  1. Penny you are a cross between a pionus and a cockatoo, you are quiet and shy but you demand attention, have I got it right!! Love ya girl:P
  2. Well now that you know how you can share lots more with us Lyn, you must have more I presume. Oh I can imagine that Tia is the boss, usually those small packages are very bossy but she is a cutie.
  3. What a great looking family Lyn, a couple of sweet looking dogs and horses and of course Alfie rounds out the group, thanks for sharing the pics with us and congrats on mastering posting pics.
  4. Yes I leave pellets in their cages at all times for they snack on them during the day and maybe at night too but they are available if they want them.
  5. Well good for you Robin and I hope everything is resolved, sometimes it does work out for the best for the little guy, personnel changes huh, interesting.
  6. My well has hard water and Josey doesn't pluck so that statement that hard water makes them pluck is bull. You can use the aloe vera juice straight from the fridge or allow it to come to room temperature, some greys prefer their bath water to be on the cooler side instead of warm. It will last a long time in the fridge but if you use it regularly it won't be a problem.

  8. Oh that is so appropriate for a grey also, thanks Lyn for sharing that with us, I have seen that before.
  9. I think the best thing is to change your eating habits, she sees you eating these foods and wants them too. It is not something she should be eating on a regular basis, a taste now and then is ok. Yes keep offering her the good stuff, she might not eat it right now but sometime in the future she may.
  10. OMG its almost Friday, man am I ready for it, been waiting all week so it better be a good one, got the drink chillin as we speak. Bernie, you are only as old as you feel so you probably are 5:laugh: Are you gonna give us a little hint as to what Elaine's prezzy is, must be a nice one if it comes from Tiffanys.
  11. If you really want to freak out give your grey some fresh beets, the morning poop will be the prettiest shade of pink:sick: :woohoo:
  12. It never ceases to amaze me how they can be so scared of the strangest things that we take for granted but that is the way of the grey, glad Yoshi got over her fear of the "closet" guess she figured out there was no boogeyman in there after all!
  13. Those toys in the cage should be rotated out on a regular basis, I have many toys for my two birds and it helps keep them occupied and busy if you change them out, its almost like they are new to them. There are some threads in the homemade toys room for making them out of common household items and won't cost you much in materials, some are quite unique.
  14. Dan is right, most greys will pick a favorite if there are two or more in a household and there is not much you can do about it but accept it. They usually have different relationships with each individual, with you he allows you to touch and handle him but your wife can play with him and give him his food and water but not touch him. It can change in the future as it has been known to happen but for now you will just have to settle for what he is willing to give.
  15. Exactly, it usually takes a little time for a new to you grey to feel comfortable enough to talk, thats a good sign she is settling into her new home. I would imagine you will start hearing lots more words and phrases, a lot from her previous home and some new ones she picks up from yours, enjoy.
  16. I'm really not sure where Josey sleeps as she is covered at night but I am pretty sure it is on her boing, right at the top, it is the highest point she can get inside her cage. Sunny, my sun conure sleeps in a tent like hut, she goes inside usually as I am covering her, once she started using it she has used it ever since. I don't have one for Josey as I doubt she would use it.
  17. Need we say more!!:whistle: {Feel-good-0002006E}
  18. Hello Amy and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Chloe. Jen has given you some sound advice and speaks from experience on how she handles a similar situation. Other members will soon chime in with their ideas and suggestions for you. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love to look at pictures here so if you have some of Chloe you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  19. I too use the grate, Josey doesn't spend much time on the bottom of her cage but for the times she is there I don't want her stepping in her poops. I change the papers every other day and wipe the poops off the grate and take out the grate every week and clean it thoroughly.
  20. I'm the pionus, thanks for that link Adina.
  21. Hello Pga7602 and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Coral. Congrats on your first grey and first parrot, thats great that you could give this bird a new home and young enough that it is still a baby. She will need some time to settle into a new home with new surroundings but she should take to it very quickly since she is still relatively young. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Coral you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  22. I don't think you will have any problem with them breeding even if you turn out to have a male and a female, they need certain conditions for them to breed and pet greys do not make breeders so you are safe on that count. Thats great that you want to open your home for foster birds, there is a real need for people to do that sort of thing.
