  1. I will post what I want to post and that may include advising people to spend less time with their birds if that fits the situation.
  2. Yes I am but it looks like I am up against a brick wall, lets just agree to disagree, you have your opinion and I have mine and I don't care to argue with you about it.
  3. """"Bird comes first. Screw your schedule, your work hours, everything else. If you can't accept that, rehome your bird. It's like having a child."""" I love my birds but they are not the number one in my household, I feel sorry for the other members of your family if this is the way you feel.
  4. Houdini is so cute sitting there sleeping, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  5. You dang skippy I am and I don't care if it sounds silly to you as it makes sense to me, I spend the amount of time I have with my fids and if you spend more with yours then good for you or better for your birds. And for your information I am glad I am not your mother either.
  6. """"Telling someone to spend less time with their companion because it's not the norm is ridiculous. That's not a matter of opinion."""" That IS your opinion and what I said is not ridiculous, we all have varying amounts of time we can spend with our fids and what works for one may not work for others but to me it makes sense that if you know you can't spend 4 hours a day every day then don't, if a parrot gets used to having 5 or 6 hours a day then a new baby or something comes along and that time is cut to half that then the parrot suffers.
  7. Almost forgot about the worms, I really don't know if they would be harmful for the birds or not, maybe someone who knows will let us know.

  9. Since I use Harrisons I keep it in the package it comes in, thats what the bag suggests for the best storage, the inner lining is foil and it keeps it fresh as long as you close the zipper like opening. I know some people keep theirs in the refrigerator or freezer but I don't buy that much at one time.
  10. What a great idea Char, I haven't seen that particular ball, like you I have seen the smaller ones and they destroy them too fast but I do have something similar that might work just as well, thanks for the ideas Char.
  11. My birds want to come to live at your house Carol!
  12. Tango No one here has ever accused me of giving the "worst advice ever" and as I have been here for over two years and with lots of posts to my name I do take offense to what you wrote. I try to give good advice all the time and most of it is from personal experience, I might not be the smartest cookie in the pack but I feel I know what I am talking about. So maybe what I said was true and maybe what you said for your situation is true, does that make either of us wrong because we differ? I think not.

Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and others here will do what they can to help you.
  14. That looks totally awesome Carol and it only took you an hour, wow that is a great looking net, now how did the fids like it? You are so creative Carol, I am envious.
  15. Hello Noctor1404 and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey. Is this your first grey, first parrot? What country are you in? I am not sure what you mean by the paperwork side of things to be legal, maybe you can give us some more information so we can figure out what you are wanting for I am confused.
  16. Thanks Elisha for letting us know Indy is going to be just fine and taking his meds like a champ, the leather should work out well for hanging his toys.
  17. What a beautiful grey, Star is so lovely, I knew the link would help you and he is enjoying a bit of orange, thanks for sharing some pics with us.
  18. Isn't that the way it always happens, I know it does for me, well you will just have to wait a little longer but I hope you have no problem getting him into the carrier, my bet is on the nuts work.
  19. I just did one for today (patting myself on the back)
  20. Thats nice and good that you have lots of time to spend with your grey now but don't overdo it if you know you will have less time in the future like when a new baby comes. That is a big mistake to spend more time with them than you know you will not be able to keep up in the future, you might want to cut it back some so she doesn't count on it to be happy. That is a personal choice, we have members here who have more than one bird as I do and others who have more than one grey. The main thing is that any bird you get whether it is another grey or another parrot they may not get along. My two, Josey my grey and Sunny my sun conure do not get along but their cages are close to each other and they are company to each other when I am gone but they do not share a perch or playstand. I leave a radio on when I am gone so they have some background noise. Others will be along soon to add their opinions.
  21. With a glass enclosure it could get hot inside even with a screen front, some people here who use a night cage use a small travel type one. I personally don't use a sleep cage, Josey sleeps in her big cage and always has, it just works better that way but some swear by a separate sleep cage so whatever works is fine. Why dont you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
  22. OIC now Pat, forgive me for assuming you were afraid of the bird, I should have known better than to think you would but I guess you will just have to be very careful to keep that beak away from the woodwork since with that history you wouldn't want it destroyed.
  23. Dave007 wrote: Exactly, they really have no predators in a house environment except for the occasional cat or dog but in their natural habitat they have many and if one gets hurt there is no vet to take care of them so a lot of them die from their injuries.
  24. rbpittman wrote: Josey does that too and it is hilarious to watch her try to bathe in her water dish, the only thing she manages to get really wet is the floor. I found no on/off switch either, bummer!
  25. Dan is so right, Star needs more time to settle in and feel comfortable in his new home, two days is just not near enough, he does need the reassurance from you that he is safe and loved. He is already showing a preference to you and the bonding process is already started and I can imagine that the screaming or calling out for you will subside some as he feels safe and assured that you are around. Sometimes all he needs is a call back from you that you are still around even though he can't see you, he is calling for his flock. At this point he probably feels safer in his cage so he is hesitant to come out but just let him come out on his own, he will when he gets curious enough to find out more about the world around him, let him set the pace. Beaking is normal, that beak is kinda like our hand, he uses it to test and feel things but biting down hard is not acceptable and it is up to you to correct that. Dan gave some good advice on that so I will not repeat it here. I look forward to hearing more about Star and I bet he settles in very nicely in the coming weeks and months.
