  1. Thank you everyone. My son's friend who is neighbors with this guy was working late today, so they'll try to speak with him within the next few days. We have an extra cage here, so that's good. My son will be taking him into his room for quarantine precautions if we're able to get him to relinquish him.
  2. Several years ago, my son brought to my attention a neglected grey living nearby. The owners keep it in a rusted cage outside with very little protection from the elements. Apparently they only feed him seeds. My son mentioned that there are rat feces all around the cage, and that the owners never pay any attention to it. Unfortunately they weren't willing to part ways with him. Fast forward to yesterday. My son tearfully brought up the ongoing sad living conditions of this neglected grey. Apparently the owner now has early onset dementia, and often forgets to feed the poor thing. The owner's neighbor is a friend of my son's., and both he and my son plan to go over there within the next few days to see if he'd relinquish the grey to my son. His plan is to rehabilitate him and then find him a loving home. I'll keep you posted if we get him.
  3. But I can give you the short version of the list, which includes 3 of my kids' pets: Maalik(of course!) CAG, Shaylor-miligold macaw, Dexter-scarlet macaw, Teak-lesser Jardines, Chloe-Meyers, Skittles-pineapple GCC, Walter-BHC, Niko and Gizo-duskie conures, Harley- Panama amazon, Ziggy-male eclectus, Leyna, Ella and Gunnar-german shepherds, Tilly-domestic cat, and my kids' 3 guinea pigs. Does my son's tarantula also count?
  4. I've always wanted a Bengal cat! They are incredibly smart, drop dead gorgeous, and such very active cats!
  5. We have a total of 19 birds and pets, so sadly my portion of this thread would turn out extremely long!
  6. Alfie's adorbs! Although he looks like he's throwing in some grey shade in that one second up from the bottom!
  7. Jayd, I lost my closest, most dearest friend to MS at the tender young age of 40. Her battle began as a teen, although none of us knew what was going on with her at the time. Through it all, she always kept her sense of humor, and was first to reach out to others in need. I learned so much about life through her, especially the precious value of life itself. Our world has been made a better place because of you and all that you have accomplished. Thank you for everything, and for being you!
  8. Oh my goodness, this makes me so very sad. I had no idea, Jay, as I'm only an intermittent participant on this board. Sending you warmth and strength. May you be surrounded by love always.
  9. Amazons love to sing! Our panama amazon is always singing along with us, operatic style!
  10. Your story is so awesome! I commend you for all you have done for these precious babies over the years! Wish there were more people out there like you!
  11. My goodness! What beautiful birds! If this is 'some', then how many birds have shared your home with you over the years? I especially love how the CAG loves visiting with the other birds.
  12. Unfortunately 2 of my fids have taken up occasionally saying the first 2 letters of the F-bomb. Thank goodness they don't say all 4 letters, but they do pronounce those 2 letters exactly like my sons would.
  13. Thank you! He's really such a sweetie pie. Just had to get him past the terrible twos first! He'll be 5 in July.
  14. Here's a pic of my little cuddle bug! He loves his scritches!
  15. Welcome to the forum! Smokey is adorable! You're going to have so much fun learning about each other. I have 11 birds, but my CAG, Maalik, is very, very special! Enjoy him, and keep those pictures coming! 🙂
  16. It's been an absolute nightmare all around. Very stressful to say the least. I'm constantly thinking about them now whenever my birds create a chorus of songs, something I don't really wish to do. My poor Dexter is getting the short end of the stick. He loves being out in the aviary, and will initially sound off with excitement. After 15 minutes I must bring him inside, unless I'm able to help him settle down.
  17. They're pretty unreasonable, and we've had our share of battles over what I would say has been minimal loud outbursts. All Dexter had to do was belt out a macaw call a couple times in a row, and there she was, hanging her head over our fence line, asking me to bring him inside. It got to the point where I was beginning to have concerns that she'd file a formal noise complaint. Now I only bring him outside when I'm absolutely certain she's not home, but that's not easy to ascertain. In order to protect him, I actually made an appointment with my son's former therapist requesting a letter that designated Dexter as his ES pet, and she did! So...if anyone were to complain, he now has letter that designates his presence in our home as being medically prescribed. I haven't actually showed them the letter, but did let them know that he's an ES bird, medically prescribed for our son, and that his emotional well being comes first and foremost. Haven't received any more e-mails from them, or heads popping up over the fence line ever since. She's a teacher, so I know that she'll soon be home every day, which will make things more complicated. She doesn't have any issues with my other birds being out there; just Dexter. And Dexter loves, loves, loves being out there.
  18. Oh well. Thought I'd give it a try.
  19. Very nice! Alfie and your kitties are going to be in heaven!
  20. Sprains are the worst! Feel better soon!
  21. OMG, thank God your fids are okay! I'm so sorry to hear Sterling Gris plucked after this frightening experience. I, too, believe he'll come around in time. Greys take such a long time to get over things that caused them to become stressed.
