  1. Oh just wonderful, you get to relive the pain all over again but without the actual pain, just the sound effects, it is so funny when we hear it from them, fly on the wall for just a few moments, thanks for sharing that with us.
  2. Thanks Dave for the update, I hope all 4 eggs hatch and thanks for sharing this experience with us.

    New Rescues

Jay and Maggie, you two have a heart of gold to take in all these birds in need of some love and attention, if I wore a hat I would take it off for you, can't wait to see some pictures of these fids.
  6. That was so funny Dan, thanks for the laugh.
  7. Maybe you will be lucky like me Adina, Josey is 3 years, 4 months old and I never noticed any terrible twos as far as she is concerned, she is the same as always so it must vary from bird to bird. She doesn't bite, I have no problems putting her into her cage, behavior wise she is no problem.
  8. I have a solution to your messy eater, do not feed him when he is sitting on your shoulder, I feed my birds on a stand so they don't fling food on me or wipe their messy beaks on my hair. I got tired real quickly of them using me as a wipe so no more shoulder eating for mine, of course when they do come back on my shoulder my sleeves are used appropriately as napkins. B)
  9. Although most of us here like to leave our birds flighted there are some instances where a clip is necessary so don't chide yourself about doing what you feel you had to do. And about how he has reacted give him some time and he will come around, he has been dealt a blow to his ego but he will get over it, just be patient with him until he does.
  10. Only you know if you are ready for another grey, look deep inside and ask yourself if you are, you will know the answer. Please let us know what you decide.
  11. Darius is so beautiful Pat and I am so happy you are enjoying him so much, I bet he feels the same about you, you two have been the best medicine for each other. His feathers are shining more and more every time you post pictures, what a beauty, thanks for sharing the pics with us and the great update.
  12. Ok, so no more petting for Josey, just head and neck scratches from now on, thanks Dave for taking the time to explain in detail why we shouldn't be petting our birds just anywhere and for those who have greys who do not allow their owners to touch them very much its just as well.
  13. That does look nice and expensive but glad you got it for less, thanks for sharing the link to what you have with us.
  14. By Jove Julie I think you found it, yep thats it.
  15. I'm so glad it worked out well for you when taking her to the vet, you thought about it and came up with a solution and it worked for you. I think we are going to be hearing more good news from you soon as you two get to know each other better.
  16. Thanks so much Dave for that response to the questions about our birds and our stimulating them sexually. Am I to assume we shouldn't be petting our greys that are over the age of 3 years anywhere but their head and neck or are you saying we should just stop immediately when they start showing signs they are getting aroused?
  17. Pat is right, you just have to keep putting them back on the stand or wherever you want them to stay, it may take hundreds or thousands of times but they will get the message eventually. Josey pretty much stays where I put her but she is not capable of flight at the moment, when she gets that ability back I may have to work with her to get her to stay where I want her but that is a river I will cross when I come to it.
  18. I can't wait to see some pictures of the changes you made, hope you feel better so you can take the pics and share them with us.
  19. That is very cute of Dayo, I thought I would see him wipe his butt but not today, thanks Dan for sharing that with us.
  20. Have a wonderful trip Jack and bring back some pictures please and I hope you do get to see some wild greys in their native home.
  21. You lucky thing Sanggay, we cannot get them here and not because of the price but they are so perishable they won't last the trip here so we are reduced to having to use the red palm oil as a substitute, that Koko is one lucky grey.
  22. Two months may seem like a long time but if he was mistreated by others then it will take more time for him to come to allow you to touch him. Some are just more stand offish and don't like being touched very much and maybe Pinky is like that. I would continue to do what you are doing, don't force yourself on him, just go close enough that he is comfortable with and give him some more time to trust you. His trust has been damaged and it will hard but not impossible to gain it. Continue to do things where he can see you, get some of his toys and play with them, act like you are having a great time with them, greys are curious and when he is ready he will come closer and join you but let him make that decision. I wouldn't try to touch him for now, he needs to learn to trust you and if you keep trying to touch him then he never will trust you. Some of the more knowledgeable members will have some other ideas and suggestions for you too but hang in there.
  23. Jan you can bookmark it, copy the address and add it to your favorites then you can refer back to it when you need it.
  24. Yes it can Adina, it would work well on metal, I have used it on pvc pipe, you stretch it slightly when wrapping and it adheres to itself and whatever you wrap with it. It was developed to be used on horses, they wrap their legs with it when they suffer a sprain. It also comes in all colors.
  25. They will do that when they are trying their voice out, Josey will answer the phone the way my hubby does when it rings, I definitely hear my voice and his voice when she talks.
