Hi jjaura! Is today the first you've noticed the liquidy-bubbly droppings? If so, then see how things look tomorrow. Birds with infections can have bubbly poop, so if it continues, you might want to take in a stool sample for a gram stain. Did you change anything in his diet by any chance?

Sweet Ollie. He's such a handsome dude that no wonder he doesn't want to wear such an ugly cone of shame.
-
Smart little cookie! Absolutely introduce her to lots of things! Our Fynn is 6 months old and he's been introduced to a ton of stuff. The only thing so far that he's afraid of is me, believe it or not. He's fine with everyone else, except for me. But we're working on it. He adores the other young peeps in the household, so he gets tons of loving.

This is an amazing story. Would like to know more about all the steps you had to take in order to bring Sukei home.
-
Oh no, poor sweet thing. I just want to go over there and cuddle the heck out of him. Hope he heals quickly and that he's back to being his old self very soon.
-
I agree. 2-3 years of age is a bratty age. Hang in there. He will become better with age! Regurgitation is a sign of affection, too.

Hello Taha, It's likely due in part to your increasing time away from him. They are very much into routine, and it sounds like your routine with him has understandably changed. I'm not an expert in biting, other than that I try to avoid doing anything that could elicit a bite. If my birds do bite me, I yelp, give them the stink eye, and say 'no biting'. I then put them on a perch and ignore them for a bit. Is he bonding more to someone else in your household now that you aren't around as much? Also, how old is he now? Could he be going through a hormonal stage?

Recall training was the first thing I worked on.

Tali, that's so cute!

Only 2 of my 13 parrots don't have leg bands. And none of them mess with them. I like the idea of having a phone number placed on their bands. Got an estimate a while back, but it was way too expensive to cover all my fids.
-
How's he doing today?
-
The ones that come with the cage are deep. Regardless, birds are messy. They wipe their beaks on things, shake their heads while having a full beak, and drop stuff deemed to be un-tasty to them. Some use plexiglass sheets to protect walls. I use furniture protecting plastic mats underneath my cages as well as blank newsprint sheets in the messiest areas

Red feathers give her more character! Plus a great way to ID her if ever needed

Perfect! How exciting!
-
Oh my goodness, she's stunning! Love her!

This is such great news! When I read they were discussing euthanizing him, I just couldn't believe that.

Yes, it's a great one! Lots of room for your new baby to roam, swing and play in. That's a really great price, too!

Hi Jojo1! First of all, welcome! And thank you for reaching out to adopt this deserving grey! There are a lot of great cages on the market. But first I'd find out if she has a tendency to fall off her perch with her seizure activity, as that would determine how tall of a cage I'd get. Or, you could get a tall cage and place her perches lower until you figure out how things go for her. I have 2 prevue Hendrix cages; one for my CAG, and one for my macaw. It's a tall cage: https://prevuepet.com/product/642/empire-large-bird-cage-3157 but it works great for all their hanging toys. My CAGs love to swing and dangle from their toys. A fresh diet will be vital, but may take your new baby awhile to transition over to it. Here is a great article dealing with teas for our birds. Perhaps there will be a blend that will help with seizure activity: https://birdtalksubscribe.com/blogs/news/why-tea-is-so-great-for-parrots I mentioned this FB forum to another new member, Joannie, here, which has great information for feeding your baby a healthy raw diet. It's a closed group, so you'll have to request access to it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AVIANRAW/?ref=bookmarks If you join, please go to their 'files' to read all about sprouting, raw diets and avian teas. First and foremost, I would make certain your grey begins receiving foods rich in vitamin A. They are prone to becoming A deficient. Yams and sweet potatoes are great for that. Also, red palm oil is awesome for them. Greys are very slow to warm up to people, with some taking months to years to fully acclimate to their new caregiver. Patience is everything! Looking forward to reading all about your new baby!

CAGS learn to say words later than TAGs. So by around a year they usually start sounding out words. When Fynn turned 5 months old, that's when an entire barrage of sounds, whistles and clicks came out of him!

Hmmm. Wonder if they're not available in NZ. Look up Aviatar harnesses. This one is in the states: https://www.amazon.com/AVIATOR-Pet-Bird-Harness-Leash/dp/B003SLODAG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543115189&sr=8-2&keywords=aviator+harness+for+cockatiel Only you'd want one designed for greys.
-
Welcome Tali! One recommendation I have for you is that you begin harness training your baby while she's young. That way, if you should decide on letting her have her wings back, you can then take her everywhere outside with you via harness. Once they're older they don't readily accept the harness. Babies are snuggly! I have a 7 month old baby plus 2 other adult CAGS.

Hi Joannie, Welcome to the forum! While I don't have direct experience with liver disease, I do have 2 place that you could look for some great answers. First, if you are on FB, there's a closed group that deals with raw nutrition, sprouting and the use of teas. It's called: Avian Raw Whole Food. Solid nutritional support for our feathered friends. There is a website that sells teas specifically blended for our avian babies. Unfortunately they sell out of everything all the time, so you might want to reach out to them to see when this tea is back in stock: https://greywoodmanor.com/products/clean-and-pure It should be a great one for your Sammy. If you haven't yet been on Avian Avenue, that forum has a lot of members whose birds are currently in liver failure. You might want to check them out, too. It's very sad that the owner of Avitech died so suddenly, leaving no plans in place for the company to move forward in her absence. With that being said, I'm also confident that Greywings will be of tremendous help, too!

Hi Robert, Welcome! What a beautiful setting for your birds! Absolutely lovely!

My heart is filled with such sadness. Lifting you and Jay up in prayer.

He's in the best of hands. Sending you prayers of strength, Maggie.
