  1. Morgan wanted his mom and nothing less was going to do than be with you, how sweet he loves his mommy and I hope you recover quickly so you an get back to normal, after all Morgan has to have his way.
  2. I wouldn't worry about it, I chose not to have my grey banded as some have had problems with them irritating their leg or even getting it caught on something and causing harm so I chose not to band. I do have the band and the certificate, I doubt there will ever be a problem unless you want to take the bird out of the country, birds were banded years ago to prove they were not wild caught.
  3. She is a lovely looking grey, thanks for sharing the pics with us and hope to hear more about you and Annie.
  4. Do you have birds? Do you have a grey? This forum is for owners of greys and other birds and is a place to come to share information with other like owners. I see you have a website that sells bird cages, I hope that is not the only reason you joined, please tell us more about you.
  5. Well he/she is unwanted no longer as I know you will give it the love and attention it needs, Kilaya is a pretty senegal.
  6. Those ceiling fans do pose a problem with flighted birds but glad to hear your tiel is fine.
  7. Hello Vumes and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have decided to rehome a grey. Since she has only come into your life for one day please give her time to settle in to her new home and unpack her baggage, typically the first few weeks are the honeymoon phase and more of her true personality will emerge in the coming weeks and months so be patient with her in this readjustment period. Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information that will help you in the coming days, weeks and months and don't hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. What is her name? Pictures would be nice if you have some you would share with us.
  8. Harrisons pellets are the choice of a lot of vets but if she won't eat them then try another brand but it shouldn't be the only thing she gets. Lots of vegetables are good but you should include some nuts, seeds, grains, legumes and some protein sources. My grey loves rice and any kind of pasta and she loves most beans so try a wide variety of these to see which she will eat. She should have lots of veggies but not to the exclusion of other foods and even though you have had to get her off of so much protein she still needs some.
  9. Happy Hatchday Neo, hope you have a wonderful day filled with love and presents and may you be blessed to have so many many more of them to come as you have only just begun to live.
  10. I hope so too Ray for they are lovely birds but our eggs are pheasants, they are in an enclosure that larger varmits such as a coon cannot get into but its hard to keep a snake out for they can squeeze into a small opening as can rats, we already have babies running around.
  11. We have eggs too and missing one, we think it was either a black snake or a rat that got it, my bet is on a black snake as they are common here in Virginia, better to have a black snake than a copperhead or rattler any day.
  12. Eva is a lovely little grey and it is so precious that she is responding to you so well, she is not wasting any time in starting a conversation with you, I see nothing but good things for you and Eva.
  13. Mojo is adorable from the picture you so kindly shared with us and so precious of him to fall asleep on you, enjoy these moments for they are likely fleeting ones as they leave the baby stage and get more independent. They do seem ro grow so fast so be sure to visit as often as you can so you don't miss those moments with him.
  14. Happy belated Hatchday Biscotti and that is typical to be more interested in the box and toy than the food inside, hope you let him have a french fry and I hope he has many, many more celebrations to come.
  15. From your picture of Shelby in your signature line he looks a whole lot like my Gypsy who I am pretty sure is a female.
  16. A take off on Sara Lee, Nobody doesn't like amazons. Or a take off on Charmin, Please don't squeeze the amazon.
  17. Thanks so much Dan for sharing those vids with us, like Ray I loved watching them fly from behind as you can see their pretty red tails, how gorgeous to watch a flock of them in the wild doing what parrots do.
  18. Maybe they could take turns being on the top and bottom.
  19. So glad to hear you rescued this grey from his previous home as no bird should have to live that way but you have only had him for 4 weeks and it may take much longer, months or maybe even a year as he is an adult bird who is set in his ways and has baggage he may not have unpacked yet. He may have never been taught to step up so it will take some time but you need to gain his trust for now then work on teaching step up later. Please discontinue feeding mushrooms as they are toxic to birds and concentrate on more of the dark green vegetables and dark yellow and give less fruit, grapes are mostly sugar and water thus have very little nutrition in them. You can also give some nuts, grains, legumes and pellets, they can also have a little meat, preferably chicken, fish or other lean meats, very little red meat and an occasional egg. Be sure to look around the bird food room for lots of ideas of foods to offer and what to stay away from like no onions, chocolate and so forth. As far as getting him out of the cage just open his door and let him come out on his own, yes being flighted he will fly away from you but he needs some time out every day, maybe you can get him back in later by offering him something he really likes to eat, place it in his cage and see if it entices him to go back in to get it or wait until after dark and then you will be more able to catch him to put him back. It doesn't sound to me like he is traumatised but he is still adjusting to his new home.
  20. You do not need to explain why you have been absent as we all have been at one time or another as life has a way of interfering with our best laid plans but your father comes first and if you have no time for us then so be it. I am sorry to hear your dad is ill but we do what we have to and you are a good daughter to take such good care of him as it sounds like he needs you right now. Give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery and "gotta go see dad".
  21. As long as each of the cages is big enough for each grey to be able to flap their wings and not touch the sides then I don't see why it wouldn't work especially if space is a problem. They should have a tray in between so the one on top cannot dump on the one in the bottom cage.
  22. Sometimes its just not possible to let the grey pick you as in your case I only had one available to me but its not a real problem, it may be nice to be picked by your bird but it is certainly not neccesary. You can still form a great bond with your grey even if the bird seems at first to not like you, you have to earn a grey's trust to bond with it to begin with so don't worry about it if yours doesn't just take to you right off. I have a great bond with my grey and you can have a great one with whichever species you choose, just love it, take care of it and treat it with the respect it deserves and you will have a wonderful companion for a very long time.
  23. I agree with the others, the spacing is much too big and you have to be careful of what kind of metal you are using as some is not safe for our birds since they may chew on it.
  24. You may just have to wait until he molts, this is why they should be cleaned off immediately after feeding so it doesn't harden for then it is like glue.
  25. I agree Ray and my tiel is a female because she still has her pearls and I have had her over a year so she has molted at least once besides she doesn't whistle.
