  1. Love the video! She already has you wrapped around her little talon, just as it should be
  2. Awww... what a beautiful baby! Your wife will quickly become accustomed to that "special" feeling!
  3. Good deal! Yes, it may take awhile but he will get there. It took Timber a month almost to the day to step onto his boing for the first time. Now he is on it about 50% of his out of cage time.
  4. That was a beautiful tribute to Cocoa! So glad you found some of your videos.
  5. Wow, how exciting! I wouldn't use the clorox wipes either because of chemical residue. As Ray said, vinegar is the safe alternative and works a lot better than I thought it would.
  6. When she is old enough to be on all those perches, you might want to make sure none of them sit above the other. If one perch is above another perch, I can guarantee that she will "drop a bomb" right on to the one below! Keeping them from being "stacked" helps you out with cleanup.
  7. Hello and welcome to you and Alex! As others have said, don't expect much after such a short time. My advice would be to read the "stickys" here on the forum. Their body language is subtle and you have to learn it. Alex has a lot of history that you don't know. It has shaped his responses and behavior, because they have excellent memories and don't forget anything. With time and patience, you can build a good relationship with Alex and he will come to trust you. When I say time, I mean months, not days. I am a rehomer too, and it took about 3 months for Timber to start trusting me. Good luck and God bless
  8. LOL to the "weiner!" It could have been much, much worse
  9. Timber doesn't spend a long time playing with a toy either. He will chew it, attack it, or whatever then move on. The only thing he will spend a lot of time on is corrugated cardbord. He likes to make confetti of it and will work on that for quite awhile.
  10. I've made arrangements with my son and his wife, who tend to Timber when I and the hubby are out of town. I think it is a good idea to plan regardless of age. With things like the tornadoes this year, the Amtrac derailment etc., you never know!
  11. Taste in toys is pretty individual. Some love wood to chew on. My TAG does not. His favorites are made of corrugated cardboard and plastic straws. He also enjoys foraging toys. Bells are pretty much a universal favorite. Timber also loves his stainless steel measuring spoons. They are bound together and he messes with those all the time. He also loves to pick at and chew on his rope perch. That has to be replaced frequently because he will chew it down to the metal. I don't have any input about a climbing net.
  12. Beautiful pictures! Like Nancy, I love that last one with the full wing spread. May 23 will be here before you know it!
  13. I'm in the same boat Acappella. Timber is fully feathered now but does not try to fly. I think he never fledged. He did startle a couple of months and actually flew UP to another area of this cage (from his rope perch, just a couple of feet), but other than that he doesn't attempt flight. I have had him 3 years and our relationship is good, but I'm not going to scare him or push him. He seems content and that's all that concerns me.
  14. Hello and welcome! I think you should choose the name you like best... Where are you getting her? A breeder, a pet store, where?
  15. As to how long it takes to figure it out, that depends on the bird. I would leave it in the cage and let him ponder it. The only thing I have to watch is keeping the treats inside fresh if Timber hasn't eaten them. As to food, Timber's fresh food comes out after 3 hours (what he hasn't eaten). His seed mix and nutriberries stay in all day. I also leave the fresh veggies on his skewer in the cage for more than the 3 hour limit. I'm not sure how others feel about that, but vegetables often sit outside and at room temp for long periods of time before they get to the grocer and I don't think there is a risk there. I'm talking peas in the pod type veggies here.
  16. Same here, I boil them. Then I either mash them or do a fine dice.
  17. I loved this one and couldn't resist posting!
  18. What great pictures! I can imagine your excitement, and can't wait to hear about her first day home
  19. We don't have a bird mart, but we do have a bird fair within driving distance about 3 times a year. Love them! I order so many things online, but there is no substitute for being able to see it in person.
  20. Love videos like this! Thanks for posting
  21. Wow, how many birds are in your flock?
