Such an awesome story overall.

Wow! I'm amazed that he could still recognize you after all these years!
-
Welcome aboard! Looking forward to getting to know all about you and your new rescue!
-
Yeah, it looks like a normal molt. In the second picture you're looking at the new feather shaft coming in. I like to pinch those open for them, and they usually love the extra time that I spend preening them.
-
Haha! My bad. My eyes were playing tricks!

I agree that you should look into avian avenue and the FB grey forum. There is a no wing clipping law in the UK, so not quite certain why you need to clip their wings before traveling there.
-
Wow! Are you a photographer by any chance? Those images look extremely well done!

Welcome to the forum! Yes, pictures please!

Wonderful! Would love to see another picture of her looking great again!

I believe they fall off their feed a bit around fledge time.

Thank you all! He was back to being his 'old' self by mid morning. Eating, playing etc. Will be interested if the gram stain grows out anything. For now he'll continue on with the antibiotics.

Made my first vet trip with Fynn yesterday. Was concerned because he was spending most of his time at the bottom of his cage 'resting', and he hadn't really touched his fresh food all day long. He even turned his beak away from banana, which seems to be his favorite food. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with him, but he did prescribe Baytril and sent out a stool sample for a gram stain. He's acting better today, and is spending his time up high again. He still isn't eating as much as he usually does. At least his poop has more signs of his having eaten something.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Could you take her to another vet for a second opinion? The fact that she's no better idicates that her previous treatment plan hasn't worked. Fungus is a bear to get rid of, so if she has a fungal infection, she'll need long term medication. She looks like she's feeling badly. My vote is for a second opinion. Do you have a board certified avian vet in your area? Please let us know how she does.

I struggle with this all the time. My kids will likely take a few, but they also will post on a few forums to see if they can find suitable homes for them. If not, then to the sanctuary they'll likely go.

Sounds like you're doing a great job with her. You can always test her out by switching back to 3 feedings per day. Or give her the 60 cc's in the morning and evening with a small comfort feeding mid day. Are you beginning to offer her some soft foods for her to pick at? I believe 8 weeks is around the time that she should be introduced to solids.

Baby greys at that age are clumsy at best, and feel safer lying down to sleep. You'll likely see that behavior switch over within the next 2-3 weeks. If she's eating great, gaining weight and otherwise acting fine, she should be good to go.

I love our Panama amazon! While I can't actually hold him unless he's flown himself into a jam (I'm not the chosen one), I do have a sweet relationship with him. We chat back and forth and I give him treats to coax him back into his cage at night. I can rub his head through the bars without getting nailed. He has an evil laugh, loves to 'roll his R's, sing along to music and terrorize our CAG, Maalik! Harley's very timid, but a true delight! Our home is a better place because of his presence in it.

That's fantastic news! It looks like he's been leaving his feathers alone, too!

So thrilled to see you back and posting again! We missed you!

We have coyote woes here, too. All their natural habitat has been over-developed, so now they're scouring the neighborhoods, hoping to find a sustainable food source. It very sad, actually.

Haven't seen either him or his wife here for awhile. Am concerned.
