Hello and welcome to you and Toby Thank you for giving Toby a new lease on life. Has he came out of the cage yet! As the others said, he will take his time adjusting to his new environment. I had to laugh when I read the list of "things" Toby likes to eat. They are just like we are that way, their favorites are what isn't good for them.

Sounds like you are making great progress! I haven't really made an attempt to get a harness on Timber because we have a large hawk population and I couldn't let him fly safely outside (not that he is much of a flier anyway but I'd like to let him try). You are doing great though!

This forum allows people to express their opinions in their own way. I find most of the members to be helpful and well-intentioned. When you read the posts on this or any other forum, you take what you want away with you and leave the rest. Some of us (myself included) have a sarcastic sense of humor that can be taken in the wrong way if you aren't familiar with or don't appreciate that style. If I feel like my toes are being stepped on (yes, it has happened) I just shrug and move on to the next post. I appreciate all the hard work the admins do that makes the forum possible. In my opinion, this forum is the most active and most useful for "grey people" on the internet.

Haaaaaa Steve! I am uncertain of Timber's gender too. He was sold to me as a male, so that is what I'll go with. If I ever see an egg, I will have to rethink that!

No help from me but I am following this. About the only time I get a bite now is when I try to remove Timber from somewhere he wants to be.

Sorry for your loss! It sounds like a broken heart may have played a part in his death too. I think that like some people, they just lose their joy and will to live after losing their mate.
