  1. Don't be silly, we never tire of seeing pics of our beloved greys and Buddy is no exception, he is almost a camera ham and I love the one as your avatar with that side tilt of the head, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  2. That is usually one of the best ways to get them to try something is to let them see you eat it because usually when they see us eating something they want it too, kind of like monkey see monkey do.
  3. Josey eats off a spoon even now as she is going on 6 years old, its the best way to administer the red palm oil as I mix it into some oatmeal, I will continue to offer it to her no matter how old she gets as long as she will eat it.
  4. Sometimes we have to act like children and that is fine as he is enjoying hide and seek, good bonding time too I might add, I like to hear these stories of how some interact with their beloved fid, thanks for sharing your story with us.
  5. A little cheese especially cheddar is good for them but not every day, give a couple of times a week and I only give a couple of slivers of the already shredded that comes in a pack, Josey loves cheese but only a little. Otherwise your routine sounds good, you are spending quality time bonding with him and its good to hear stories like this, enjoy DJ.
  6. It should help and him cooperating while getting the showers will go a long way in helping those pin feathers from being so irritating, thanks for sharing the pics of Buddy.
  7. Thats an excellent idea Janet, Sassy you should look thru the homemade toys room for lots of ideas and suggestions for making toys from common items found in most households so they cost very little and it will use up some of that time you have until your baby comes home.
  8. Thats just about the best looking Chicken I have seen, love his name and he is a handsome fella if I do say so, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  9. It may seem like slow progress but you take it in small steps and you are getting there, it does take time and I think it will continue to diminish with the changes you have taken to make his life easier, kudos for finding a way to get him to cut back on the screaming and thanks so much for updating us on your progress. Bless his little pea picking heart.
  10. I too do not like seeing chain hanging from the foot of a bird not to mention allowing her free flight, so many things could happen that would not end well but I will say that Kiki is abeautiful Tag. This is my opinion.
  11. Hello Mego and welcome to our family, you have an adorable baby grey there in those pictures you so kindly shared with us in your intro post. Since this is your first grey I would do as much research as possible for you are right, you can never learn too much and I have found that the more I learn the more I find I need to know about these awesome creatures. You can read thru the many threads here for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We have an other birds room where you may share some pictures of your other birds if you like.
  12. Haldan, I see you have made several posts so why not introduce yourself in the welcome room so we can get to know you better.
  13. I think your fids show you every day what their choice is Ray. Maybe Penny will make this a sticky for us.
  14. Actually I had a yellow lab by that name, sadly she passed away a few months ago.
  15. I think Maui is thinking its ok to talk about you if she whispers it so you can't understand what she says, clever girl.
  16. She might as she is still very young but she probably needs to build her muscle mass up for being heavy bodied birds it takes a lot to keep them airborne, maybe when she has a full set of flight feathers she might indeed fly. You could help by holding her on your arm and by raising and lowering your arm she will flap, we all know you have to use those muscles to be fit. She may never fly as well as one allowed full flight all their life but she can get by.
  17. Slater is having fun with that toy swinging away free as a bird, opps he is a bird, what a happy little camper he is.
  18. Poor Willow but I know the danger of them jumping off and not being able to fly, thankfully Josey never split her keel but at least she does not drop like a rock anymore and sort of flutters to the floor. Most breeders who do clip probably do so long before the bird learns proper flight and landings.
  19. I mulled over a lot of names but I kept coming back to Josey as in The Outlaw Josey Wales, I love Clint Eastwood movies especially the westerns and I decided that the name had to be that, you don't hear a lot of birds or even people named Josey so thats what I went with. That was to make up for naming my sun conure Sunny, now how original is that, I bet there are more suns named that than any other single name.
  20. Usually the seed catchers come with the cage, since you picked up a used cage they may have done away with them as some people don't like to use them, you might try contacting the manufacturer and see if you can get some replacement ones otherwise you are out of luck as there are many styles and sizes of cages it would be hard to find some to fit it.
  21. Greys sure do love those bells and that is one of those heavy duty ones like my Josey has and she loves to do the exact same thing, it helps to relieve some frustration and they love the noise it makes, no grey should be without one, thanks Margurite for sharing that with us.
  22. Thats it, no its not 100% but the other additives are not harmful, probably found it in the pharmacy section of Walmart.
  23. Congrats on bringing Buddy home and he does sound like he is well socialized, glad to hear he is adjusting well, travels easily and has taken a shine to your hubby, the one who was hesitant about getting him, isn't that the way it always is. Now you will have to gradually get him on a more nutritious diet. I look forward to seeing some pictures when you get around to sharing some with us.
  24. All I saw in the food bowls was sunflower seeds, what a horrible diet for them and no water, I can't imagine they would survive for long with no water, those poor amazons caged together in small cages, it makes my heart break to see them this way, how can people treat these animals this way and sleep at night. Those greys in that fourth pic down from the top look like young ones for their eyes look dark still, thanks for sharing those pics with us but it makes me angry to think of their mistreatment.
