Hello Lauren and welcome to our family, I am so pleased you are giving this grey a new forever home. I think you will do fine since you already have other birds but do read thru the threads here for lots of useful and helpful information and if you don't find what you are looking for then by all means ask questions and we will help you in any way we can. We want to see some pictures of Greystone after you bring him home and you can share some pics of the other birds you have in the other birds room if you like, we like all birds not just greys.

I certainly understand your being a little nervous along with being excited for this is a major step you are taking and a lifetime committment to one of the most amazing creatures on this earth. Spend a little time reading thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

Meet Madden!!! My sweet 2 year old baby boy!!!
judygram replied to Brogers7684's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Madden is adorable and I bet he is a delight to have, you are off to a wonderful start with him, thanks for sharing the pictures with us. -
Dave asnswered this question in another thread but yes he will be ok to leave him caged for the week you are on vacation. You say you have a friend who can come to feed and water him for you and it would be good if that friend could spend a little time with him, maybe an hour talking to him and such to keep him company. Yes most of us have this dilemma when we want to go on vacation and no one else can put our grey back in their cage after letting them out. He will be so glad to see you when you return and you can "save" him when you get back and more than likely he will forgive you right off the bat. So quit worrying about it and take your vacation, you probably need it and your grey will be ever so glad to see you return and have a good time.

Ryan I think you are just going to have to rebuild Paco's trust in you as you have been busy with schoolwork and he is a little tiffed off because you were otherwise engaged and not giving him the attention he needs. I think in time he will come around but keep doing what you are doing. It also could just be a phase he is going thru as that is not uncommon, he is a little early for the terrible twos but be patient with him and I think he will be fine. Oh and glad to have you back with us Ryan.

It all boils down to our own preference, I have my birds flighted even though one is incapable of flight at the moment but I respect others opinions if they feel they must clip their bird for whatever reason, it could be a good reason and no one else knows better than the one wearing the shoes. This will always be a touchy subject with people having strong opinions for both sides and as long as we keep that in mind then there is no problem, to each their own.

Rambo looks adorable from the pics you shared and what a lucky guy to get a big cage, yes you will have to post some pics of the cage and how Rambo looks inside it, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
-
Adina, are you looking for a new cage for Emma? I remember that you bought a stainless steel cage for Sachi last year that was really nice, wish I could afford one but was just wondering why look elsewhere if you don't mind my asking. I have never ordered anything from this site.

That bird was hilarious and a very good talker, thanks Dan for finding that and sharing it with us.

That baby is adorable and the owner will not recognize it when he returns for it is so clean now and loved the videos of the baby by itself and the one with Cocoa, she looked like she wanted the baby to groom her but then it was hey back off a bit with the foot up, so cute to watch the two of them interact and you will miss the baby when its gone I bet. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Josey didn't start talking until she was a year old also but she did a lot of gibberish that was probably her testing out and practicing her vocals before she actually made words and phrases that I could understand. Some will talk sooner and some later than one year and a few won't talk at all but the odds are in your favor that Tui will talk so just be patient. For right now the noises she makes are pretty much what Josey did at her age but once they perfect talking then the floodgates are open and you will continually be amazed at what they can say.

Gosh you are going to make us wait until Monday to see some pics, oh well, just kidding. It sounds like he is going to do fine but I have included the links to two threads that Dave007 started on bathing methods so maybe they will help you. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?189753-Bathing-possible-method-1 http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?189752-Bathing-possible-method-2

I am so glad to hear the procedure went well and Charlie seems none the worse for it but I have to echo Dan on the herbal treatments, do ask your vet about it but in the meantime let the implant have a chance to work for it may do the trick and if you try the herbal treatment at the same time you won't know which one worked for Charlie. I truely hope this does work for Charlie for he is really doing a job on himself it appears from the pics.

Hello Mark and welcome to our family, its great you have joined the ranks of grey ownership and we look forward to hearing a lot more about you and Corona. Yes there will be accidents as she learns her flight skills but you can minimize some of it by putting some decals on your windows of there are no curtains, those will let her know she can't fly thru them but like a child you just have to let her fall a few times before she learns to walk or in this case fly. Please continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Corona you would share with us we would love to see them.

My Second Introduction. Got my bird at last!!
judygram replied to Cheshire Cat's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Congrats on getting your grey and that is a wonderful name, can't wait to see some pictures of her. -
That is about right now but I will give you some time to get him into his new cage and such but please update soon as I can't wait!

Sorry but I had to laugh:D at this one but a bird is going to chew on wood, be it perches, toys, playstands or whatever they can get to, if its made of wood then it very likely will be destroyed either somewhat or completely but just enjoy the fact that she likes it and maybe your dad can make more things for Tui to enjoy or destroy. Look at it this way, Tui could be destroying your wood furniture or your cabinets, door and window facings, count your blessings.
-
Glad to hear it Steve, I knew you would see that Milo never makes that escape again, well done.
-
Yeah just give them a box and they can have a lot of fun playing in it or destroying it, thanks for sharing that with us.
-
That just looks like normal peeling to me, their beak flakes all the time as new growth is added and they rub their beaks on perches and toys and makes it flake off like it shows in your pictures. Yes your pics are a mite large!
-
Chris introduce it to your new baby as soon as it is able to fly well and at a young age, the babies take to the harness much better than an older bird and I look forward to seeing those pics when you get around to it.
-
I posted before I saw the finished product, that looks nice and Hannah is playing with it so its a hit, congrats on a job well done and thanks for sharing it with us.
-
I have some of those rings in the first post, the baby toy rings but Josey has hardly touched them but Hannah might love them.
-
She is the cutest thing wrapped up in that towel, thanks for sharing those with us.

So have I Dr Tak!
