  1. Audi is a baby cockatiel, you can see the pins of the crest coming out and starting to stand up, going to be a real cutie.
  2. One of my favorites is "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker and I also recommend these: "The African Grey Parrot Handbook" by Mattie Sue Athan and Dianalee Deter, "African Grey Parrots" by Maggie Wright, "African Grey Parrots by Nikki Moustaki.
  3. My understanding is that most female greys kept as pets will not lay eggs as they are one species of bird that usually requires the presence of a mate to be so inclined to do so but I have a female who is going on 5 years of age and I will be watching to see if she does ever lay an egg but likely she never will. Dave007 will be able to tell us more about the possibility of our female pet greys laying eggs.

    New baby

This is so wonderful you are giving this baby a home for many would see this bird as "imperfect" but like you said he does not see himself as "damaged" and will probably amaze you with what all he will be able to do. I had no idea you had so many birds with defects but as you found out they are just as lovable and amazing as "perfect" ones.
  5. Robin that is how it goes sometimes but it is good that your husband accepts his role as her favored person as we have seen many who didn't besides you have so many birds now that it would be difficult if every one of them favored only you, count yourself very lucky.
  6. Hello FlyFree and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are wanting to add a grey to your life. Please check out these two sites for breeders in your area: www.avianbiotech.com and www.birdbreeders.com In the meantime read thru the threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  7. It is still VPI pet insurance, if you click on get a quote you are directed to the other web site.
  8. I don't have my birds covered but this is one site that has been recommended before: http://www.petinsurance.com/Plans-And-Coverage/Birds-And-Exotic-Pets.aspx
  9. That is so cute and it just shows how much he loves his food, so much so that he is willing to wear it, he is truly enjoying it, precious!
  10. Thats the best thing to do and in time I imagine he will do it less and less since he no longer hears it but they can be annoying when they repeat a sound like that, it will be replaced with new sounds he likes to mimic. Dan's suggestion to file his talons down is a good one and maybe if you start when he is young he may be more accepting of it, I wish I had started Josey off with doing that and it also helps to have several rough perches in his cage placed strategically where he is likely to use them, next to food and water bowls. The puppy toy may have reminded him of the dogs the breeder had.
  11. I am so sorry this has happened, it looks like to me the officer could have taken some other action besides taking the dog's life but it is their discretion to use such force if necessary, probably just the fact that the dog was a doberman factored in his demise, how sad the officer made this decision.
  12. They are slow cookers, you load them up with ingredients and they cook for 8 to 10 hours, for example you take a roast and some vegetables, put them in with some seasonings and when you get home from work it is done and ready to eat. http://www.crock-pot.com/ http://www.crock-pot.com/Product.aspx?cid=112&pid=357
  13. I do the exact same thing Lori including using you more than her name, Josey.
  14. Cricket is gorgeous but she looks like she wasn't too happy about the snapshot, maybe you didn't give her enough time to properly primp before you took the picture but thanks for sharing it with us.
  15. I am so glad to hear that Zakica is fine and landing in all that dust didn't help matters at all, maybe they will clean the place from top to bottom now that the dust has settled, pun intended.

    Peugeot

That tiel is adorable with the crest standing straight up, thanks for sharing them with us. Armani sounds good coming off the tongue! Cocoa certainly has good taste.
  17. Sanggay is getting that tiel ready to accept the harness even though it is incapable of flight yet but soon, very soon.
  18. What a gorgeous baby grey you have there and please do let us know how the introduction goes, wow you have 2 greys now, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  19. He is just letting you know the bath was not a good idea but he will come around again soon as it is still early in the getting to know you process, I think you are doing wonderful so far, he is one smart cookie and keep the updates coming as we love hearing how things are going.
  20. Hello Jaja and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and Jaja. Is he the only bird you have right now? He is a fine looking specimen from your avatar picture and if you have any other pics of him you would share with us we would love to see them. You will learn lots from reading thru the many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  21. As funny as it sounds sometimes they have to be taught how to play and maybe forage too but it won't take him long to figure it out. Does he have a big bell to bang around as those are a favorite of greys?
  22. Willie looks like he is an older bird but they are both lovely looking tiels, thanks for sharing the pics with us Ray.
  23. The only thing I can suggest is when you realize you have been fooled by her don't make a big deal out of it, she is doing it because of the reaction she is getting so when you find out the noise is her just ignore it, don't even laugh about it just go about your business as if nothing happened.
  24. I would provide pellets in their cage at all times so if they get hungry they can snack on them, I put pellets in Josey's cage in a separate bowl and she goes to it from time to time during the day and eats them, since they are dry they can last all day or night unlike fresh foods.
  25. Nice sunset pictures and they make a good backdrop for Cocoa, thanks for sharing them with us.
