1. Talon was clipped when we got her at 8 1/2 weeks. She can fly, and learned how, as soon as her wings grew enough to try. I think it is, and always will be instinctive of them to try to fly.
2. Splint. That's great. Like Judy said, you are lucky, cause Talon hates to get wet also. Keep it up!!:woohoo:
3. Okay, everyone, I posted these 2 pictures so you can see for yourself just how much dander and feathers are floating around your house. These are pictures of the foam filter from one air cleaner that is under Talon's play cage downstairs. (I have 3 air cleaners downstairs, and 3 upstairs) She spends very little time in this cage, but will spend a few hours each day on the top or the outside playing. These are foam type filters that you rinse out each week. So, CD, if you haven't bought one yet, GO DO IT!! :silly:
4. That's great news!! I'm so happy. Whatch out, she'll be telling you what to do next!! :laugh: :woohoo:
5. Hey, the reason why, is because you recommended that book. I bought it and just finished reading it!! :lol: It's great, I learned quite a bit from that book. THANK-YOU JUDY! {Love-000200DB}
6. Our grey is a girl, but we didn't know her gender for the first year and a half. She definitely loves my husband. He spends very little time with her, only lunch and sometimes after dinner because he's not home much. But she seems to like all of us for different reasons. (we have 4 boys and 2 girls in our family) She just seems to get very excited around him.
7. That is so cute!!! {Nature-00020095}
8. That first one is so cute! A rockin out birdie!!{Feel-good-000200A2} I've seen the Einstein one many times, and Talon enjoys watching it also. Maybe she'll learn something........:silly:
9. Wow! I've never heard of clipping one side only. I would make sure both sides are done, and done correctly. Then let them grow out so he can learn to fly for his own safety before clipping again. :dry:
10. A quote from Bobbi Brinker's Book: FOR THE LOVE OF GREYS The trembling movement of a resting Grey's breast feathers is normal. When the breast feathers are relaxed and slightly fluffed, these very light small feathers may tremble slightly in response to the heart beat and respiration. So Judy and others are correct. It is normal and has nothing to do with stress.
11. Judy, Josey is talking now??? That's great!!{Feel-good-000200BB}

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/06/17 23:56
12. {Nature-0002009C} I want to see that!!
13. Becca, Those are very meaningful lyrics. How beautiful, and how true. I'm sorry to hear about your accident and all you've been through so far, and still have to endure. I'm sure it's difficult. But I am a firm believer that every thing happens for a reason. You may not know what that reason is yet, but one day you will. :dry:
14. Well for me today, at this very moment in my life, there are a few that are very special to me, but CD has them listed already. Today on Fathers Day, my very favorite is: Thank You For Loving Me by Bon Jovi. {Love-00020111}
15. Nice Job! Melissa!!!{Feel-good-000200A2}
16. These were cute! :silly:
17. Talon

nite time

Talon has a sleep cage as well. We do cover her at nite as she sleeps in my son's room and he is on the computer until the wee hours of the am.
18. Heather, He is adorable! Thank you for sharing those pictures with us. May he grow up to love african greys!! {Characters-000200D2}
19. Lidia, I am in total agreement with you. Talon was clipped when we first got her, and we had her clipped once since we had her. We've had her for almost 2 years. Her wings have grown out,and she loves to fly, and will only do so, when the need arises. She doesn't fly just for the fun of it to often. She will fly to find us, or if she gets startled. We, too are very careful not to put her in a situation where she could get into trouble or get out. I think it has made her a much happier bird. But I also believe, you don't acquire a dog and then tie them up all day as well,or a horse and put them in a very small paddock with no grass, or a cat and never let them outside. But that's just my point of view for what it's worth. Everyone has their own reasons for doing what's best for them.
20. These are great photo's! Keep em coming!!:woohoo:
21. OH! This is heartbreaking. Those poor birds.........:ohmy:
