  1. What a precious looking baby grey, I love them when they are at this age with the dark eyes, thanks for sharing the pic with us, Sid is adorable.
  2. Yes I would advise you get him to the vet soon for birds are experts at hiding illness until they can no longer hide it and being sleepy and not eating is sure signs of illness, give your avian vet a call now.
  3. Lucy is a very special bird and I think it was meant for the two of you to be together, you are both so blessed, she is such a sweetheart.
  4. I do hope this helps Janet but do keep us informed as I know you will.
  5. That is very interesting but beautiful, amazing how that looks, thanks for sharing that with us Jill.
  6. She looks like she is doing just fine Chris, how long will that bandage have to stay on and is she leaving it alone?
  7. Yes Neil it is and it is good that you are allowing him to make the decision to allow you to stroke his neck, you are doing great with him so far but don't push him for more than he is willing to give right now to earn his trust.
  8. I am so envious because Josey gave up cuddling a long time ago as most of them do, you enjoy what you have and those kids are just jealous it is the bird and not them, nothing weird about it.
  9. Is it Dan or is it Dayo, he does have you down to a T, thanks for sharing it with us Dan.
  10. All birds will chew on things and greys need things especially toys that they can tear up because thats just what they do. You have had him for a month now, well the honeymoon is over and his real personality is emerging and he is unpacking his bags. You need to provide him with toys and such for him to play with and destroy and be sure to include a heavy duty bell that he can attack play with, its a grey thing. Does he have any playstands with toys on them he can play on when he is out of the cage? If he is out a lot during the day then you will have to make the house or the rooms he stays in safe for him, hide electrical cords so they don't get chewed on, sort of like babyproofing to keep him safe. You will have to help direct him to safer things to play with and destroy and they don't have to be store bought toys, we have a toys and playstands room where you will find lots of ideas and suggestions for making toys from items commonly found in the home and making foraging toys, toys that he has to tear up or work at to get to a treat inside.
  11. Lucy will be just fine Chris and she is cuddling with you for she feels safe there, poor dear but it will all be over with soon and she will learn how to get around again and amaze you with her skill, keep us informed and I look forward to seeing some pics when you get the chance.
  12. Why not Tanya, if he is only eating a bite or two of it then why bother, he will get over it, give him some kind of treat in place of it, something he likes.
  13. I had given my grey a pinata for Christmas but she hasn't destroyed it, took her a long time to even go anywhere near it but my sun conure did tear her's up, that would be a good idea to put treats in it, I will check those out.
  14. Thanks Dave for the reply to this thread, I didn't know the answer so I didn't respond, makes sense to me.
  15. Most all greys do that, I call it chicken scratching but mine does it because she wants out of the cage and that may very well be why yours is doing it, it is normal behavior so no need to worry.
  16. If you don't want your grey on your shoulder then you will have to keep taking him down when he tries to get up there, take your other hand and put it in front of him and block his way and when he gets on that arm then keep doing it, eventually he will get the message but it will take lots of times. You have only had him for a couple of days so be patient with him but it is natural for them to want to go for the highest place on you other than your head. Most greys love sunflower seeds but nuts are great treats, just watch when you offer him things what he goes for first.
  17. He looks to be saying "ok you got me" nice close ups of Timmy, he is very handsome, thanks for sharing.
  18. Anything paper will get destroyed very quickly, try giving him some tops off water or 2 liter soda bottles, they are a hit with Josey and other greys, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  19. This is one reason why I don't go on these sites so I don't have to look at these sorry people and how they treat their "pets" more like possessions than pets.
  20. For some of us thats the only "macaw" we can have, enjoyed it, thanks for sharing it with us.
  21. This is great news Jess and Robin will take very good care of Yoshi, that is evident of the ones she has now, so glad that someone from greyforums was willing and able to take her into their home and give her the love and attention she is used to. I know you will be heartbroken to have to give her up but it does ease things when you know she will be in good hands.
  22. I bet by now your grey has had some water, I don't see my grey much at the water bowl but I am sure she goes when she is thirsty gets a drink and is back playing with her toys, you don't see them taking a drink unless you are looking right at them at the time.
  23. That grey does look like it is a little older than 3 months, maybe 6 months or so, at 3 months the eyes are still very much black.
  24. Your son is a cutie, chip off the ole block it looks like but Timmy looks good sitting there and I hope they continue to get along just fine, thanks for sharing the pic with us.
  25. Strong and tight, always and forever! Thanks Adina for sharing that with us.
