  1. Hello and welcome Pam Pam!
  2. How tragically awful for you. My heart goes out to you. I hope you are able to find answers and that you will share them when you do. Don't torment yourself with coulda, woulda shoulda's though. Like Jeff, I'm thinking of having full bloodwork done as a result of your post. I think all of us ask ourselves if we are doing enough with the diet, the vet, etc. etc. In the long run, I think the forum members do the very best they can. As several of our members can tell you, it isn't always enough. God bless!
  3. The beak looks majorly better! Timber has a "bad toe" as well. The vet said it was probably like that from birth. It doesn't affect his mobility that I can tell and doesn't seem to bother him.
  4. What beautiful birds! Happy hatchday to the "flock"
  5. Oh, what a heartbreaking story! So sorry for your loss...
  6. LOLOL is that us $$?
  7. Loved the pic. They do seem to appreciate anything they have to work for more than what you put out right in front of them. Timber will even eat some things that he has to forage for when he won't touch them in his bowl.
  8. Cute pic! Yes, they all think we make handy napkins.
  9. I'm clucking right along there with you... I'm chicken to do it myself as well. I finally decided I just didn't need to know that much! When it is time for bloodwork, I will ask for the gender test. Pookie is beautiful
  10. Enjoyed it, thanks for posting
  11. Enjoyed the article. Thanks for sharing
  12. Thanks, I'll give it a shot!
  13. The cup didn't do it for Timber but a dark blue plastic straw does. Note that it has to be dark, blue and plastic, no other straw will work. He gets almost frantic in his play with it. He will throw it to the floor, hop out of his cage and chase it all over the kitchen floor. Pretending it is a baby snake perhaps? Who knows, but he loves it! When he is finished beating the straw into submission, he climbs back on the cage with it and scratches his head with a chewed end. I've tried to video a few times but by the time I was ready he was finished. I'll try harder!
  14. I agree completely that it is personality and who they are interacting with that determines how verbal they are. I thought Timber only knew a few words until I started running my birdie cam. His vocabulary was shockingly large. He is also very verbal if I am in another room or another part of the house, trying to lure me back I assume. What characters they are! That is part of their charm.
  15. Neat pic! I haven't tried sprouting quinoa. I do sprout the big bird from sprout people for Timber. Do you do the quinoa separately? If so, how long do you let it go?
  16. I really enjoy reading your updates as well. Inara's verbal ability is amazing. Timber says several words and phrases, but he doesn't interact with us verbally like that very much. I think he has the ability to do so because I've seen him manifest his intelligence in many ways, but he chooses not to for the most part. It's a pleasure to read about how others here interact with their fids
  17. LOL to tripping over our perches! Good way to put it
  18. What great news! I'm believing the blood work will all be good too. A positive vet visit is always such a relief (to me at least). Peck sure seemed to take it in stride. I will have had Timber for two years in June, and he goes to the vet for a nail trimming and exam every six months. With him, it never gets easier. He doesn't seem to appreciate his better mobility after the trim, and I swear he spends the next six months devising ways to NOT be trapped in the pack-o-bird for the next visit. He's such a spoiled brat! To top it off, I can always expect a "spite bite" just to express his displeasure after we return. He has the nerve to wait until after cuddle time, when he has his fill of face and beak scratching. On the way back to his cage, he will look straight at me, bend down and take a section of skin from my forearm, then march on to his cage and look very satisfied with himself. The ONLY time he does this is after a vet visit, ha. Greys have so much personality. I can't wait to see how your relationship with Peck grows and evolves, and to hear about his first encounter with Megan
  19. Very interesting! Thanks for posting, more information I have now that I didn't before... Just one of the things I love about this forum!
  20. Very good pic of a handsome grey (and a pretty wife) Good luck and God bless on getting him home!
  21. Haaaaa loved it!
  22. I feed Timber eggs regularly. His favorite are scrambled (nothing added, just the egg which I do in the microwave).
  23. That was a close call! On the brighter side, happy hatchday to Neyteri We have too many birds of prey to let timber out in the open. Just not worth the risk to me. I am blessed with screened porches on te back and the front.
  24. Yes, they are kindred spirits. Both have came a long way, and I like to sit and remember back to the early days. That's when I can really see how far they have came. So rewarding!
  25. Time just "flies" doesn't it! Beautiful pic
