  1. Companions can take many forms but all offer unconditional love, I am so sorry for your loss and not many people can say they had an armadillo for a companion.
  2. One thing I want to point out is not to stress out over the plucking, they pick up on our emotions so try to stay calm about it, many here have plucked birds and if the bird is otherwise happy and healthy then its not the end of the world.
  3. It could have been worse Dave.
  4. Hello Izzy and welcome to our family. Thanks so much for giving Toby a new forever home and please do read thru as many of the threads as possible for you will find lots of useful information that will come in handy in the coming weeks and months. He looks very handsome and time and lots of patience will reward you as he settles into his new home.
  5. This is what I think, poppycock!!
  6. I don't consider Dave's response to be any kind of bullying, he can be blunt in his posts but that is just the way he is. Like some of the others I tone down my true feelings of what I would like to say sometimes because some people are easily offended, that seems to be a real disease these days. He gives out excellent advice and if you choose to use it then fine but I can attest to the fact that Dave is passionate about greys and has much experience with the raising and caring for both breeder and companion greys. As for the subject of a certain banned member, most of you have no idea of what admin and the mods had to contend with behind the scene but that is over and done with so let it be.
  7. So, did you go this past Monday? If so then I want to see the haul, inquiring minds want to know and see.
  8. Yes, there is no escaping hormonal behavior when you are dealing with parrots though some display it more so than others, my almost 9 year old female is showing some signs of that particular behavior but its mild compared to what some are dealing with, depends on the individual bird for they all have their own little personalities. I would say that my Josey is just starting into her maturity which means she is old enough to be a breeder but she will always be my baby.
  9. If you want to know the true answer then you need to have a dna test which will require either a drop of blood or a few feathers, sex can be determined from them but visual sexing is highly inaccurate. Either method does not have to "hurt".
  10. Maybe he just needs more time to get himself "presentable" as some men take longer to get ready.
  11. I am so sorry for your loss but do keep an open mind for one day there may be another opportunity to open your heart to one in need of a good home.
  12. Grey Bird looks adorable and I predict good things to come to you and him in the near future, keep us informed.
  13. I am so sorry Nancy and how ironic it was exactly a year to the day you lost Zoey, they do take a piece of our hearts when they leave.
  14. So sorry to hear of the loss but it probably was of a broken heart, doesn't matter how big or small they are for they capture our hearts but they both are together now.
  15. One of these days I am going to make it up there to that store, I have heard they have a huge selection of everything bird related, yep one day I will go. Looking forward to seeing what all you come home with.
  16. Yes that is exactly how you do it, I have done it with phone books too.
  17. Hello Jessica and welcome to our family.
  18. I love watching the eagle cam almost as much as watching hummingbird ones.
  19. Long time, no see but let us know how he is up to, what is his name? Pictures would be more than welcome.
  20. Hello Maddy and welcome to our family. You came to the right place looking for advice.
