  1. Hello and welcome! You are in for an adventure if you haven't owned a grey before. Many of us have other pets. How well they get along depends on each animals temperament. Cats and dogs have a hunting instinct. It is stronger in some than others. Accidents happen quickly, so you will need to monitor them very closely if they are out at the same time in the same area. Good luck and God bless
  2. Timber is like Dorian, he likes his adding machine tape roll and any cardboard box. He is also fond of plastic straws. Other than that, forget it on the boys. Except for bells, can't forget the bells...
  3. Hello and welcome! Yes, please post some pics of Cookie and Molly when you can!
  4. LOL Acappella, I feel like I'm finally home (back among the crazies)
  5. What a neat video Sterling! That is the exact type pan (even down to the design) I use for Timber. In his case I set it in the bottom of his cage when he is throwing water from his water bowl on himself. He will often dive right in. He has to be in the mood of course. Neoow, that looks very interesting. I suspect it would take Timber a year of looking at it to venture near it though
  6. Looks great! I thought for a minute she was going to take the plunge and hop in for a bath...
  7. Awww beautiful baby! How much fun it must be to raise her!
  8. I rehomed Timber. For the first couple of months, scratches through the cage bars were all he was interested in, and that usually at bed time. As time passed and he started trusting me, we progressed to scratches outside the cage and later to cuddle sessions with him on my arm with his beak down again my stomach giving me access to his head and neck. It takes time, sometimes a lot of time (as in Miss Gilbert's case) but it is usually a matter of time and trust building. I might add though that all grey's are very individual. Some really enjoy scritches, others not so much.
  9. What a joy it must be to see Kilaya flying as God intended. Always love watching your videos
  10. I have plenty of space so I just put the cages side by side (touching). After Timber started spending more time in the new one than the old one, I removed the old one.

    Eggs

I'm not sure if I am correct, and would welcome input from others, but when I make birdy bread I just wash the eggs well before cracking, mash the shells up pretty fine, and add them to the bread. I'm assuming that after they cook in the bread at 350 for 30 minutes any bacteria etc. would be killed.
  12. Thanks Nancy, I'll keep that in mind!
  13. Thanks! Nancy, I just might have a question. We have a pic (sp) line and bandages changes going here so you never know!
  14. I haven't been around much for the last few weeks. My son had a car accident on August 27, and has had 18 days in the hospital since. He will recover, but it will take some time. He had a compound fracture of the left leg (hence all the hospital time because he was pulled from a creek and the bone got infected), plus a concussion and some cracked ribs. He is recuperating, but has another surgery in 4 weeks. I will be here more now I hope since we are home. I have did a speed read of all the posts I missed. I'm just posting this update because I always wonder when someone disappears who is usually active!
  15. LOL Sterling, my dad's favorite saying... "if you want something done right do it yourself." Sounds like you are like-minded!
  16. I see them! Wow, he's really looking like a macaw!
  17. Can't see it either, it says it is private.
  18. Oh that's wonderful! So happy for you and Miss Gilbert
  19. Neat pictures and good looking fids!
  20. Timber won't eat any type of pellet either. I am reduced to grinding them up and using them in birdy bread to get any down him. Variety is what matters. You will see several threads on the forum about members who don't use pellets at all. I make sure Timber gets lots of veggies, a rice mix I cook (with added red palm oil), a little fruit, a good quality seed, and nutriberries. He's picky so it's difficult.
  21. Hello and welcome! Beautiful birds
  22. I'll be very interested to see those photos. Sounds like a neat idea! I'm glad things are going well for you.
  23. I had to hang a new boing for Timber a few weeks ago. He still refuses to go on it, though it is identical in pattern and material to the old one (learned THAT lesson the hard way) he had shredded too much to use. I'm trying to remember how long it took last "change" but it was awhile. The others aren't just kidding when they say it can take weeks for them to accept new things!
