  1. It's been an ongoing issue ever since the template was switched back after the holidays.
  2. Welcome Chvonne! Thank you for taking in a beautiful grey in need. It's great that you are taking her in to be evaluated. Hopefully you will receive some answers from your avian vet. If a bird has been a chronic plucker, it's one of those awful habits that's extremely difficult to break. Oftentimes the follicles become so badly damaged that they won't be able to regrow its feathers. There are bird collars that some have used that help. Changing her diet to one filled with fresh fruit and veggies, adding organic red palm oil to the food and giving regular warm water baths will also help. Adding yams or sweet potatoes to her diet will provide her with much needed vitamin A, something greys really need. Please let us know how your vet appt goes! Oh, and pictures of your brand new baby please! 🙂
  3. Awwww. So happy for you that things are working out so nicely!
  4. Let him be your guide as to what he wants/doesn't want. Birds don't feel emotions as we do, so anger isn't what's going on. If a bird feels uncomfortable or threatened, they will show its displeasure or discomfort. I don't recall how old your bird is, but most of my 13 are going through hormonal stages at the moment. Oh, just read back and see that he's around 2 or 3. Let me tell you that my oldest CAG was an absolute monster during that age bracket. He did grow out of it, but I think it was around a year before harmony again! Hang in there and don't push him. Let him guide you, as it's all about them. LOL!
  5. 2 of my CAGS didn't start saying any words until they were 1 years old. Your grey is still very young. Give him time and he'll be saying words and phrases for you. There are some greys that never talk.
  6. That's great news! Thanks for the update! It certainly takes time, patience and perseverance to redirect certain behaviors and form new ones. Nicely done!
  7. Nicely done! There's definitely benefits when getting another bird while the other is still young.
  8. I actually keep a misting bottle near and ready to go whenever I've introduced my birds to each other. If they get into a serious squabble, I break them up with a fine misting and then remove the perpetrator. Only a small handful of my 13 get along, which sucks, because I have to do a rotation of their 'out of cage' times. If they all got along, they would be out of their cages a lot more. For now it adds up to be about 5-6 hours per day.
  9. So happy to hear she's getting better!
  10. Still can't change out my profile photo. It keeps throwing me out after I hit the 'continue' button.
  11. She has your voice down to a T! Inflection and all!
  12. This is great news! Praying that she'll continue to show signs of getting better every day.
  13. Yeah, you really want to avoid all caffeinated items and go with blends specifically created for our birds.
  14. I personally haven't heard of it. I use avian teas, of which one is specifically designed to help boost the immune system. Graywood Manor Tea is the name of the company. I put it into my fids' birdie bread and also have a separate bowl for the steeped tea. Some use it in place of their water, but I like to have options. You might want to check out all the different blends of teas they've created specifically for our birds.
  15. So glad that you had her checked out, and that they figured out what was wrong with her. Please keep us posted!
  16. Sounds like she's really sick. Please take her to see a vet today. If you wait it could be too late.
  17. So great to see you back! It's been waaaaaay too long!
  18. I'm thinking it could be the haircut, since the timing seems to coincide with that change in his behavior. That, in addition to spring hormones could be contributory to his change. Just my thoughts.
  19. Not completely. Super slow progress, but we'll get there some year! He's become my daughter's bird, which I'm fine with. I can scratch through the cage bars and he'll occasionally fly to me until he realizes who he just landed on! And I can play games with him such as bouncing a whiffle ball for him to fly up and try to catch.
  20. You never did grow into those big feet of yours! I sure do miss these little baby eyes.
  21. Perfect! It's all about them and what they want. My greys love a popcorn piece or two.
  22. Just take things very slowly and let him call the touching shots. I'm confident that he'll come around again.
  23. Welcome back! We've missed your posts. I love her stand BTW.
  24. I've had you and Jay on my mind. How is he faring? Thank you for sharing these adorable pics of Jay and Joe with us.
  25. She hadn't become used to your layout; hence the flight into things. She would have soon figured out the lay of the land. Clipping a flighted bird greatly impacts their psyche. Now, if she needed to safely fly away from your dog or anything that causes her dis-ease she can't.
