Parrot Lady

yesterday and today not 1 sneeze it's a miracle lol , I haven't done anything different except only gave him a tiny amount of seed some TOPS pellets about a teasppon full and some Goldenfeast , all is the same but I cut his seed a little bit but I don't think that's it , I'am washing all his towels and I have 2 baby blankets I use for him at night , their washing now and I'am gonna put them through the rinse cycle a 2nd time I'am so glad he quit sneezing I was beginning to their was something medically wrong with him , hubby has him now and he is babbeling away lol he is starting to make some baby noises all is well and he is eating his veggies pretty good

now when I uncover his cage in the mornings he comes out whistling a tune lol not sure what tune it is but he must be feeling pretty good also tonight he was whistling up a storm and chatting away I would say he is getting very use to things around here but he still has a potty mouth when it comes to getting sprayed by a bottle he still hates that , I ordered the FeatherIn product for him and I also ordered a collar for him , I hate the old plastic collars I seen on birds but this one is a soft leather and made like a cape to go around him and he has started back eating his Intune pellets , he won't touch any pellets but those so some pellet is better then none for now , he is starting to eat more of his veggies to so that's a plus , o and I got the cage cover I had special made for him and it's really nice , I will get some pics tomorrow and post them and give everyone the name and site where I got his , for now it's bed time for me , just wanted to update everyone

I have spectram lighting on all my birds cages , I would take Smokey outside but it would have to be without a harness there is no way he is going to let me put a harness on him and without a harness I risk the possibility of him being able to fly away so what choices do I have

no his nostrils are not runny and no one is sneezing around here , going to call my vet on Tuesday and get him in asap before this drives me crazy

you could say I'am not impressed by the new vet we went to see today , my regular vet is away on vacation so I thought I would try this new vet I have heard he was a good vet well maybe with cats and dogs but not with parrots in my opinion even though he is certified avain vet it seemed like I knew more then him , Shamrock has been sneezing off and on for days he couldn't find anything wrong with him but he said he was a little dehydrated and he needed a beak trim , how can he be dehydrated when he had his afternoon feeding at 3:30 and his appointment at 5pm , scratching my head on that one and I didn't notice his beak being to long , if he keeps sneezing I'am going to take him to my usual vet next week , still wondering why he is sneezing so much , I have a blanket plus a towel and some news papers over the towel in his cage , could it be the news papers ? this is totally bugging me why is he sneezing and his nostrils aren't running so much on that vet visit he didn't ask or say anything about blood work or weigh him , that's was a last time vist

Afreind of mine told me about this site and I talked to the lady that runs it today on the phone, I'am going to order this Refeathering Kit and a collar for Smokey , he plcuks so bad I see tons of feathers every where and I have been spraying him with Feather In and Tropical Rain Mist nothing seems to be helping him so it's worthe a shot at least with the collar on he can't pluck any more and the collars are made of soft leather not plastic http://www.premiumpinecones.net/catalog/item/6960315/6969594.htm and she sells pinecones to

Smokey is a Boyyyyyyyyyyyy

he hasn't stopped yet he keeps plucking away at his feathers , he gets 3 showers a week plus I use Feather In and Tropical Rain Mist , I don't know what else to use on him ,also he has stopped eating his pellets again, all he eats is his goldenfeast and will not touch a pellet hasn't touched one in days , I have ran out of ideas for him , he is really a good bird and does get a lot of attention but I can't play with him 24/7 that's about the only way is to sidetrack him from plucking , I do most of the time but I work and I have to spread my time out and give attention to my other birds to , maybe I shouldn't have adopted him he is worse now then he was the day I brought him home , featherwise his personality is great he is such a sweet bird any ideas from anyone ??

I put him on top of his cage to play with some foot toys , I don't want him to be scared of foot toys , he stayed for a little while then started whining I think that meant I want down now so I took him down and sat with him for while , so here a few pics I got

that's what I'am doing mixing goldenfeast , nuts and the intune pellets plus some roudybush pellets, he weight yesterday was 392 and 390 the day before so he is back to almost normal weight , when he went for his vet visit he was at 410 so I'am not sure if that's his normal weight or not

I have a grey and a amazon my opinion is get the Tag , Rocky can be real challenging at times and he can be very moody, my grey is more of a layed back bird and definitely not as loud just my opinion , you decide which you think is best for you

he is really doing good, for the first time I put my hand in his cage and he stepped right up , usually I have to keep asking him to step up and he would run to the bars of his cage for a few minutes , food wise he isn't doing so great on eating pellets , he barely eats them but I'am still working on it but he does eat some veggies not a lot but some , helikes eating with Shamrock he will watch and see what Shamrock is eating then he eats some , like monkey see monkey do , I should have his dna results back by Thursday or Friday , real excited to se if we have a boy or a girl

we decided to name him Shamrock and he is really sweet but he is a baby and his personality may change, I know he won't be as cuddly as he is now when he grows up Eckies are not cuddly birds so I'am taking advantage of all the cuddles I can get from him lol aww that's nice Judy you and Shamrock have the same b-day he will be sweet and playful but not a real cuddler I will post updates as we go along

ok it's 8am and I didn't sleep very well kept thinking about that little green baby , he is stuck in my mind for sure soooooooooooo I'am going to go for it if I can soooooooooo scoot over Rocky , Opey and Smokey you have a new brother coming , hey I may end up with 4 boys lol have to see what the results of Smokeys dna comes back as or 3 boys and 1 girl lol

If all goes well I may adopt a baby Eckie tomorrow , that's if it all goes well , not sure on the exact price the breeder wants , she will only sell a baby to an experienced person that knows how to handfeed so I qualify their , have to talk to her tomorrow and find out some more information then I will let everyone know and and she has a male and female I want the male , I think he is 7 or 8 weeks old, will let everyone know tomorrow and post some pics if I get him

I weighed him this morning he is 374 last week he was 410 so he has dropped weight , I gave him fresh Goldenfeast Central , that's his seed mix with some pellets and I'am making the birds some veggies in a minute , he hardly eats any veggies, same for Rocky he eats a few bites then walks away , Opey is my only veggie eater , only going to give him vitamins from morning to late evening , when he goes to bed I will change and give him fresh water and only until he starts eating his pellets again then I will quit giving him any vitamins

I have noticed the last few days Smokey has not been eating his Intune pellets , his morning poop is fine but after that he has very small dark green droppings and they use to be a dark red from the pellets so that's another way I knew he was eating them, I'am going to add some vitamins to his water tomorrow until I can get him to eating his pellets again , I decreased his seed intake a lot so maybe that's why , my plan is to add back more seed and more pellets plus his golden feast , I ordered some Tops Pellets tonight so I can gradually add them and start takeing away the Intune pellets anyone have any ideas on how I can get him back to eating pellets ? going to try the conversation but going vedry slow with him , he is looking pretty skinny to , I have a weight scale so I will be weighing him every day any help appreciated ty
