back from me to let her know I was still around even if she couldn't see me. I take it you are new to parrots and this is your first grey, maybe first parrot so be sure to read thru as many of the threads here for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have, no matter how silly them may seem as we have heard all kinds before, and we will help you in any way we can. Now all we need is some pictures of Star for we love pictures here and if you need some help with doing that then read this thread: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/photography-room/89533-how-to-post-picturesphoto-tuturial.html
  4. Houdini is a very good name, I like it a lot and it fits. I wouldn't worry about him not wanting to eat the grapes, they have very little nutritional value so if he doesn't like them thats ok, most use them for treats. Be sure to give him a wide variety of foods and you will soon learn what he likes and dislikes and the ways he prefers it be it cooked, raw, mashed or whatever. Thats great that he can settle down for a nap in a busy household, that means he is comfortable and he is settling in very nicely. I can't wait to see those pictures of Houdini napping, those are so precious.
  5. We havent heard from you in a while Lyn, its nice to see you back on the forum but it seems that Brutus is well and enjoying himself and life. What a character he is asking the vet that question, you didn't say what the vet replied but glad to hear he checks out in fine shape. The modest little fella, maybe you should get him a mirror so he can keep check on his looks without having to dump his food.
  6. Nicole, here are three links to some good threads on foods to offer and nutrition for greys, I also included one with some recipes, I hope you find them helpful. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/112983-nutrition-&-diet.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/102331-simple-grey-recipescookbook.html
  7. My limit is the two I have though I have wanted to add another to the mix but with working a full time job I don't feel I have any more time to devote to another bird, maybe when I retire but then I myself won't live long enough to warrant getting another bird so two it stays.
  8. I am so sorry to hear of this news, I too was shocked to see this post but you are doing all you can to try and find him, if you haven't already put his cage outside with some food in it in case he does return. Dan has given you some sound advice and since he speaks from personal experience then your chances of getting Chikki back are greatly increased. I hope and pray that you find Chikki very soon and that he remains safe and sound until you do and please keep us informed.
  9. Sounds like a good plan, I might not do one a day but one a week is doable! Thanks for the REMINDER!:cheer:
  10. Well Pat to be truthful if you are afraid of bringing such a large bird into your house maybe you should rethink this before doing it for you know as well as anyone that if you are truly scared of large birds that bird will know it and react to it, maybe you are just nervous since it is the first large bird but if you really want this bird and today is the day then get over it quick. I personally think you will do fine, this is a big step for you but I think you can handle it, now go and get that bird for we want to see some pics of it.:cheer:

Yeah I hear ya, its only in theory here too and I hear some ice cream calling me right now!
  12. That sounds pretty serious Sanggay and I probably would have freaked out and called a vet but since you didn't have that option you took care of it yourself, thank goodness you have some knowledge to help you with this situation. I am so glad it turned out well for you and Koko and thanks for sharing a few pics of her with us.

  14. Deb your baby is so cute, thanks for sharing these pics of your new baby.
  15. Those last two pics are so precious, she looks like a little angel, that last shot is so special, wow what moment to capture.
  16. Dave once again has given you some solid advice and as others have commented he is the one we turn to when we need it. Even though he is right this is not a problem that can or will be fixed so quickly, give him some time and be patient with him and I am sure he will be back more to his old self very soon.
  17. You can give your grey some cooked egg be it boiled, poached or scrambled, just as long as it is cooked, no raw. I wouldn't feed it but a couple of times a week and not but about a fourth of a whole egg. Why don't you browse thru the bird food room for some ideas and suggestions for what you can feed your bird, we have lots of threads there with plenty of info.
  18. Thats pretty good advice and true, we tend to favor two syllable names, they roll off the tongue better that way hence my birds names are Sunny and Josey. I won't ask how you got button and peanut out of Cleo and Willow only you know for sure.
  19. She is adorable and she looks like she is starting to settle in to her new home, that first pic of her is so precious, I just love the dark eyes, thanks for sharing some pics of your new baby with us and keep us updated on her progress.
  20. The breeder is right about matching the bird to the right person and if you tell him just what you have told us then you should have no problem in proving you will be a good fit, good luck to you and keep us informed.
  21. You must be making another great bird toy, can't wait to see it, you will share it with us won't you!
  22. Thanks Shelia for letting us know that George has settled in ok and is looking better, please let us know if you hear anything more.
  23. Mine didn't come with a "flip up" button, guess I am out of luck!
