  1. Save your money Amanda as this is mostly just a scam and certainly a waste of money, why don't you give Barbara Heidenreich a chance as she knows more and has a wonderful site, I have included a link to it: http://www.goodbirdinc.com/

Catalina looks like a real sweetheart and shame on those other people for backing out, they won't know what they missed.
  3. What an adorable baby grey and congrats on him being a male.
  4. I really don't know and I guess it would depend on the type of bird as I was told a cockatiel would not go too far but I have heard of birds going a good distance, maybe one of our experts can enlighten us about it.
  5. It certainly looks like Sully has found the right person and I hope it continues to blossom with those two, keep us informed Janet.
  6. I hope this grey is reunited with its owner soon.
  7. I was at a bird club convention over the weekend and saw many of those colored chains, I already had one or two for Josey so I did not buy any more but they are out there.
  8. I am so glad to hear that Paco is doing well in his new home and yes it is unbelieveable how cruel some people can be but he has landed in a new forever home and is appreciating it, I see many more wonderful things happening in his new life. And don't you worry about those people who abused Paco as they will get their comeuppance. Thanks for sharing the picture with us and know we will be seeing more of Paco.
  9. Hello Corey and welcome to our family, looking forward to hearing a lot more about you and Shady, thanks for sharing some pictures of Shady.
  10. I know as much as you hate to give Sully up it may be for the best if Jordan is the one he takes to and from what you have told us it seems a good match, please keep us informed of further progress and I hope this is going to be a permanent solution as he deserves it.
  11. I knew Slater would come to get used to it, just takes him longer being a grey and allowing him time to adjust has been the trick, glad to hear they are enjoying their new bird room for they are so lucky to have it, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  12. Thats so great to hear and I hope the progress continues, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  13. Wow, now thats just cute overload, thanks for sharing that with us.
  14. Its always good to hear your fids are great at whatever the cost.
  15. Happy Birthday Penny, I already knew it was your birthday but it is on the calendar here at greyforums, check bottom of page.
  16. I don't think the size of the cage will matter in building your relationship with him and may I suggest you allow him to come out of the cage on his own without sticking your hands inside to get him. Some greys are territorial about their cage, it is their safe haven and do not like anyone putting their hands inside, just open his door and let him come out and then have him step up. At this time I would just concentrate on building trust without using your hands if he fears them, sit by his cage and talk softly to him, read him the newspaper or a magazine, maybe offer him a treat, this will take some time and patience on your part and just take it slowly and go at his pace. He will come around and it is important not to push him for more than he is willing to give, let him be the judge of when he is ready for more.
  17. Hello Amanda and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you want to enrich your life with an african grey, what a journey you are about to begin. I am so glad you did the research to find out if a grey was a good fit for you, it would surprise you how many buy one on a whim with no idea of what they are getting into and then the bird winds up in a rehome or rescue situation, I commend you for doing your homework. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Burt and maybe some day you can share more about him and your special relationship, we have a Pet Memorial room where you can put a tribute to his memory if you like.
  18. I don't see why not, it has the necessities, food and water bowls but for a grey I would go with the larger version.
  19. Wonderful video Dan, it does my heart good to see them return to their natural environment, thanks for sharing that with us Dan.
  20. Excellent idea for a room usually needs furniture or something to soften the sound, a rug would do the trick, thanks Ray for suggesting it.
  21. Congrats Chris on your new addition to the flock and you do it because you have a big heart, can't wait to see some pictures of Stevie.
  22. Roland, please do take it slow and easy gaining his trust, it may take quite a while but keep at it, expect small setbacks from time to time but consistency is key. Sit by his cage and talk to him, read a newspaper or magazine to him and let him get used to being around you, offer him treats and you will learn when he is ready for more interaction. Yes the towel is best not used unless you absolutely have to, like taking him to the vet as I doubt he will be wanting to even see a towel in the near future without freaking out. Keep him in the part of the house where the family spends most of their time when home as they like to know what is going on and it will help to encourage him to want to be a part of what is going on in the household. Remember this can take months or even a year or more but it will be worth it.
  23. Well congrats on Kazoo being a female and not a male, doesn't matter if she thinks she is a he and the name is not gender specific so it fits.
