  1. Do you refrigerate the leftovers and serve them during the following days?
  2. Yes indeed. From what everyone says they are like toddlers that way. Say something you don't want them learning one time and they have instant pick up and recall on it.
  3. Good to know Dan, thanks. Timber only does it on occasion, almost like a stretch, wiggle and yawn at the same time. Sounds normal at any rate!
  4. Good video! Love watching them, thanks for sharing
  5. Yikes! Again, thanks for the info. When I first got Timber I took him to the vet the first day. She trimmed his feet with a dremel (his nails where so long they impaired his mobility a bit) and blunted the needle sharp point on his beak. Not much mind you, but she did that at my request. That was when his goal in life was to stick that beak in my flesh and it was razor sharp. I didn't know that you shouldn't do that until I read this post. She did say she was just going to blunt the tip a little so hopefully no harm done. I have a concrete perch in his cage that he usually sleeps on now, so hopefully the nails will take care of themselves (no noticeable growth so far). Now that he is used to us, the beak shouldn't be an issue either.
  6. Yes, my cats just don't seem that interested in Timber. He is the one most likely to start trouble. When he is out, he will hang from the bottom of the cage and try to get the cats to come over. No problem at all when he is in the cage. They do their thing and he does his.
  7. Timber won't eat Harrison's, so I'd say you are lucky your baby will! The consensus seems to be that it is the best.
  8. I can't express how bad I feel for you. What a shock and what a horrible thing.
  9. Great pics and a beautiful bird! Thanks for sharing
  10. After my experience with Timber and my headband the other night, I wouldn't discount anything. It amazes me how easily they are "disturbed" by seemingly minor changes. He also doesn't like my reading glasses. I have to take them off before I can pet him.
  11. I have seen Timber doing the same thing, but don't know what it means. He doesn't regurg, so I haven't been too concerned about it.
  12. What a pretty girl! I'll bet you are so excited
  13. Interesting, I need to take a look at those.
  14. Yikes, I am not sure about Timber's gender yet and it certainly isn't worth an injury! From what I've read 65 is a safe temp for a healthy bird so I guess he will do without it!
  15. Thanks for sharing. I don't watch TV much so hadn't seen it. That isn't a chance I'd be willing to take for fame, too much could go wrong.
  16. When I was on vacation, I was a bit surprised at how much Timber napped off and on throughout the day. I guess they are like cats and dogs, who never go into REM sleep thus need more sleep time? I remember reading that about "prey" animals. As judygram said, he can go from napping to alert in a second.
  17. LOL Heaven forbid he every sees me without my makeup!
  18. Good deal! I'm glad to hear he's better
  19. That was a real insight you had there Birdhouse, and something for all of us new "rehomers" to remember! I hadn't thought about words you know they understand having that kind of effect, but it makes total sense. Sure glad you figured it out and thanks for the heads up for the rest of us. I know Timber hates sticks, gloves and towels, but didn't think about it being the word itself.
  20. I suspect if the beard grew in gradually the grey probably wouldn't mind. If you disappeared for a month and came back looking like Grizzly Adams, I'll bet it would matter!
  21. LOL I'd love to know what is going through their minds! Glad to hear Timber isn't the only bird with the headband issue. He doesn't like my reading glasses either. He gives me the stink eye until I take them off.
