  1. Here's another one that we can all relate to:
  2. So many great birdie memes out there. Which ones are your favorites?
  3. That's really funny! My Maalik will immediately put his head way down if he suspects I'm about to put him back in his cage for the night. He can't possibly step up if he's awaiting scritches!
  4. My 4 kids grew up with all kinds of pets around them. It's all about the environment you've created as to whether or not you'll be successful. My birds came later on after my kids were teenagers. But if I'd had birds when they were young, I would have experienced concerns over them possibly getting out through a left open door, and subsequently would have set things up much differently than I have them now.
  5. Greycie Mae! What a little knucklehead! Looks like a cheap toy that you can replicate for her to 'bat' from at home.
  6. I am completely moved and amazed by their incredible long memories! I wish you could have Odie right now, but it sounds like it could be some time very in the very near future. Odie is beautiful, plucked and all!
  7. The only call worse than the ear piercing shriek of our greys is the eclectus alarm call. It's ear drum shattering. It's even louder than the call from my Scarlet macaw, which is saying something.
  8. Our birds will show us what we're supposed to have known all along!
  9. Nope. Peels are evil things attached to their food! All peels are unceremoniously tossed aside.
  10. OMG!!!! He's absolutely adorable! Kudos to you for getting onboard with harness training him so early. Conures are nippy by nature, but not that difficult to read. My duskies are so full of personality, and I can just imagine what your little guy's vivacious personality is like. I think they all speak 'conure'. At least my duskies and pineapple do! Congrats on being owned by another birb!
  11. I don't think that I'd like to save any eggs unless I've first pin holed one end to drain out its contents. 8 of my 13 fids are DNA'ed males, so that certainly helps prevent future egg laying!
  12. All 3 of my greys are great eaters! Their breakfast consists of power greens, snap peas, sweet potatoes, banana, pomegranate arils, a grape, sprouts, my homemade birdie bread that is baked with all the veggies they turn their beaks up at, a drop of organic red palm oil, and my freeze dried blend of veggies. In the evening they get raw soaked nuts, more birdie bread, and a tsp. or two of large billed deluxe avian cuisine that doesn't contain any sunflower seeds or peanuts. They each love to snack on any steamed vegetable that I'm eating, usually broccoli and/or carrots. Most of my other birds are more selective.
  13. Welcome!!! While I've not experienced bird layers-yet-Lol! I've heard people mention replacing them with dummy eggs. I've also heard that eventually they do grow tired of trying to incubate them. While I do realize that 4 weeks is a long time to be sitting on eggs, at some point she will abandon them. Hopefully others who have experienced egg laying will chime in soon.
  14. Once I've figured out all that's involved with international shipping, then most likely yes! I'm still in the process of setting up the shipping parameters for my new business.
  15. I'm super excited to be sharing with you the hatching of my brand new business: Bodacious Birdie Bites!!!! 100% organic raw freeze dried foods for your pampered parrots. Non-GMO, no preservatives and no additives. Ever! This is a great way to help elevate and diversify your birds' diet. Unlike dehydrated products, almost 98% of the food's nutritional value is retained through the freeze drying process. Serve either in it's freeze dried state or rehydrated using your favorite organic juice, almond milk or water. Here is the link to my new website: https://www.bodaciousbirdiebites.com. It's a spankin' new website, so there might possibly be a few processing hiccups along the way. This is my new facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bodaciousbirdiebites. Would be honored to have you 'like' my page! Please take a look and let me know what you think. Also, please let me know if there are any foods you'd love to have freeze dried for future consideration. Thanks for looking! And thanks, Admin, for allowing me to launch my new business here on Grey Forums! 🙂
  16. When my greys were super young, they spent a lot of time digging. They outgrew it over time.
  17. I was wondering the same thing myself.
  18. Wow! I wonder how they came up with this number.
  19. We have many flocks of parrots throughout San Diego county. It's such a joy to watch them fly, interact with each other and chatter away. I've often wondered how many of them used to be people's pets and are now a part of these amazing flocks. The weather here is kind to them, too, which is likely why we have so many flocks.

    Foraging

All I can say is, 'ew' to lima beans. Personally I find them absolutely disgusting. Whenever my folks served them for dinner while growing up, I'd have to sit at the table until I finished them. Gag city! Eventually I learned to sneak them into my napkin, tuck them inside my clothes and then take them upstairs to flush down the toilet. Did the same thing with peas. Must be a texture thing. To this day my fids have never tasted a lima bean. LOL!
  21. These are great pics, Ray! Corky is one very spoiled little lady!
  22. Their diets are always a work in progress. We can never emulate what they consume in the wild, but we can certainly strive to learn more about their overall nutritional needs.
