  1. Someone else probably knows more, I'm not a TV person. I know a friend told me he was always on the Oprah show hawking something he came up with.
  2. LOL! That's especially funny to me, because yesterday Timber, who is always trying to get the cats' attention, was on top of his cage. When one of the cats passed underneath, he grabbed an almond shell and threw it right at the cat. Hit him in the back. It was empty, so the cat just looked around like "what the heck" and strolled on. You could almost see the disappointment in Timber's eyes at the lack of reaction he provoked. They are so funny...
  3. Dave, he is some TV doctor (not sure what kind) that is always starting new fads. Just another quack in my book and I've never seen him myself, but many follow him and he is on tv, magazine, books etc.
  4. Ha, figures! I mean the price going up because of Dr. Oz
  5. It sounds to me like you have came a long way with Rosie! It is frustrating, but as everyone says on the forum, grey time moves soooo slowly... I don't think I would be able to get Timber to step up from inside his cage unless he was really anxious to go somewhere with me. As others said, that is his "safety" zone and he doesn't like to be messed with if he is inside. If he wants to interact, he comes out. It is troublesome knowing that in the event of an emergency I would probably have to towel him to get him out, but it is what it is. Hopefully that will change with time, but that remains to be seen. I have had him for six months. You are also very fortunate that Rosie doesn't bite when you are sticking your arm in there like in the first video. When Timber bites, it is a blood drawing, tear inspiring bite, not a warning nip. One of these days, I bet Rosie will take the plunge and bring that other foot along for the ride. It will most likely be from a cage door or perch though.
  6. Timmy is a beautiful bird! Thanks for sharing
  7. Hello and welcome to you and Cesar I have a rehomed TAG as well, but not much experience! Interesting about the glove and bonding. Timber is uncommonly attached to a bell in his cage and we've been having some issues lately. Something to think about!
  8. Mine is on for six hours a day, so I need to be sure and do that. Thanks
  9. LOL! Sorry to hear about the black eye though.
  10. Yes, sounds like things are going great and what a neat pic!
  11. Just made me think of something Jeff, when I got my light the instructions that the bulb needed to be replaced annually because it loses its effectiveness was repeated several times. Is this true? I marked it on my calendar and was wondering about that.
  12. Pretty, pretty, pretty! Thanks for sharing the pics. What beautiful birds.
  13. Hello and welcome! So interesting to see pics of them at that young age.
  14. Here's Timber getting ready to nap under his light. Like I said, he seems to like it!
  15. Good look with the video of talking! Timber won't do anything when I try to tape. Members here have suggested setting a camera up so he gets used to it which would be the way to go if I had one. So seriously, I hope you are able to get that video. I know many here are able to. Timber also does most of his talking when he is alone. They also practice new words and phrases when alone, which may be the mumbling you hear. They work at it until they get it right.
  16. ^^Good post, and important. When I brought Timber home, I didn't prepare and didn't know anything. I didn't realize I needed to and how wrong I was! I don't regret it for a minute, but I had no idea how much time, attention and cost was involved. Most of my free time focuses on Timber. I'm not sure I would have been able to give him the time he needs when my kids were young and my life was "busier." A lot of people make it work and I'm not trying to be discouraging. As murfchck pointed out, just make sure you are ready for it.
  17. Yeah! New words are always exciting
  18. Happy New Year to you Dave and all my friends on the forum. Wishing everyone a safe evening and a blessed New Year
  19. Yes, they learn quickly. When I say "gotta go to work" Timber makes for his door. He doesn't like it necessarily, but knows it must be done.
