Here's another pic of Timber, after bath, dry, in "leave me alone I'm resting" mode. The rest are his furry siblings.

Is it normal for greys to eat a lot one day then not so much the next? Timber was a real pig yesterday, eating everything in sight. Today he is just picking around and not eating much. I've noticed this before. His other behavior doesn't change, just his level of consumption. Thanks!

Timber here. I don't get out much. This new place is kinda scary. I stay in my cage a lot because I'm just not sure about this place yet. The big one with the fuzzy hair watches me like a warden. She won't let me get down on the floor and I want to walk around there like I did at my last place. She seems to think those four cats can take me. Ha! I give them the stink eye and they walk away. I hang from the bottom of my cage and call them, but when they come she makes me go back to the top of my cage. I just want to taste their noses, but she thinks I should be afraid of them! On the other hand, the food is better here and I've gained a little muscle I think. I've decided the fuzzy headed one is a pretty good head groomer so I allow her to get the places I can't reach. Here she come... signing off!

Timber sure enjoyed the video too! He loves whistling back at the birds in the video.

Can someone with experience answer this one? I am trying to sprout too, and I am unsure of what I should be sprouting, how much he should be given, how long you can leave it in the cage, etc. Thanks!

I just saw this thread. You are certainly not alone as you can see by all the posts! When I was 21 I was diagnosed with panic disorder. I'm 54 now (55 next month) and have been medicated most of that time. The last 25 or so years I've taken Xanax. I'm not a fan of medicating, but without it my hyperventilating episodes are horrible and frequent. So, it is what it is. While I'd prefer not to be medicated, you have to do a sort of risk vs. benefit analysis within yourself. I, for one, am must more productive and happy when I'm medicated. As others have said, there are things you can do to help yourself. For me, exercise helps and distracting myself with something involved helps (anything that gets my mind off my mind so to speak). The thing that helps the most though is prayer. I start praying and peace comes.

It's actually good to hear that this type of behavior is normal! My TAG will wait until I go around the corner into the bathroom then start talking up a storm. Of course, I can't make out what he is saying. When I come back around the corner, he'll say "Timber" his name and just look at me. Guess he isn't just tormenting me after all!

Wow, that's an impressive list! I would like to see pics too. I have to say I can't imagine how expensive it is to keep all those birds happy and healthy. I've had Timber (TAG) for less than two months and have already spent more on his "things" than I can believe. It's worth it to me, but I can't imagine having to provide for 12! Kudos...

Good information about the medicine being too small of an amount to cause aspiration. Thanks! Reading everyone's posts makes me feel a lot more prepared in the event that I ever need to know.

That's great! What a relief that Java is normalizing. I was thinking when I read your posts about how I would deal with giving Timber medication. I've been that route with my cats (no picnic) but I can't imagine getting anything down Timber's throat that he didn't want! Kudos to you for your success.

That is progress! I'm a newbie myself, but I can tell you what Timber is doing. When I got him (rehomed) six weeks ago, he was talking up a storm. The first day or two I heard a lot of phrases and words. Then, he almost stopped saying words at all, except for an occasional goodbye. He whistled and made sounds, but didn't say words. Three mornings ago, he started talking again while we were going through our morning routine, and he has talked up a storm each morning since. After almost six weeks of silence, he's decided to verbalize again. It seems that these birds do what they want, when they want to. I've just kept talking to him, even when he didn't have anything to say, along with whistling back in response to his whistling, clicking back at him etc. From what I've read on this forum, I don't think Wozzie's age limits his ability to learn new words and phrases. However, I've also seen many say that some birds just prefer making sounds and mimicking sounds to talking, so it is probably a matter of preference for the individual bird. I'm just going to keep talking and hope Timber keeps responding and learning new words, but it seems like it is a whatever will be will be thing!

I don't proof my posts particularly either and didn't mean to imply that anyone's grammar etc. bothers me. It's just something I notice. Content is what matters, and I've found the forum to be of tremendous help to me over the last few weeks. I did not intend to offend anyone and I'm sorry if I did.

Wow, that's horrible! I will say a prayer for Java (yes, I believe God answers prayers for animals since He says anything that is important to us is important to Him).

I loved the link Sarasota! I'm a bit of a grammar hound myself. Mine isn't always correct, I know, but I do notice incorrect usage. I realize that on forums, text messages, etc. people don't feel the need to proofread or be careful. I don't let that bother me as far as how I value the information they provide. I think it has a lot to do with my age, but the other day my son (age 25) said, "Why can't any of these people on facebook use a complete sentence?" That did my little heart good
