  1. I forget sometimes how it is in the city or in large neighborhoods where people live close to one another as I live out in the country and do not have this problem, no one looks in my windows except for maybe a deer or two and none of my neighbors can even hear my birds even with the windows open.
  2. Usually they won't eat pieces of toys and such but yes it could pose a problem if he does actually swallow it, I would take away any toy he can get pieces off of, usually the acrylic toys are the safest as they are practically indestructable but watch closely when he plays with these toys you are buying. Most of the baby toys are safe for our greys but not all so be careful. I would be careful of any of those toys with parts to them that could be broken off.
  3. We love french toast so I will be trying this, thanks Jill for the recipe.
  4. Thanks Jill, learn something new every day.
  5. Very nicely done Sanggay, you have another bird trained to the harness ready for outdoor adventures.
  6. LOL welcome to the world of greys and I love your captions Ray! PMSL
  7. Did you take your grey in to see the vet or did the vet just prescribe the amoxicillin over the phone? I am surprised he prescribed something without actually examining your grey but if that is what he told you to give it then he knows best as we are not vets here, why don't you give your vet a call for clarification.
  8. This is very worrying for you and I hope it all turns out well, its too bad the vet couldn't give you any reassurance but I have my fingers crossed for you, Milly and George, keep us posted.
  9. Its good to hear you are still in existence, I just figured you were super busy and I may be turning an unused room into a bird room myself, let us know about your progress and I look forward to seeing some pictures.
  10. Hello Bharps and welcome to our family, you are going to be super busy with two baby greys. Wow you have chosen to take on two baby greys at one time, do you have any other birds? Yes we are proud of our site which is full of information of firsthand experience and you may find the answers to some of your questions in the coming weeks and months ahead in them so refer back to past threads for lots of useful info. You will have to share some pictures of Kayla and Lola when you finally get them home as we love admiring the baby greys.
  11. What great looking birds you have, thanks for sharing them with us.
  12. I have to ask why you have a 5 week old grey baby for handfeeding these precious birds belongs in the hands of those who know what they are doing and from the questions you are asking you don't have a clue, why don't you take that baby back where you got it and get some help or better yet, leave the baby in their care until it is fully weaned.
  13. I have 3 birds and I can tell their poops apart, of course it helps that each is a different kind of bird.
  14. Hello Casey and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you, BamBam and Fred. So sorry to hear that Bambam doesn't see you in the same light as she used to, guess she doesn't like playing second fiddle to a human child but she may get over it one day, not much you can do about it but accept it and move on but you are so right about Fred, he will come around in time as you know already that it takes time for a grey to feel comfortable in a new home so be patient. I have to comment about your getting BamBam out of her cage by handling her with gloves, why don't you just allow her to come out on her own for 2 reasons, one is greys can be territorial about their cages hence they may not like you putting your hands inside to get her and two is using gloves does not promote trust as it usually strikes fear in them so why not lay off using the gloves and let her decide if and when she comes out to join the family and see if it makes any difference in how she relates to you, just a suggestion. I also feel for the cockatoo as it is a common thing for them to pluck and mutilate themselves, I have seen it many times and I hope the vet can do something to help her but just giving her a home helps a lot for she needs the stablility of a new forever home for however long that will be. We love pictures here so if you have some of BamBam and Fred you would share with us we would appreciate it and we have an other birds room where you may share some of your too if you like.
  15. Jayla is as lovely as her name, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  16. Sully looks great on his back playing with that ball, he is having such fun and I am so envious because Josey will not go over on her back, thanks for sharing that with us.
  17. Hello Mandy and welcome to our family, so glad you have yourself a grey and is this your first grey and your first parrot? Please do allow some time for Jayla to settle into her new home as greys tend to take things slowly and she has to get to know you first before the bonding process can take place. She needs to be allowed to come out of her cage on her own so do not put your hand inside the cage to get her as some greys view their cage as their safety zone and will get territorial over it. You will have to earn her trust by not forcing her to day anything she doesn't want to and she will let you know when she is ready for more interaction with you. Do read thru the many threads here for lots of useful information and ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I have to echo the sentiments of the former posters as to pictures, we love to see pictures of each other's birds.
  18. Oh they are more like freckles than the whole feather being red, how pretty is that but then we always knew Issac was special, a very handsome fella indeed.
  19. You are right about the beets as I have fed them to Josey and her poop the next morning was the prettiest shade of purplish red, very colorful but can be frightening if you don't remember giving them the beets. For some reason when they are fresh out of the garden they color the poops more so than if just canned beets and it does me the same way, heh heh.
  20. Greys and other birds are not bothered by the stuff that makes the sauce hot so you can give Abby those hot peppers you can not stand to eat for they won't bother her in the least.
  21. No they do not, one doesn't pay any attention to the other and besides neither of them talk, only my grey talks but they are company for each other and if one of them is left in a room by themselves then they call for the others. Josey can do perfect imitations of the conure and cockatiel calls though, you can not tell which is which.
  22. I just saw it again today this time in 3D and it was awesome, I took my grandson to see it and he loved it too, it is well worth the extra cost the 3D version is as it really brings it to life.
  23. Any of the conures would be of comparable size though they tend to be loud, the quakers are another comparable size but they are outlawed in some states so check your state's status on that, caiques are of similar size and so are the pionus parrots.
  24. To answer your question Eshana in Brazil the Spix macaw is referred to as the little blue macaw and you can read more about the bird at this site: http://www.avianweb.com/spixsmacaw.html
  25. Hello Judy and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you, Bigelow and Patty. It looks like your two greys get along good together, that doesn't always happen but it is so great when they can play together, you are very lucky indeed. You will find loads of information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us and we look forward to seeing lots more.
