  1. Hello Tamara and its great to hear you have been doing research before you committed to getting one of these amazing creatures, I have a female Cag but I don't think it makes a lot of difference which sex you get as they are all wonderful pets. It would help to know where you are located to give you some places to look for breeders.
  2. Hello JC, long time no see but good to have you back on the forum again, you have been missed, looking forward to hearing more about you and maybe some pictures of Bobo too.
  3. Yes please Ray if you have anything to contribute do so.
  4. It does seem as if Coco is happy where he is and has been there for some time now so why rock the boat, the guy gave him up pure and simple and in my opinion he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
  5. Exactly for they are few out of so many but we have no control over who they seem to prefer and Timmy has taken a liking to your wife but that doesn't mean you are left out in the cold, you can have a good relationship with him but not like the one with her. This scenario is played out in many homes with greys in them, one does all the care for the bird and another does nothing but ends up as the favored one, you might as well accept it for what it is. Timmy may always prefer her to you but you continue what you are doing and see what happens. Greys are all individuals and no two of them are going to act alike.
  6. I want to say thanks for sharing that video with us Lyn but some of those images are sickening to see, what deplorable conditions some of our feathered friends have had to endure, it is so sad that this happens all too frequently.
  7. A blonde teenager, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handy-woman" and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do. "Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch," he said, "How much will you charge me?" Delighted, the girl quickly responded, "How about $50?" The man agreed and told her that the paint brushes and everything she would need was in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the conversation said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?" He responded, "That's a bit cynical, isn't it?" The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes we've been getting by email lately." Later that day, the blonde teenager came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" the startled husband asked. "Yes, she replied, and I even had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50.00 and handed it to her along with a $10.00 tip. "And by the way, "the blonde teenager added, "it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus!!
  8. I have a relative who is a hoarder, she used to babysit my kids when they were young and she had a lot of stuff sitting around but later she and her husband got worse with it, sometimes it was just a pathway open thru her house, mind you she never piled up dirty dishes and such but collected things and never wanted to throw something away for she might need it later. I haven't been in her house for years now but I pity the one who has to go thru all that stuff after she passes away, she is 82 years old and never had kids.
  9. Well hello Koko, he is a fine looking grey even if he does have a bad foot but that is a good sign that he is able to use it, he will be getting around and climbing like any other grey, thanks for updating us on him and sharing the pictures.
  10. I have been giving my list a thought but not much happening, if you wait until after Thanksgiving is over with Christmas is almost upon us.
  11. I was treated to those this summer when Josey ate fresh beets out of our garden, she dropped the prettiest looking purplish bombs, they always made me laugh at the sight of them.
  12. Hello Megan and welcome to our family, so glad you want to join the ranks of grey ownership.
  13. I hope Josey never lays an egg but you just never know, good to know we have such knowledgeable members to advise us, thanks so much Dave and I hope your grey is going to be just fine Omni, let us know what you find out this afternoon.
  14. We all learn something new every day and I haven't given my fids any pommies yet for I don't want to see the dreaded "bloodbath" afterward.
  15. My thoughts exactly as blood is never a good sign.
  16. Now what causes that swirling in the water, inquiring minds want to know and yes we have lots of deer here too, in fact I have them in my yard almost daily.
  17. I agree that Sadie needs to stay in the cage that is familiar to her for a while, glad to hear she is home and doing fine so far and I hope she does turn out to be a cuddle bug, it will be interesting to see if your sixth sense is right or as I usually call it my gut feeling, looking forward to seeing some pictures of the lovely Sadie, I just have a feeling that she will blossom under the tender care of someone who knows what she needs and wants.
  18. I remember that plastic bag rescue attempt too Dee and only Jill could share such a story with us, glad it is only fiction.
  19. Its guaranteed to come off when she goes thru a complete molt so forgetaboutit! She is pretty sitting there by the tv watching soccer.
  20. That would be wise to at least cover part of her cage if you get indications she needs it, poor dear to have to live like she did but who knows she might just brighten up once she gets in a new environment. I see you have dogs too but you are a more responsible owner so therefore you will make them keep their distance at least for a while until Sadie feels safe, I can't wait to see some pictures of her.
  21. That scares me for you had in no way given him the time he needed to settle in but it looks like things have improved a lot but don't think it will be all roses and sweetness from now on but you have certainly broken ground on a good foundation so lets keep it going.
  22. I am so sorry to hear that Shanti flew out the door but the others have given you some good advice to follow. You can always offer a reward, sometimes people will be more willing to help if they know some money is involved.
  23. I'd say you have one lucky grey with that cage and setup, remember to keep some toys to rotate from time to time, I know you can't wait until that day he comes home, I want to see some pics of him in his cage after he arrives.
  24. That will teach him not to grab everything he sees, I bet that was a sight seeing Harvey work up that jellybean in his beak! Speaking of that "proper round ball version" you must be talking about soccer for everyone knows that "football" is played with an oval ball!
