How is it that I can talk to Monk all the time...
judygram replied to tatdmommy's topic in The GREY Lounge
Thats funny but they choose which words and phrases they will repeat and sometimes it only takes them hearing it once and they will repeat it over and over. I think a lot of it depends on how you say it, giving emphasis on certain words, the tone of voice and such, try it and see if it works. -
Do you have any of that aloe vera juice you could spray on him Jill? The juice is soothing to their skin and I spray it on Josey right after a shower or bath. Not sure if it is available in the UK but google it and see.

It will be the thrill of a lifetime Dee, a ride you won't soon forget or want to and by all means get some of those boings, those swingy things that greys like to play on, those atoms and orbits too are good, the more the better.
-
I guess thats how the rich and famous live and play with their "toys", for sale huh, just a bit out of my league but thanks for sharing the pics with us Bernie, oh the life.
-
Harvey doesn't look shabby to me but if you are seeing pin feathers come in then he is preening a lot to open them up, I would imagine they itch a lot, thanks for sharing the pictures with us Jill. BTW, love the no head shot!!
-
Julie you are not boring us, we love to hear how Argyle is warming up to you a little at a time, small steps but with a big payoff, his trust and love, keep it up and you can always share more pictures if you like.
-
Poor Jill, Harvey just wants to be by your side and you are complaining, you just can't be satisfied can you, I agree some pictures would be nice and then we will judge for ourselves how "shabby" he is.
-
It sounds safe enough but maybe one of our more knowledgeable members will verify that for you, I usually err on the side of caution until I know for sure.

Exactly Jane, not one of us would like to engage in foreplay just to be denied what our body wants in return, imagine how we would feel to get worked up and then nothing, I would not want my parrot to get so frustrated because of it so I try to direct attention elsewhere. Of course Josey has not really been showing any signs of sexual excitement yet but my sun conure has and I ignore it and interest her in something else. Thanks Jen for bringing this subject up, one that is on our minds a lot:whistle:

It does vary according to each bird and other factors, Josey did not go thru a severe molt, in fact I hardly noticed her molting and she didn't get cranky either as some do, if Chimay does you will know it so give her some space.

I share your sentiments about this forum myself, I have been a member since May 2007 and I have not missed many days in coming here and offering advice even though I don't have that much knowledge about them as I am learning more every day. I have made some very good friends here, some will be friends for the rest of our lives as we stay in touch besides just here. I think we all have had our times we maybe disagreed with someone else and had a confrontation or two but I usually prefer to handle those things privately but I can hold my own if need be. This forum will never take the place of your avian vet but a lot of situations can be sorted out here and sometimes it is just reassurance that we are doing the right thing and that all is normal. I love being a part of this forum, even though I may lack the knowledge that some of our other members have but the friendship is wonderful and we can have some fun along the way, what more could you ask for.

Tracie, now that Lilo has arrived Chicken will have a good teacher and will learn lots of new words and phrases, then you will have to see who is the better talker.

I knew it, I knew it, Paul really does have a love for the birds and he has an excellent companion for him now in a sun conure. I have one too and she is a shoulder ornament, loves going all thru the house with me while I do things and no matter how I move she hangs on and stays with me. He is going to have so much fun with Tequila Blue and I can't wait to see some pictures of him, of course he will have to wait for the first or second molt to get those bright yellow and orange colors but he chose wisely in my opinion Robin. Congrats on your new addition.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of George now too due to the same thing as Gracie, how awful for you and your family and especially for Paul but these things happen and I hope it doesn't turn him off from giving his heart to another bird. I had no idea that the fill in those nest beds could harm our fids but we all should take this warning seriously, thanks for telling us about it Robin, you may have saved a life today.

What beautiful birds these are, they are magnificent looking, thanks for sharing them with us and I will check out the website later for more.

That is such a cute little kitten, reminds me of my late companion, she was that blue gray color also, thanks Michelle for sharing a couple more pictures of Fluffy, I once had a cat named Fluffy, she had really long hair.

katana600 wrote: That is huge Dee, not every husband will do that, he is a gem for saying that. Sounds like you have a very caring and knowledgeable breeder that is raising your baby to be a well socialized bird and it will make the transition to your home that much easier.
-
You are being a very patient woman and even though to you it seems like forever it will be here soon enough. Your breeder is just ensuring that your baby is fully weaned and doing fine before he sends it home, believe me the wait will be worth it then you will have the rest of your life to enjoy with Juno.

No it is not too early and the pin feathers you are seeing are the evidence of it. They do tend to get a little more itchy when the new feathers are coming in, more frequent baths will help with that and also the aloe vera juice.

You have one adorable grey there Hannah, very amusing how Juji snuggles into your neck and hangs from your hand, you have a very active and life loving companion, you must be so proud, thanks for sharing this video with us, loved it.

That weight is well within the normal range as there are small, medium and large frame greys, Josey is around 420 to 425 grams and she is probably a medium frame grey, some are less than 400 grams and a few go up to 600 grams. What matters is that the weight not fall too much lower than their normal weight or there could be something wrong.

I'm not the most knowledgeable member but I do know that sometimes they change their favorite person and maybe Alfie has done that in favor of David. If that has happened there is not much you can do about it but accept it. They also pick up on our moods also so that could be playing a role in whats going on. Maybe some of the more knowledgeabe members will be able to give you some answers to help you with this, in the meantime hang in there and don't take it personally.

I think Lilo will be happy in his new home with Tracie and her fiance, he just needs a little time to settle in and with the clip being a blow to his flying ability he will get over it in time. I know exactly how you felt when you were trying to get him back into his cage, he loved being out and is a very sociable bird. That last night he was with us he enjoyed being in the middle of what my 3 grandchildren were playing with, something that Josey doesn't care for but Lilo was curious and of course he explored. Lilo is a beautiful grey and even though it didn't work out for us I am grateful for the time we did have, it helped me see another completely different grey personality. Its one thing to know that each one is different but it really brings it home when you see two together and how the only real commonality is their grey feathers. I am sure Tracie is going to be rewarded with his love and trust and time and much patience will bring that about.

"""Oooh Judy - I love to thrill - but you're not my type, sorry!!""" Ah Jill, I don't swing that way! :woohoo:
