  1. I am still very skeptical of this situation but if it works out for Charlie let me be the first to say I might be wrong for I truly have his best interests at heart, hope it helps Charlie, keep us updated Shelia.
  2. It looks like you will have to start from ground zero to gain her trust again, just like when you first got her, something obviously frightened her and figuring out what it was is like looking for a needle in a haystack but things happen so just go about caring for her like she was just introduced to your home, speak softly to her and by all means do not force anything on her right now, let her decide when she is ready for more, good luck to you.
  3. That was so profound Dan, I find myself crying when reading this poem, it really touches the heartstrings, thanks for sharing it with us.
  4. You have an adorable grey and so glad to hear that things are improving already, keep up the good work and it will only get better, thanks for sharing some pictures of Pipo with us.
  5. I put ice cubes in Josey's water bowl every day, she doesn't play with or try to eat them but it provides her with cold water at least for awhile until it melts, maybe you could try just putting that mixture you made into an ice cube tray and then putting one or two of them in one of his bowls in the cage and see if Diego will try them that way, just a thought.
  6. Cocoa always looks great, she is very photogenic and Sanggay is not shy about posting pics of her in her activities, I love seeing her no matter what she is into or doing, thanks again for sharing the pics with us.
  7. Wow thats a great update and I am so glad to hear she is flying and getting better at it every day, I know it warms your heart to see her accomplish this and it is a great confidence booster.
  8. I am so sorry to hear that there is no medical reason for Charlie's plucking but I am afraid I have to agree with Dave about putting him with those other greys for he could be hurt terribly by one of the other birds and then you would never forgive yourself for putting him in that position. I think you should just give Charlie your love and attention and accept him the way he is plucked or not and thank your lucky stars he is healthy otherwise. Like Dave said some greys just become chronic pluckers and there is not much you can do about it. We all know Charlie is a beautiful grey no matter what his outside looks like, he is your grey baby, the love of your life and take him as he is but love him unconditionally as he loves you Shelia.
  9. Yes you do have a great job but its the ones that don't make it that would make the job difficult to take, you are lucky that you have a job you enjoy and I bet that little quaker was so grateful, thanks for sharing that part of your day with us.
  10. I am so sorry but you are going to have to start from scratch to earn his trust again, let this be a lesson to you and everyone that retaliatory action will only accomplish getting your grey to mistrust you so never, ever hit a grey with anything. You remember what you did when you first got him to get him to trust and love you so start now to do just that and it may take a long time for they have good memories but he may eventually come around so good luck to you.
  11. What a beautiful story of Cricket, you both are so blessed and thanks for sharing the story with us.
  12. I loved it and thanks for sharing it with us.
  13. What a heartwarming story of a pony who just wouldn't quit, the loss of a leg doesn't keep her down, thanks so much for sharing that story with us.
  14. This is wonderful news, I knew she would be found and now that she is back I hope you will stay around and share stories and pictures with us, we kind of got to know you a little and it would be a shame if you left never to be heard from again.
  15. Hello Mike and welcome to our family, it is great to hear you are researching to make sure a grey is the best fit for your household. What an adorable little squirrel that you took in and cared for until it was old enough to take care of itself, you must be very proud, you saved its life for sure. Lots of members here have other pets besides just their bird or birds and they can coexist in the same home if you take the precautions to make sure everyone is safe, supervision is what it takes just like with small children. A grey can adapt to whatever schedule you have as long as he/she has plenty of out of cage time each day and attention from you and/or your family, a lot of us including me work full time but we make time for our fids just as we would for our human children. I look forward to hearing more about this baby grey and when you get the chance to get some pictures please consider sharing them with us as we love baby pics.
  16. How about this picture of a king vulture, who wants to come up with a good caption for this "beautiful" bird!
  17. It looks like you all had a lovely adventure out at Dartmoor and I can't wait to visit there next week when I am over, Pippa looks to be enjoying herself immensely, what a great outing and thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  18. I have two tattoos and am wanting another one, just haven't decided what or where I want it but I will go back to the same place I had my other two done for they do quality work. Good luck to you and I hope you find what you want and it turns out to be everything you hoped for.
  19. Thanks for that list Dave, most things I already knew I should have but you have included some that I had never thought of like the sock with the toe portion cut off, to peel down over their body to help immobilize them if necessary.
  20. You should subscribe to Bird Talk magazine as it always has a section in the back devoted to bird fairs, seminars and conventions, all places you will see birds and breeders.
  21. He is gorgeous Janet and I bet you will have him won over soon enough, just keep up the good work you are doing and you two will be fine, thanks for sharing a couple of pics of him with us.
  22. Yep Josey does that too and only manages to soak the floor and surrounding area while she stays relatively dry, oh what the heck, its all in a day's mess.
  23. Louie is a cutie and I am pleased to hear he is going to be adopted and not just fostered, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
