  1. Hello Leda and welcome to our family, we are so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Rodney Copperbottom. Once you have one of these amazing creatures you are hooked, I know it broke your heart to have to leave your first one behind but now you have another and what a life you two will have. It probably will take a little longer since this one is not a just weaned baby but I am so glad you could give this guy a new home, just be patient with him and don't force anything before he is ready for more. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Rodney you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  2. So YOUR bird became HER bird, that figures, oh well thats the way it goes sometimes.:silly:
  3. Adam, they really are amazing creatures as you are beginning to find out and they are much like having a perpetual small child all the time. Like us they can have their good days and bad days and we have to respect that and not push when they get a little moody. Thats a great feeling when you come home from a hard day at work and your grey is happy to see you and ready to come out of the cage and spend some time with you while you get busy with the second shift as I call it when I get home. I hope you two have a lifetime of wonderful companionship.
  4. """" Ilove them... """" I just bet you do, they are getting so gorgeous, the colors are stunning, looks like they are having fun, thanks for sharing them with us.
  5. Oh that last one of Mocha snuggling into the neck of either you or your wife is adorable, he is getting more cute by the day, what a pretty bird, thanks for keeping us in awe of your new fid.
  6. I think it might be a jealousy problem since it didn't start until after you brought Jasper home. You need to do things first for Jax since he was there first so he knows he has the number one spot. Birds can be funny this way and that is what I do with mine, my sun conure was the first parrot I got then my grey and I do things like letting them out of the cage and feeding them first for my conure and then my grey. I would say you are going to have to try to keep Jax off your shoulder since he won't step down when you ask him to, it will be nearly impossible to keep him from wanting to go up there but I think it would be wise. I do allow my grey on my shoulder but she has always come down when I asked her to. I hope some of the more knowledgeable members will be able to give you some more help.
  7. You have some pretty birds and some playful dogs, thanks for sharing these pictures with us.
  8. And you know they wear nothing under those kilts(drooling now):woohoo:
  9. Hello Jingles and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock.
  10. Sounds like a sock!
  11. Don't ever grow up Bernie, you have some fun.
  12. Oh yes Jan, when my hubby has the lawn mower or the weed eater running and comes close to the house Josey freaks a little too, anything out of the normal and a lawnmower or weedeater is not something that is used every day. She reacted pretty much the same way as Tobie.
  13. You have all the fun you want to with your new toy Bernie, after all you are working on 4 farms right now. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  14. I hear ya Julie, not a bad idea after all is it!:cheer:
  15. Aw come on, there is always room for 1 more!
  16. Those are some great pictures of Stazel and Captain America, he loves the water it seems, thanks for sharing them with us.
  17. Thats why you have to be especially careful of what you do and the reactions to their antics or misbehavior, the little rascals. We all know that Emma is the drama "queen"
  18. I see them here Julie, don't know what is going on with the first ones but he is a good looking bird, just give him some time and he will warm up to you and your family. That Beau is a bad birdie chewing those cushions but a cutie, thanks for sharing the pictures with us and congrats on your new addition to the flock.

  20. Hello Abbey and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Buddy. Sorry, didn't mean to nag about the introduction, you have committed no crime its just we like for new members to introduce themselves and tell us some about themselves so we can get to know you better. I am so glad you have been reunited with Buddy once again, it seems you did have a special relationship at one time and he remembers you, that says lots about the grey. It didn't take him long to come around but he is in a new environment so he has to have time to adjust and feel comfortable. We have loads of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions as you already have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Buddy when you get the chance to share some.

    Re-bonding

Yes more of them are willing to accept more touching, especially some snuggling if they allow it at nighttime maybe right before going down for the night. I know my Josey is more receptive of it then but at least you are making progress. I am sure he remembers you but he is in new surroundings and he will need some time to settle down and feel comfortable but you are making great progress with him, just continue what you are doing and don't force anything with him. Now about that introduction in the welcome room.
  22. Hello Teri and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your fids. Wow you do have a full house of animals, I am impressed at just how many you do have, how do you find the time to take care of all of them, 11 parrots, thats a lot of birds. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of your greys and other fids if you have some you would share with us.
  23. Bobby is just being Bobby, he has obviously chosen you as his favorite and he views your daughter as a threat to your relationship. This is typical of a grey to choose one favorite and not want much of anything to do with anyone else and he is biting you to warn you about her getting too close. There is not much you can do to change it, they pick their favorites and maybe with some time he might soften up and allow her more to do with him but she should just accept it that you are the chosen one. She didn't have to have done anything to cause this, its just the way some greys are but maybe some of the more knowledgeable members will have some better ideas about this problem.
  24. Yes they can be scared of the silliest things, Ecko is sure got his eye on it, thanks for sharing that with us Caitlin.
