  2. Thats great to hear Pat and I know you are busting at the seams with pride, nothing like a good friend and he is eating better too, thanks for sharing that with us and a picture would sure be nice.
  3. #7 That all those T-shirts I have collected somehow holes develop in the most improbable places!
  4. Supernova wrote: Why, are you saying women can't play with toy boats, some of us can hang with the best of them Bernie.
  5. Well its evident that missing part of his toe does not hinder him in what he does, he doesn't know he is any different from any other bird, so he has a flaw, don't we all.
  6. Java is a cutie, I love the one of her hanging from the lampshade, thanks for sharing it with us.
  7. I can't wait to see some pictures and hear all about the visit this weekend.
  8. Thank you Bernie for being my friend, I love ya man.

  11. Ben is so lucky to have an outside cage to take advantage of the fresh air and sunshine, she is one lucky grey Bernie, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  12. Congrats on getting Domingo back, I know you are very happy at the moment, thanks for letting us know, you just made my day.
  13. Dave, I don't know who the author is but that poem really touched me when I read it, the tears just flowed from my eyes and every single time I read it the reaction is the same. That is one of the most touching poems that I have ever read, thanks so much for sharing it with us, maybe one day I can read it without shedding a tear but I doubt it.
  14. I am so sorry to hear about Macey, I had my hopes that she would pull thru but it just wasn't meant to be, again so sorry.
  15. Mark, I am glad you finally found Max and you two have been reunited but I do not appreciate your comments about Dan, mainly this one """DANMAC,,,,F`ck what you say......""" you should keep this kind to yourself. All you had to do was let us know you had him back and the circumstances but to brag that you spent more to find him than Dan is none of our business but YOU posted that for everyone to see so I make it my business to comment. I wish you would keep your sarcasm to yourself, you have your Max back but we don't need your uncalled for comments and your foul language. And for the karma back, forget it, you will have to earn it the same way the rest of us have earned ours.
  16. danmcq wrote: Lilo has not been dna'd, Eve called him a he for she felt like he was a male but we shall see as I plan on getting that test done so I will know for sure as I may change the name. Don't worry even if Lilo turns out to be a male there won't ever be any little Lilos or Joseys for these are pets not breeder birds.
  17. I am the new owner of Lilo, he arrived at my doorstep with all his possessions early this afternoon and he is doing just fine so far. He is sitting in his travel cage at the moment looking around and taking in all the new to him surroundings. I really had not planned to get another bird much less a grey at this time, I had thought that the next addition might possibilly be a caique but the opportunity presented itself and I just couldn't turn it down. This is my first venture into rehoming as both Josey and Sunny were just weaned birds when I brought them into my house and Lilo is 3 years old and this is his second home. Lilo is about the same age as Josey and I was told by our resident expert Dave that the two of them would most likely adjust to each other fairly well without much problem so here we are. He is a beautiful grey, a little darker shade of grey than Josey and they are in the same room where they can see each other and neither one of them has made any agressive looking move so far but time will tell. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow when they are both out and they get a chance to see one another closer up and without cage bars between them. For those who might ask, no I am not doing quarantine because Lilo and my birds and are all healthy and have not been with any other birds so the risk is very miminal to none.
  18. Continue to give her the mix along with the other food she was eating but gradually over time reduce the amount of the mix and more of the other foods to gradually wean her off the mix. How is she demanding you feed her the mix? Is she throwing a hissy fit? Well just ignore it, if you give in to her fits then you are basically telling her she rules the roost. She will not starve herself to death but she needs to learn she cannot "demand" her way and get it.
  19. Skittles is a very pretty conure sitting there on your son's shoulder, he is a cutie too. I have a sun conure named Sunny and she is full of herself sometimes but they are sweet little birds, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  20. I take my grey into the shower stall and wet her down with the spray nozzle set on gentle then I finish her off with a spray of pure aloe vera juice. Some members spray their birds with a spray from a bottle to get their birds wet and some do it in a sink or tub, some even provide a large bowl in their cage for them to bathe in theirselves, try different ways and see what works. You might check in drug stores where you live and see if the aloe vera juice is available.
  21. Just continue to offer the foods he should be eating along with his seeds, then gradually over time give less and less of the seeds and more of the veggies, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts and pasta. If he is not used to eating these types of foods he will in time, the key is to keep offering them. Another thing you can do is eat some of those foods in front of him, most greys are like children, if they see you eating something then they want some too, use that to your advantage to encourage him to try new things. He should also be getting some pellets daily, a good quality pellet is recommended for about 50% of their daily diet, it contains vitamins and nutrients geared for parrot's optimal health. It is normal for them to scratch and preen themselves but if he is doing it to an excess then maybe he needs bathing, most of us usually give our greys a bath about twice weekly or more often if molting. There is a product called aloe vera juice that you can buy by the gallon jug that you can spray on your bird, it helps to moisturize their skin and makes them feel better. It is available in the pharmacy department of Walmart. If it has been a while since this bird has been seen by an avian vet then I would suggest you schedule one, he will check for abnormalities and usually take blood and run assorted tests to determine your bird's health, that will determine if any supplements are needed and an avian vet should be the judge of that.
  22. The poor little dear, I will keep good thoughts that Macey will be better by morning and soon over this, thats great this vet is taking good care of her, please keep us informed.
  23. Hello Michelle and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally come on in and joing the fun and we look forward to hearing more about you and Rose. Yes it is very likely that those red feathers will molt out but not always and maybe Rose will be one of the lucky ones and hers will stay, time will tell. She is still a baby and yes she is just going thru the motions, if she is eating what you offer her then she is doing just fine. There is no set age at which they wean, some do so at younger than others but if the pet store said she was weaned then she is. Thats great that you left her perches low in her cage until she gets more adept at climbing and perching, they are sort of clumsy when at this age and you can move them higher when she is ready. You mention a conure, what kind of conure do you have and do you have any other birds or parrots? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Rose you would share with us we would love to see her red feathers.
  24. Sadly a lot of people will be fooled into thinking this is a real deal, why there are so many people out there willing to do such deeds to make a dishonest dollar but their day is coming and it isn't in a courtroom either, thanks Bernie for alerting our English members to yet another scam. Karma from me too.
  25. I am so glad you got it "sorted" Bernie, now you can indulge us with your videos.
