  1. Did she see you put the treats inside the toy? Sometimes they need a little push for the first time then they know it holds something good but I like the toy and bet you didn't spend much money on it either, thanks for sharing it with us.
  2. That would last about 2 seconds if that long, I agree with Dave that it will have to be welded back or a new cage will have to be bought.
  3. It is very iffy if another grey even a male will get along with your current bird, they are all individuals and usually unless they are raised together they do not get along but maybe tolerate each other. I think if you want another bird it could be any of the species of parrots if you are looking for companionship.
  4. I doubt there was any left for the rest of the family after Nilah got thru with it, she kind of blends in with the pineapple too in those shots, thanks for sharing them with us.
  5. Nilah is very photogenic so yes you should share more of her, she is a pretty girl and thanks for sharing these with us.
  6. This site has that bucket Penny is talking about and is where I got mine: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5059+5648+16426&pcatid=16426
  7. Maybe she needs to take some lessons from Dayo as he loves to turn the faucet on and off for Dan and Kim but until then Mommy and kids will have to indulge her and you know you love it, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  8. What a beautiful quaker and if I was ever to get one it would have to be a blue one, Blueberry certainly lives up to her name and I know she is a welcome addition to your flock, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  9. I have seen Josey do pretty much the same thing, freak out over a feather but you can laugh about it after its over with, until the next time.
  10. If it works then stay with it, if you are lucky enough to have a room where they can spend the night undisturbed then go for it for they do need their sleep and it sounds like her first experience was a good one so no harm done.
  11. You answered your own question on that one, just like human children if you give into their demands then they will continue bad behavior.
  12. My birds are quiet until I uncover them, my hubby is the first one to get up in the mornings and he leaves them alone and they stay quiet, sometimes on the weekend when I sleep in a little longer he will uncover them for me but they never scream in the mornings, they are just waiting for their food.
  13. Don't be such a worry wart, you are not the first by a long shot to get a grey that came from deplorable conditions and had less than satisfactory background but from what you have told us she is a sweetheart and is with someone who seems to know what she is doing so leave that all in the past and go forth from this moment. I assume you have had her at the vet for a wellness check and if everything checks out fine then all is fine and at two years of age she is still a baby yet so enjoy your grey and quit worrying about what was.
  14. Hmmm, sounds like a good read, maybe you can tell us what you think of it after you have read it from cover to cover.
  15. I answered your question in the thread you started about that particular subject.
  16. I too am of the opinion that since you are young you have plenty of time to have parrots in your life for like I stated in another post we have seen so many owners give their greys up when a new baby comes especially when its the first baby because they realize they can't handle both, you don't really know what you are getting into until you become a parent and since you can wait I highly recommend you put this off a few years. To answer your last question yes you can take your parrot on road trips as I do that myself with my grey, she goes with me when I go to visit my son who lives out of state, it is about a 4 hour drive and she rides very well, she sits on her perch in her travel cage and chats, plays with her bell and enjoys the time spent traveling. She stays in that travel cage for the time we are there with some time out of the cage and she loves being with me, she also comes with me to work occasionally to get a little more one on one time with me.
  17. Dan that was a close call and Dayo must have had an angel watching out over him as he was so lucky he didn't get crushed. I guess the people who installed the wine rack never imagined a bird would be swinging from it. Poor Dayo has lost his best perch for the time being but I would think that in time he will make amends with it and happy times will ensue again though he may never view it in the same light as he used to. Thanks for the reminder to check those hanging things our fids play on to make sure they are anchored correctly.
  18. Hello Trinkapuppy and welcome to our family, you have some great looking fids and we enjoy reading novels especially when they are about birds, our favorite subject. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your lovely flock.
  19. Please feed this hungry baby for the screams are telling you its not full yet, Dave is a breeder of greys so he knows what he is talking about or take this bird back to the breeder and let them finish the handfeeding process.
  20. Respiratory problems are a real concern for greys, I would give the vet another call or find another one for it should not be treated lightly in my opinion, of course no one here is a vet but I know that tail pumping when breathing is not good at all. Birds especially greys have very sensitive respiratory systems so you have a reason to be concerned, keep us informed.
  21. Well lets just put it this way, we have seen many people and even some members here give up their greys after they have a child, they don't realize how much time it takes to take care of human children, if you have never had children then you have no idea of what you are getting into until it happens, think long and hard about this before you make a decision.
  22. Just be grateful that its only the cough he is imitating, there are other bodily sounds that are worse believe me!
  23. They are so adorable at this age but the interaction with the macaw is precious, thanks for sharing and I know the wait is killing you but just hang in there as Cody will be home soon.
  24. He is a cute little fella but I have always thought senegal's eyes are a little intimidating, they always look like they are ready to come after me but then they might just be the way they look and all is normal. Sanggay that cage looks like to me it is rusting, is it the one he came in? If so you might want to get him a new one.
