She needs time but leave the door open and eventually she will come out, be sure to engage in some interesting activity in the same room as her cage and she will get curious enough to venture out and see what is going on but do not rush her, let her go at her own pace and she will surprise you one day. Grey time is very slow so if progress seems to take forever then you are doing it correctly. Remember patience is a virtue.

It seems that most older people have some kind of back problems so I sympathize for you and hope it gets better soon. Dorian is showing you much empathy when he keeps quiet while you take a nap, what a sweetheart he is.

It was just meant to be for you to have Grey Bird and its wonderful when it all works out, thanks for sharing that story with us.

When one door closes another one opens, it just wasn't meant to be for you and Buddy but here is hoping it all works out you get a baby from the breeder, my advice is have them keep the baby until it is fully weaned.

There has been a change in the household and he knows it hence he is quieter but once things settle down I am sure he will be back to chattering away as usual. I hope your new puppy is going to be ok.

I really commend you for doing your homework and asking questions before you make that final decision to add one of these magnificent creatures to your family and whether you go with a baby or a rehome I am sure you will do just fine. Just for the record my grey was bonded to me and didn't really want my hubby to have anything to do with her but in the last couple of years she has changed to being a daddy's girl, he can do things with her I can only sit by and watch but I am glad they get along so well though he doesn't always appreciate the special attention she demands of him, she is going on 10 years old.

Issac is looking great and I have my fingers crossed that they continue to improve, he is a lucky boy to have someone completely devoted to him.

You must be a very patient person if you want to win your grey's trust and it must be earned so take your time and be patient as this could take months or even years for it to happen. Try talking to him in a soothing voice and don't come close enough to the cage that he growls, you want him to associate pleasant experiences with your presence, don't try to force him to accept you before he is ready. This will be a long slow process but so worth it when it happens.

I so wanted to reach in and give him a scratch when he lowered his head and said "wanna scratch", he is adorable.

You are doing the right thing to get Ollie in to see the vet so don't panic as it could just be something he ate, hope you find out it is nothing serious Nancy but keep us posted with what you find out.

I second Dave's suggestion of doing a vet visit as it could be a lot of reasons for this to happen. If its possible try to take a picture or two and post so we can see exactly what you are talking about. I would also recommend that you don't react to the plucking/barbering, just ignore it and maybe try to divert his attention to something else.

That must be so much fun to watch, you must get a video of it and no my grey does not do that.

They pick up and repeat those words and phrases they enjoy so its hard to tell what they will end up saying, sometimes its something they only heard once.

I have never had a problem putting my birds to bed, they go willingly, they know better than messing with mama.

Sadly this will forever be a part of her personality as she has been thru a lot before she ever came into your life but you have handled it like a champ and there is much to be admired for the progress you have made with her. You two are truly blessed to have found one another.
