  1. That is so sweet Davey I know Caitlin will love it, I know I do, you are a very talented man.
  2. Hello Cyndi and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Lil Einstein and Kiwi. Please do look around the nursery room for threads that will answer a lot of your questions on handfeeding and such. The whole site is loaded with useful information so read thru as much as you can and ask any questions and we will help you in any way we can. I can well imagine Kiwi is jealous as he was the only one and now he has to share the limelight with another grey. You need to make sure you feed and do things for Kiwi first so he knows his place as the number one bird since he was there first. Pecking order does matter and when you get that sorted out then maybe he will come around. Others here will be able to help you further with whatever problems you are having as we have a great group of knowledgeable members who are willing to help you. We love pictures here so if you have some of both greys you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  3. Harley knows he has landed into the lap of luxury, he has a nice new home, lots of good food, plentiful toys and a mommy who dotes on him and loves him with all her heart. I don't know which one of you is the luckiest.
  4. dhorje wrote: OMG, you wouldn't:blink:  I know you are just kidding, I couldn't resist it! What a smart grey you have, that is wonderful that Koko is smart enough to go potty before coming onto your wife's head, I think he got the message! PMSL:laugh:
  5. Hello Kymberly and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Gismo. You are right to be concerned, if the handfeeding is not done properly you can end up killing your baby, to be honest I wish breeders wouldn't sell unweaned babies but they do. You will find some good threads in the nursery room on handfeeding so be sure to read thru them. You will find loads of useful information here in our many threads so browse thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. You are doing exactly what is necessary to bond with your baby, you are f eeding, cleaning up after him and being with him, that is what bonding is and he wants to be a part of your flock, you and your husband are his family now and he will look to you for security and safety. I assume that is him in the pic in your avatar but if you have some others you would share with us we would love to see them.
  6. Don't worry about it, a mod will take care of them.
  7. I think someone with more experience should be able to help you with your problem but one thing is for sure, your husband should keep his face far enough away from YoYo so he cannot bite him there again.
  8. They can be fickle, he got pissed when you left before with his regular sitter but this last time he was taken somewhere different and he may have thought you had given him away so he was so glad to see you all was forgotten, really who knows what goes thru their brain, I say enjoy it while you can for Savage might return to his normal self too soon.:cheer:
  9. Man he did do a number on them apricots, what a mess but he had fun doing it though, love the pics, I knew you wouldn't let us down. :woohoo:
  10. Yep, just like a kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar, the action stops, oh well maybe next time, she sure is a cutie.
  11. I think you are right Pat, those larger birds, namely the macaws are famous for testing their boundaries, he wants to feel you out and see what he can get away with. You are wise to be cautious right now and with your experience you will know when it is safe to take him up on his offer to give him scratches. I think you are doing a wonderful job with him and when he settles in and knows his place you will be in seventh heaven.
  12. That must have been one sight to see, too bad you didn't get some pictures to share with us or did you? You not holding out on us are you?  Thanks for sharing that story of Spock and his dirty deeds!
  13. I think Pat has hit the nail on the head, your husband is missing the signs that he is about to bite, they may be very subtle but they usually are there, we just have to be very attentive to catch it.
  14. I think you may have answered your own question Brian, taking him to a boarding place was completely different from what you have been doing and he did stress out and plucked his tail feathers. I don't really see any reason why they wouldn't grow back, it may take a while, and now that you are home I doubt he will continue to pluck any more. The fact that he has clung to you since you returned shows how much he missed you and your bond must be pretty strong so don't worry about it.
  15. I also have a sun conure named Sunny, she is about 4 1/2 years old and a delight, she is what eventually led me to getting Josey, my Cag. I can well imagine she is very beautiful and somewhat of a clown, mine is a shoulder ornament. Why don't you share a pic or two of Captian Jack with us, you can put them in the other birds room.
  16. CORRECTION Dave!!!!!! Today is the last day for 10% off your total order and $2.99 shipping on a $40 or more order.
  17. Hello Pugman and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Sophie. Forget about Chet Womach and his DVDs, he is just trying to separate you from your money, he doesn't know squat about birds, we on the other hand know lots and anything you want to know we can probably provide. That is so sad that Sophie was neglected but you will turn her around, you probably already know it will take some time, she has to come to trust you and that takes a lot of patience out of you but will reward you greatly down the road. You might want to get her to step up for the next accomplishment, just take your time and don't rush her. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Sophie you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  18. Stop that right now Caitlin, no more I can't take it!! Just kidding but you are making me jealous, the more you show Mango the more I want one, he sure is a cutie and full of himself, such a delightful little parrot. Now I have to console myself, ok I am ok now!!
  19. I don't know how you can maintain a sense of humor when Chikki is lost, I would be a basket case, but if it helps you to deal with it then by all means use it. I do hope and pray that Chikki is found and very soon, the sooner the better.
  20. Ecko sure does look great on that basket, what a great "perch" for him to be on when outside, he is so good looking too, thanks for sharing your "basket bird" with us Caitlin.
  21. Leia wrote: Thanks Leia, that is pretty much what I was saying and like you I see Tango's side too but I guess we will never agree on it, we each have our own opinion and I stick to mine.
  22. Oh no Caroline I hope there is nothing wrong with Keeko except for a bruised wing and probably that is what happened and who knows it may be ok by Wednesday morning but you are wise to have it checked out. Let us know how he gets along and keep us informed, I will be thinking of you and Keeko in the meantime.
  23. Oh I don't think he is thinking that, he looks like he is tolerating it at least and that is what Josey does, thanks for sharing a wet one with us.:cheer:
  24. Pat Harley is so beautiful, what colors he has, I can see why you love him so much, he is gorgeous and with your experience he will be coming around in no time flat. Thanks for sharing your handsome boy with us.
