  1. One of these days we will find out your real first name but for now I guess we will have to settle for calling you "Face"
  2. I think Kito is a real ham, she plays it up for the camera, what a hoot she is hanging off the door, thanks for sharing them with us.
  3. She probably needs to build up her chest muscles before she can fly if she has been grounded so far, they don't just pick up and fly since greys tend to be heavy bodied birds and they need those muscles to be able to lift their body for flight, try holding her on your arm and moving her slowly up and down to make her flap her wings. I can sympathize with having a bird who is flighted but only takes flight when spooked as my sun conure is that way, I used to clip her when she was young but not for several years now and she won't fly to me but if spooked she will take off like a light.
  4. Lots of times the people who work in these kind of stores are about like people who work in fast food places, they are a sandwich short of a picnic if you get my drift.

    Kito Tricks

Kito is one smart cookie and performs on cue, she is so cute, thanks for sharing it with us.
  6. Sometimes it takes a while for a grey to warm up to a new toy but some of those baby toys do make excellent toys for greys, give Neo some time and maybe he will be competing with the grandchild to play with it, from a safe distance of course.
  7. Well congrats Karen and glad to hear Sadie is coming to her new home, a new forever home, I know you are excited and well should be but you have a difficult road to follow now with a rescue but I think you will do fine, you know she will have baggage she will have to unpack but give her time and patience and she should blossom under your care. You do have quite a flock going but whats one more bird, can't wait to hear more about her and maybe see some pictures, thanks for giving her a new forever home.
  8. Finally you are taking our advice, I am glad you found that this will not be an overnight fix, this is going to be a long slow process but at least you have the right attitude now and taking it slow for many weeks and months down the road you will find you did the right thing. Just think in terms of small steps, what you accomplish at one time may not be much but it all adds up to eventually earning Timmy's trust and you will earn it.
  9. I haven't seen that movie in many many years but it is a good one, will have to look for it as now I want to see it again, yes it was exaggerated somewhat but then what movie isn't glorifed for drama.
  10. Thats funny and how long does it take for her to get over her little tiff with you, birds can be so spoiled and I bet you encourage it a little too for the drama.
  11. You are going to have a problem when her feathers grow out and she regains flight, can you put screens on your windows to keep her inside the house without sacrificing the fresh air but I am by no means saying you should clip her, please don't but you are going to have to get creative in doing what you have to keep her safe.
  12. Yes I have a copy of that, in fact I have several books on african greys, my favorite is ":For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker but this particular one is a good read too.
  13. It takes some practice with a digital camera but keep trying and you will get some good shots, you may have to get a little creative to get them but I look forward to seeing some when you get the hang of it.
  14. Yeah the pet banners are back up and running, guess the problem was sorted.
  15. Here in the USA we call it Veteran's Day but it means the same thing.
  16. Poor Jill was suckered in by that big macaw, don't worry as you were not the first and certainly won't be the last, did you have a funeral for the missing chunk! I'm right there with ya Jill, I keep my distance from anything bigger than a grey.
  17. Hammco, you have only had Timmy for a couple of weeks and that is not near enough time to make such judgments about Timmy, he is not mean but he has been mistreated in his former home and he has not had enough time to get used to you yet so be patient with him and give him some space, you are going to have to earn his trust so don't push him right now. Azzie has given you some sound advice so slow down and take it easy with Timmy, you will never win him over with force.
  18. Karen you are a real sweetheart and this bird will be so lucky to end up in your care, good luck to you.
  19. I have seen that drawing one before but it is amazing to watch when it is speeded up like that but both were great, thanks for sharing them with us.
  20. That is a greyt story Karen and Gabby knew what she was talking about, you have a very smart bird, thanks for sharing that story with us as I loved it.
  21. Please let us know what you find out and good luck to you Shawn.
  22. Me too Val for it is much too difficult and it may end up as "Cat face" We make a cranberry apple casserole for Thankgiving that is sooooooooooooooooooo good, yummy.
  23. Chris, about the foot if it has been that way since it hatched as in a birth defect then the bird will learn to get along with it that way as it doesn't know any different, handicapped birds learn to adapt to their deformities and you may have to make a few adjustments to the cage or playstand but I doubt it, I bet that bird does just fine with the foot the way it is, lovely picture of a beautiful macaw, thanks for sharing it with us.
