  1. Sherry he is sensing your hesitation and that is why you got bit, you have to be sure of yourself, approach him with confidence and when you are asking him to step up ball your hand into a fist and offer that to him, if he goes to bite you he will have a harder time grabbing your skin if its taut but don't pull back. I am interested in hearing what the bird whisperer has to say so be sure to let us know and how it goes.
  2. Shelia about two weeks or more ago I heard a sound outside like a bird and when I looked in the direction it came from I saw this cockatiel, I grabbed him up and put him in a small cage I used to have for finches. I have called and asked the neighbors but no one has claimed him/her so far so it looks like I have a new tiel. It is a pearl and very pretty, I never would have picked a tiel for another bird but this one landed in my lap so to speak so it looks like I need to give it a name, then it will be official.
  3. Issac is one sweet grey and I have enjoyed hearing you talk about him and how special he is to you, what a wonderful relationship you two have, may it continue for the rest of your lives.
  4. I am so sorry and saddened for your loss of Lolita as her life was cut much too short but you have moved on and looking forward to two new babies, amazons this time, please do share them with us for we now have an amazon room.
  5. Birdhouse is so right, you have no idea of what Charlie experienced when he was on the loose but give him some more time to feel safe and comfortable again and he will soon be back to talking and chatting again. It might also be a good idea to take him in to see the vet especially if he shows any other signs that he is not himself.
  6. It will be hard to get Aoodi off the junk food seed diet but it can be accomplished if you keep at it, keep offering the good food even if she won't eat or touch it, one day she might change her mind. It can also help for her to see you eating the healthy foods too and enjoying every morsel, sometimes thats all it takes for her to want to find out why you are enjoying it so much. Realize this will take lots of time for it won't happen overnight, maybe months or more down the road but she will be so much better if you can reduce the amount of seeds she eats and replace with healthier foods. Try different vegetables and offer them in different ways, raw, cooked, mashed, chopped or any other way you can think of she may take a liking to.
  7. Can Cracker tell time Shelia, he is an adorable cockatiel, have you heard that I have a cockatiel now, one fell in my lap!

    Charlie

Charlie must have been enjoying something really good for the evidence is all over his beak, thanks for sharing that with us Shelia, hope he didn't fling any on you.
  9. I agree totally, never again will I visit Florida in the summer.
  10. Thanks for explaining what a swamp cooler was, guess we don't need them here in Virginia as it gets too humid as it is, we need dehumidifiers.

Tanya you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink, you have done all you can and it is up to her now but she sounds like a know it all who is going to have it her way or not at all but I hope Cricket will do ok and I never have to tell her "I told you so"
  12. Uh, pardon my ignorance but what is a "swamp cooler"?
  13. I am sorry that your thread was turned into a political fiasco as I am sure it was not your intention but I think we can all agree that we disagree on certain subjects but I saw nothing anti American in your opening post, it was a heartfelt one and was sincere but it was turned into something ugly that I do not care to see here again. Why don't we get back to why we are here in the first place, our birds, namely our greys for they come first and foremost here on this forum and squabbles between members should remain private as it was intended instead of drawing everyone into a slugfest that no one wins, just hard feelings and members lost.
  14. Thanks so much Dan for putting into perspective why we are here in the first place, I absolutely loved the first video, that was very well done and the music was fantastic, thanks for sharing it with us.
  15. Such an entertainer, love how she picks those foot toys up and gives them a good shake then out they go, thanks for sharing miss pole dancer with us.
  16. Sachi in her Adventure Pack carrier, she is so cute, bet she had a wonderful time out in the fresh air and sunshine.
  17. We don't have Whole Foods here where I live but there might be an Asian market around, I will have to check it out.
  18. Those are great pictures of Cocoa and Mocha, what fabulous looking birds, thanks for sharing them with us.
  19. Hello Stefanie and welcome to our family, its great you could join us. You have been given some excellent advice from two of our most distinguished members and they tell you the truth even if it hurts but yes a macaw is not for everyone but consider what qualities you really want in a bird and not just what looks good. Please do a lot of research to find what fits best in your lifestyle but please limit yourself to one at a time, a new bird needs lots of your time and attention and you would be spreading yourself a little thin to tackle more than one.
  20. I looked today when I was in my regular grocery store but didn't see any, will try looking for it at some speciality stores for now I really want to know what it tastes like.
  21. I personally like Dave's idea of the BB gun, heh heh heh!!
  22. Wow that is quite a celebration at 10 days but there is no problem here where I live as it is out in the country and they don't even hear any fireworks, they are too far off to be of any bother to my fids, its just another day in paradise to them but I can imagine it is a problem where people live in close proximity to one another or live close to where fireworks are put off.

    Bridget

Bridget is so adorable and she will get brighter and prettier after she molts a time or two, my sun conure Sunny is probably 5 1/2 years old but she is just as spunky as she was when she was just weaned but that yellow color will cover most of her back replacing the green color she is sporting right now. She was my first parrot and it just whet my appetite for a larger bird hence I got my grey, the two of them do not get along together but they share the same house and as long as I keep a foot or two between them then all is fine. You will find her to be a great companion, mine never wants to leave my shoulder when out of the cage, she is a permanent fixture but she is adored. You will find she can be quite feisty too if she wants to. Thanks for sharing a few pictures of Bridget with us.
  24. I have never seen a lychee before and don't know whether or not the stores here carry them but I am gonna find out, they look interesting, what do they taste like?
  25. Thats an impressive playstand, makes the one I made look very simple but Josey will not go near it so it was all for nothing but yours is a work of art, you did a great job with it and no wonder the birds enjoy it so much, thanks for sharing some pics of it with us.
