  1. It does look an awful lot like your grey Kim but then all greys look the same, they both have the same stance in the pics.
  2. Hello Peanut and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have taken in a rehomed grey in need of a new forever home. I would allow him to come out of the cage on his own but leave his food and water inside the cage so he has to go back inside to snack or get a drink. He does need out of cage time and if you have trouble getting him back inside then put something he really likes to eat, maybe a nut or sunflower seed, so he has to go back inside to get to it. Most greys and a lot of other birds view their cage as their safe haven and some become very protective of it so do not stick your hand inside to get him, let him come out on his own, he may step up on your hand from outside the cage. As you have only had him for a few days give him time to settle in and unpack his bags so to speak, he will show more of his true personality as time goes on so do not be surprised by any new developments that may come to light in the coming weeks and months. Do you have any other birds? Is this your first bird, or first grey? What is his name? We have tons of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them when you get the chance and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of this grey you would share with us we would love to see them.
  3. The others have given you some excellent advice so I won't say much more than to tell you not to pay attention to horror stories like the one you conveyed, they are usually exaggerated to some extent. I do have a conure and she is a very sweet bird but yes she can be nippy sometimes but her bites never draw blood. You need to research fully to determine if a grey is a good fit for your home and your life and only you know if it does so if you think you can handle the mess, the attention and the noise then maybe you are ready.
  4. Josey has always went back into her cage when bedtime comes as she is usually playing on top of her cage anyways and of course it helps that she is flightless right now, I never have a problem with Sunny or Gypsy either.
  5. You better believe Sully is right on schedule and he is practicing his vocalizations, if he were silent then that is when I would start to worry but you will hear all sorts of sounds as he fine tunes it all. Thats great that he is a good eater but include some veggies along with a little seed and not too much fruit, otherwise you are doing great with him.
  6. OMG now I feel all dizzy, thanks for nothing Dave!
  7. Thanks Stephen for sharing that story with us, you are one lucky fella to get your precious Issac back safe and sound, now don't let it happen again.
  8. I love this Dave, so many different kinds of beautiful birds, amazing to watch, thanks for sharing it with us.
  9. Our prayers have been answered, take good care of Issac and get a good night's sleep.
  10. What are you doing sitting at the computer when you should be out looking for Issac, we will be ok while you are chasing him down, the next thing I want to hear from you is you have him in your hands so go get him.
  11. I'm still hoping and praying that Issac is found today, you two have such a wonderful relationship and maybe that will be the key to getting him back into your loving arms, please keep us informed.
  12. What a cutie Diego is and beautiful at that, I can see your son's baby picture in the background, thanks for sharing him with us and I bet we hear lots more about him.
  13. Stephen look in trees in your neighborhood, I doubt he has gone far, put his cage outside with food and water in it just on the chance he should come back and be hungry, keep calling for him and enlist neighbors to be on the lookout for him, make some posters and put them up, offer a reward for him and pray, pray like you have never prayed before.
  14. It does look like Diego is getting along well with your son and that is great, maybe he has the makings of a future bird owner, thanks for sharing that video with us, he is making that sound along with eating.
  15. I don't really have a recipe of my own as I use a variation of some of those here in the threads but no I do not have the nutrient break down, if you could do that with the recipes here then that would be great.
  16. OMG Stephen, I am so sad to hear that Issac flew away, I hope and pray that he returns safe and sound but stay out there and call for him, put out the word to everyone, friends, neighbors and family to be on the lookout, please keep us informed.
  17. You do seem a little excited and I am excited for you about getting this grey and rightly so for your life will change when this bird arrives and I hope it is a long and happy one, bet you won't sleep much in the coming days and especially the day before the arrival. August 10th will be here before you know it.
  18. Very nice looking playstand and Dolly looks good on it, she also has a few new flight feathers coming in too.
  19. Dan is so right, I live by the rule, "if in doubt toss it out" I don't want to feed my birds any tainted food as I wouldn't for the rest of the family including myself but thanks for sharing your story with us because you never know it might save another bird from the same fate.
  20. I am sure it is but one grey can be very demanding too as you will soon find out. Glad to hear it all went well and everything is going good so far but lets see what you say next week or next month, just kidding. Now don't forget we want to see some pictures when you get the chance to post them.
  21. Hello Autte and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are soon to be bringing home a baby grey, you are in for a treat you know that. I hope the flight is short and uneventful and he/she comes to you in fine form but be prepared to deal with a bird who may be a little stressed from the flight but soon should settle in and do just fine. You will find lots of useful information here in our many threads so do read thru as many as you can before you bring the baby home so you will know what you are dealing with for they are like night and day from parakeets. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Be sure to indulge us with some pics after the arrival for we want to admire your baby grey.
  22. Tiki does look very nice and I look forward to seeing some more pics when you get the chance. It does sound like he is settling in nicely but remember that he may not have unpacked all his baggage yet so be prepared for some new things to come to light in the coming weeks and months for greys who have had previous homes usually do but you should do fine with him as long as you give him time and be patient with him.
  23. I'm counting on it Julie. DrTak as I will only be going thru the London airports I won't get the chance to see the sights there but that was not the point of my trip, I wanted to meet Julie as we have become quite good friends and to see the things around where she lives will be good enough for me, who knows maybe I will return another year and we will go to somewhere else.
  24. Hello 1Gray and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you adopted an older grey in need of a good home. I can't say that I agree with you on changing her diet so abruptly but it was good she took to the pellets but she needs other foods besides that, please do look around the bird food room for lots of advice and what to feed your grey. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them when you get the chance and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of her if you have some you would share with us, btw, what is her name?
