  1. I have to say not to do that, not without the advice of your avian vet, don't assume he has worms just because he doesn't weigh what you think he should.
  2. She is adorable and she loves her rope so you will have to get her another one, thanks for sharing the pictures with us, they are great pics and nothing to be embarrassed about.
  3. Well hello Cosmo and welcome to the flock, two may have been a pair but three is a flock with three times the fun, he is a handsome fella and looks like he fits right in with Billy and Echo, thanks for sharing some pictures of him with us.
  4. I think I paid $950 for Josey but I found many around $1000, $1100 or so, guess it varies depending on where you live and the availability.
  5. No one should be embarrassed to post their pictures here for we all have been guilty of not having the cleanest cage at all times and if a toy looks ragged then it means it was played with and enjoyed, we would love to see some of your pictures so post away. You do not have a poor birdie, you have the richest one in your eyes!
  6. You have a great bunch of birds and that is wonderful they all get along with one another so that way they can share a playstand, may of us have multiple birds but they cannot be on the same stand with the others for they don't get along, have they always been that way? I can see from the picture that Elly has a deformed knee but you say it doesn't hinder her at all, that doesn't surprise me in the least especially if she has had it from birth, she doesn't let it hold her back from enjoying life and she sounds like a real sweetheart. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  7. Hello Fares and wecome to our family, so glad you could join us. Please allow time for your baby grey to settle into his new home and realize he may not want held at times and that is his only defense mechanism so he bites. There are going to be times your grey won't want you messing with him so respect his wishes and you have had him for such a short time. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and ask questions you may have and we wll help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of him if you have some you would share with us. BTW, what is his name?
  8. Looks nice Sanggay and I bet they enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, what lucky birds to have something as nice as this, I will add this to my hubby's list of things to make for me, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  9. Yeah because no one not even his greys are going to step in Dave's food!
  10. Hello John and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are adding a grey to your life. Do you have any other birds? Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures of your new grey when you get the chance.
  11. Maybe the next time you go visit you could take a couple of pictures and share them with us as we love looking at the babies.
  12. You should really get a cage big enough so that your grey can open his wings to flap and not be able to touch the sides and that is pretty big, most cages that big come with 1" or bigger spacing. I do not think that 1" spacing is too big for a grey but I wouldn't go any higher especially if you get a Tag as they are slightly smaller than Cags. It is smart to get a big enough cage for even if your grey will be out most of the day they need the room for days they do have to spend a lot of time in them because you are gone. I have one similar to this one with the playtop on one side: http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/Large_Bird_Cages/PA5743
  13. Dixie is making sure she gets her beauty sleep so it doesn't matter if you had more work to do, she rules the roost so whatever she says goes, who needs a clock when she says its time, its time, Night Night!
  14. That is such a sweet picture and so glad your wife caught that, I guess Mojo was tired too and allowed her to pick him up and put him to bed, thanks so much for sharing that pic with us, you should blow it up some and frame it.
  15. I do not allow my birds to walk thru my plate, after all there has to be some measure of decorum, they have their own bowls that I have given them some of what we are eating and some just for them but for some people if they allow their birds to eat from their plate then whatever works for them is fine. If you do not want your bird in your plate then you will have to set some boundaries and find the solution that works for you.
  16. That works well too, just eat some of what you want him to eat and he will want it, like monkey see, monkey do they want what they see you eat. You may have to try the vegetables fixed in different ways for some like them raw, cooked, mashed, chopped and mixed all together, just get creative and keep offering them. Try weaving leaves of dark green leafy vegetables like kale, mustard greens, collards or beet tops, they will tear them up to get them out but may eat some in the process.

    flour?

If you are baking things for your bird to eat I would use the whole wheat flour for it is better for them just like it is for us.
  18. Hello Taylorsmom and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are bringing a grey into your life. You can't judge all greys by the personality of one individual grey because they are all different but as a whole the Tags usually are less prone than Cags to be one person birds. My Cag is bonded to me and usually she will only let me handle her but she has a good relationship with my hubby, she will give him kisses and sometimes goes over on his shoulder for a few minutes. Please continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask those questions you have and we will help you in any way we can.

    Cease and desist!

  20. Some greys can be allowed shoulder time and others cannot, if your grey is constantly going for the ears or any part of the face then you cannot allow them to shoulder sit for it is hard to observe their body language in that position but my Josey doesn't do that and she comes down when asked so she gets that priviledge.
  21. I cannot read that message from your wife without crying my eyes out, it is so sad but it shows the love you all had for Grey and even though it had the tears flowing it makes me happy that she was so loved and cherished, even though her life was cut so short she was blessed and now you are left with the memories which you will always remember, you all touched her life as much as she touched yours. If posting this helps with the healing process then we are glad to be of some comfort to you.
  22. You should take a stroll thru the threads in the homemade toys and playstands room for some ideas for toys, there are a lot of them using common things you find around the house so they are practically free.
  23. He sounds like a real sweetheart Dee and I am as pleased as punch that it has gone as smoothly as it has, he is one amazing grey and I couldn't be happier for you, thanks for sharing a couple of pics of him with us.
  24. The only way to keep them off your shoulder is to keep them from climbing up there in the first place, when he starts going for the shoulder put your other hand out to stop him, he will probably go over on that arm and continue for the shoulder but keep it up, you will have to do it hundreds of times but he will finally get the message he is not allowed there. If he flies to your head then put your arm up to divert him away so he cannot land there, after being swatted away a few times he will stop that too. I do allow my grey to sit on my shoulder but only for short periods of time, she comes down when asked and doesn't bother my ears and face but some greys have a different personality that they want to bite or nibble what is close to them so they have to be denied shoulder priviledges, they have to be earned as it is not a given right. If he is a young grey then he will more than likely want to be moving around a lot, its when they get mature they settle down and sit for longer periods of time and are content to just be nearby their flock members.
  25. He might surprise you and love it, sometimes the things we think they would love they ignore and things we don't think they would like they love to pieces so hopefully he will be grateful for your efforts, I like it and I haven't even seen it yet.
