  1. Good luck and God bless! 25 is young. I was still in school at 36 and am thinking of going back!
  2. Thanks anyway! I'd love to get some palm nuts to try. Pine nuts are one of Timber's favorites as well.
  3. I'm not sure where that was going, Nancy will have to address what she meant. However, I have a question. Where do you get your palm nuts? mysafebirdstore.com has been out since I've been checking!
  4. Off to a great start there Chris! As Dave said, time and calm are the key to adjustment in my mind.
  5. oooo cool! I need one of those since my bird's name is Timber. Just ship it on!
  6. Ouch! I can't imagine a macaw bite knowing how bad a TAG bite is. I guess the key is if his poop starts smelling different?
  7. Good deal! The grey forum motto... never give up
  8. Timber doesn't sing anything! I wish you all would post some videos of your birds' singing. Maybe it will inspire him.
  9. Loved the video! They are so funny when bathing. I use a 9 x 13 heavy glass baking dish for Timber, and he spreads his wings and dips as much of himself in as he can, head first. I sure wish I could get a video of it, but Timber just stands there and stares at me every time I get the camera, and even my phone.
  10. Hello and welcome Mike and Sammie! Post a pic when you get a chance so we can see your baby.
  11. After that experience, she may be off walnuts for awhile anyway! Poor Chloe..
  12. If you could get it to crack in half she would still enjoy digging the meat out. I try to crack Timber's enough to get him started. The walnuts are too big for him to get a good grip on (he's a TAG).
  13. Wow, almost worth riding a bike! I'm a rural area girl. Work is 25 miles away and door to door is a 30 minute commute. I feel for you!
  14. LOL Yes, they do! I have allergies so apparently I sniff a lot. I didn't really realize it until Timber brought it to my attention by doing it all the time!
  15. I have an hour from 5:30 to 6:30 AM with Timber. My husband gets home at 2 PM but doesn't let him out of the cage since he isn't able to watch him (he cleans house thank you Lord) but he is in the house and interacting vocally with him. I get home by 4:30 PM and then he is out until about 8 PM. On weekends, he usually has 6 to 10 hours out of cage with me each day. Not ideal, but you do what you can and he seems OK with it.
  16. I'm gone a lot too, and I wonder if Timber would like company (other than the cats). Then I think about how I feel I don't give him enough time as it is... and the brain goes round and round!
  17. LOL to the Droid! I use a different notification tone so Timber never hears that. I suspect he's like it if he did though.
  18. You should put that camera to use and enter the contest!
  19. She's beautiful! How are the other greys reacting? I have to say I'm in the middle of a near-miss (I think). There is a CAG for rehome about 20 miles from me and I'm fighting myself to keep from going to take a look.
  20. And don't forget the green stamps!
  21. I have to say I just had a terrible thought... I was wondering what Lulu will do if Java learns all those "interesting" vocalizations Gilbert is doing? Naaaaa...
  22. This isn't really special in the cognition department, but it was kind of funny. My husband has been trying to get Timber to "take" to him since we brought him home. He spends a lot of time "playing" with him, which I'm not sure Timber doesn't see as aggravation. Sometimes he seems to enjoy it (you know how they love attention) other times he seems annoyed. At any rate, hubby was putting his hand on the cage on one side then moving it to another area. Timber will run and grab the cage bars with his beak then run to the next location where his hand is. Believe it or not, he seems to think this is a game and enjoys it. At any rate, he tripped a bit on a toy in the bottom of the cage and missed. Hubby laughed, Timber said "asshole." Ha. That isn't a word he got from us, but apparently one he knows to use appropriately!
