  1. Hi I need help please. I've taken my cags seed out of his bowl and replaced it with pellets. I've hidden his seed food all over his cage, some can be clearly seen and some not but he won't explore his cage just sits on top. He is the same on his play stand. Have you got any tips to get him to explore his cage? I'll really appreciate any help, thanks.
  2. He was outside on the decking on his play stand, it was really sunny and not windy. Today, though was windy and he was having a hard time keeping steady so he took him back inside. Is it bad to have him outside on his playstand?
  3. Please get that on video if you can I would love to see it!!
  4. I want to try and get the best out of Silver, it's slow going... he's not potty trained yet, I was waiting for him to be really comfortable around me which he is now after 2 months. Starting potty training this week, I'll be really happy if I can conquer this at least! If Alfie hates his back being touched a good tip I learned somewhere on the internet is that while you are petting him slowly move your other hand towards his wings, each time rub his wings more and more until it doesn't bother him at all. Don't pet him without rubbing his wings. He'll learn that he doesn't get head scratches unless he allows his wings rubbed too and will eventually accept it. Hope that helps.
  5. Yes he is, is that what got him excited do you think?
  6. Silver babbled away for an hour , the first time he's ever done it! I was afraid to go out and disturb him incase he stopped but I really wanted it on video. He hasn't done it since, will it get more frequent or was it just a fluke?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtXa6qB8Qm4&feature=youtu.be
  7. That was amazing, do you think you could safely do that outdoors?
  8. No he doesn't come out at all. There is only a small hatch opening on the cage, not a proper door. The top opens up and he climbs up there to stretch his wings. I have a perch that goes along there but haven't used it in awhile because he climbs up on top of my wardrobe and can't get back down. He jumped from the top of the wardrobe to the floor one day (which is how I got him out of the cage) so I'm afraid to let him get back up there. When he's out he won't accept treats or scratches so I can't make it rewarding for him except by putting him back in...
  9. Hi, I've had my Grey a few weeks now. He knows the 'Step Up' command but will only do it when he's not in cage. He will not step up at all when he is in cage, instead he puts his head down to be rubbed. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I took the cage outside today so I could give him a shower since I can't get him out. If I do get him out of cage he won't accept treats or scratches so I can't reward him for being out of cage. What should I do when on the rare occasion I can get him out? And how do I make him want to come out?
  10. Thanks, I did know the other rooms were there but thought it would be easier to just post here. I'll certainly do that in future, and you don't look like a bad guy
  11. He's getting the hang of target training and using that I managed to get two toys in his cage which previously scared him. Making good progress. He got bored with each toy after a few minutes is that normal?
  12. He's 9 months old and his wings are clipped. Now that's he's back in his cage he's territorial again. I think he only steps up when he's away from cage but I can't get him out and I don't want to try and force him.
  13. I got him to eat some banana and then he stepped up for me yay I let him wander around the floor and anytime i asked him to step up he did, and even before I asked... he's getting a lot more comfortable around me thank god. He flaps his wings a lot after I pick him up is that normal? He keeps pecking at things and then ducking his head like something is gonna fall on him haha, so I'm thinking of calling him Woody.
  14. I went for a male instead because he bonded better with me. When I got him home I opened the cardboard box and he climbed onto the rim and watched me putting his cage together. He stepped up no problem, let me pet him and put him in cage. Since he's been in cage he won't let me near. He ate some bananana from my hand last night but won't eat anything else and won't eat from my hand anymore. He hasn't eaten much of the food in his cage. Poor thing is really scared. Guess it will take awhile before I can get him to eat from my hand and until then I can't do much...
  15. Thanks for the advice everyone.
