  1. I love these kind of bat problems, I occasionally see Josey hanging in the same way, we love our bat birds.
  2. This got me to thinking how a grey could get you into some fine trouble if he or she figures out how to order stuff just by asking for it, the possibilities are endless which makes me think its something I can do without.
  3. That was very well said and yes we usually don't think about the various animals who also did their part to help the cause, I for one am forever grateful to those who laid down their lives so we can have the freedoms we enjoy. Please think about that while you enjoy your cookouts and this 3 day weekend that many sacrifices were made, never forget.
  4. I trust both my birds to be on my shoulder, my conure is on my shoulder any time she is out of her cage, the only danger she presents is tearing up my shirts which look like rats have been gnawing on them. Josey sits on my shoulder from time to time for she has shown that she can be trusted there. You have to know your birds well.
  5. I got Josey a year or two after I got my first parrot, my sun conure and I wanted a bigger bird. I did some research and decided to get a grey as they are quieter than conures and probably would talk, I have never looked back even though she has decided that she likes my hubby more than me.
  6. I'd like to think I could pick Josey out of a bunch of greys, probably by observing them for a few minutes as I could recognize her eye and facial expressions, she also has a red feather on her neck that came in recently.
  7. I used to clip my sun conure in her first year or two with me but then I stopped. Josey was clipped before I brought her home and then never clipped again, she had some kind of problem with removing some of her flights on one wing for a couple of years but now she is fully feathered. Both my birds fly but not expertly and that is due to having them clipped early on but my expert flyer was the little cockatiel I lost early this year, she would circle a room in no time flat. I choose to leave my birds flighted as they were meant to fly.

    The Return

Neither of my birds fight going back into their cage and neither is cage aggressive, I can put my hand inside their cage at any time with no problem.
  9. I just wanted to wish our admin a very Happy Birthday today, I think you all will agree she does an awesome job here at greyforums mostly by herself with the help of the mods and wow has it really been 10 years, yes it has so hopefully she will reign for many many more years. Lets all let her know how much she is appreciated here from her flock.
  10. Bratbirds, you did not have polio as a child. I have been married for nearly 50 years I can swim like a fish I have over 60 chickens
  11. Josey loves to play fight with her heavy duty bell so a little ding on her face from time to time just tells me she is enjoying herself, don't sweat the small stuff.
  12. This is the travel cage I have: http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=03b1df0f344d1b97acf8af526837f602 It comes in 2 sizes and the larger one is sufficient for a grey for a few days.
  13. So glad to hear Olive is doing so much better, good medicine and a little faith go a long way, I predict she will make a complete recovery.
  14. Greys are very emphatic to our feelings and know when we don't feel well, it doesn't surprise me that Brutus was watching over Dave.
  15. No one can replace Dave and I mean that in a nice way but I think you will do a very good job with the health room plus we have all of Dave's stickies to refer to.
  16. Hello Bob and welcome to our family. There are clings you can put on your windows, some that they see easier than we can that will help with flying into them, google it.
  17. I love to watch robins in the grass looking for worms and there was a cute video I saw recently of a man who had a young robin and was digging up worms for it, even pointing them out for the baby to catch and eat, so endearing.
  18. Welcome back and yes life happens but we are glad you returned to the flock as you have been missed. I too recently lost a bird, not a conure but a tiel and I miss her every day. My sun conure is sitting on 2 eggs at the moment.
  19. Its been going on now for a while, usually the first time I try to access the website I get that database error then I try again and can log in, screwy stuff.
  20. As the others have already said, leave the egg for she will only want to replace it and when she tires of it in a couple of weeks take it away, that's the advice I received from our late Dave when my sun conure laid eggs.
  21. I would expect no less of HRH Inara, you must not keep her waiting!
  22. Just want to mention that the cuddling may or may not continue as Django matures so enjoy it, maybe he will be one of those who will always love it.
  23. I haven't met any greys who weren't adorable, must be a grey trait.
  24. What an adorable grey, love that look.
  25. Yay, Sukei is home safe and sound but what a journey it was, he looks very handsome.
