In the first thread, she wrote the guy she got him from had cancer, could he have passed away and his kids filed the charges not knowing the balance had been paid? I don't know how your laws are over there but if that had happened over here, yes it would be a scam.

They must have come back sometime today. Pool filter was off cuz i didn't want them to get sucked up and boy is the top of the water full of feathers! Lol I need to check my garden better! My neighbor said she is, without a doubt, charging her friends entrance fees when they visit.

Ewwww, i am so excited for you! Let us know as soon as you can!

Welcome! I stay at home now and you would think cleaning up after these guys would be easier but, oh no! The sweeping and mopping is endless. I am sure my husband thought i was just lazy at first but then the first weekend when he was home with us he learned quickly. Lol i actually had broom blisters. They are worth it!!

I looked for a nest, have not seen one but who knows! Lol The ducks are the lesser of the evils! My koi fish are pretty big, the ones missing were about 6-7". Or lets say one meal and i charged the Egret $90.00 and he ate 5 times! The dogs can not go out unattended either as they are 4lb chihuahua give and take a lb and a blind minpin. I could picture the minpin running up to the hawk, wanna play???

So, i have had a pond in my back yard for years, 5+. I have had a pool in my back yard for 15+ years. I have 2 fids since January this year. For the last few months we have lost 5 koi fish to either a Egret or bird hawk as we have recently been seeing both. This morning i went outside and there were ducks inthe pool! We have never had these birds in our yard before, roadrunner yes, Egret no! Are my new fids advertising free room and board or what??! (Needless to say, our birds are not going out back anymore no matter how loud they scream!) I had a talk with the boys this morning and asked them to stop inviting their feathered friends over without asking us first!

I got the rabbit litter pans, one for Stewart and the larger one for Oliver. Stewart has used his but Oliver still likes his water dish. He seems to think if he fills his mouth with water while standing on his bowl, spreads his wings and then shakes his head he gets a great bath!!???!! Hopeful one day he will have an ah-ha moment with the big bath!

There are no words for what you are going through. I pray Nova is found safe. Do any other stores around have cameras or does your area have red light cameras? Maybe someone got video that way.

How absolutely adorable. I second Buzz as a name! Congrats! How is Sam taking it? I bet like a good big brother saying to himself " i can't pick on him, he has enough to deal with, did you see his hair?". Lol

Yeah! He loves those things! He is so mad at me right now for spraying him for his bath, i can give him one and be his hero! Oh, i was leaving for the store earlier and told the boys, " gotta go " and shut their door, he just started talking, i couldn't hear what he was saying but, after his talk he started laughing. It was so funny to hear that from him. I know it wasn't Stewart cuz he was making his noises too. -

I just worry that these are the disease signs. I need to stop reading about it, lol. Do you know if the bamboo kitchen utensils are safe? Oliver tore apart one or three of these. He loves them but i worry they are treated with something but then again they are food safe. See, i think tooooo much! Lol -

Bad feather day yesterday. Found 3 on the ground of his. Trouble is, is he pulling bc they are damaged or pulling to pull? I read that with this pdd, he will pull out feathers also regurgitate which he has been doing a lot of after meals as of late. He just puts his foot in his mouth and pumps his head up and down. Hubby says he is fine and i am just working myself up, but i can't help but worry. It was a dumb idea but went to see the lady i got the boys from to show her some updated pictures. She freaked out saying how much weight he has lost, how his breast bone was not showing that much when she gave him to us.... Really? I went right to his second day picture to show her that, yes, yes it did stick out that much and more. She called last night but i didn't have the strength to be nice so i ignored it. She has one baby grey left that she is keeping, right now he looks healthy. Also had another older grey, 5 i think she said, that she bought back from someone. Poor girl had her toes on one foot but no talons (nails, i am not sure i am using the correct terms). That seems to be normal with hers, Mary Ann is missing some too. She said she has more babies coming from another pair she has. -
How cute! Great pictures!

I am so happy for you two! I don't think i could have lasted that long waiting, you did great! She looks so happy!

I got a left footed one i guess. He eats with his left but steps up with his right and since 80% of the time he is eating i going with left! Lol

Wow, been a few days since i have had time to write. We have had the boys out since Friday morning, only going to their cage to sleep. What a handful, but boy has it been fun. The weather has been beautiful and it has sure made a change in them, they are so playful! There have been people over every night and they are right there in the center of everyone, Oliver just wanted on the ground and walked around climbing things and doing his best Stevie Wonder. This morning after breakfast, he was charging all his toys and then me. You could see in his eyes that he was playing thank gosh otherwise that would have been scary! He is still taking his steam baths but getting the drops in his nose just isn't happening. He is still breathing loud so more than likely he will be going into the vet to get it flushed. Yuckie. -
Welcome! I do not think your gender will be an issue. Name change is tuffer. I agree that if he knows his name, don't confuse him by changing it. You may be able to add to it though, add a middle name or something in front of it, after some time maybe you could drop the old name.

My best for you and your new fid! In January of this year i rescued a 5 yr old grey and a 7 yr old macaw. The macaw, as sick as he was, settled in far quicker than my grey. These guys are stinkers about change and all you can really do is let them let you know when they are ready. If you have not taken him to an Avian vet, please do so first. Regular vets have no experience with birds and just by looking can not determine if a bird is well or not. Talking softly and with a positive attitude will help him to understand you are there to help and love them. Also good food, but when they throw it at you, don't assume they don't like it because what they throw one day, they will love another! If you can, put on the tv or radio for him also, it calmed mine down to the plethera of activity he wasn't use to. ( my thread is in the "other bird" forum, Oliver b&g macaw, Stewarts new brother. We gave him the name Oliver bc his head looked like a stuffed olive when we first brought him home. He had one row of green feathers and skin on his head, his tail and some wing feathers and that was it. ) Please ask any questions you want. Everyone on here has helped me in way or another. You will get the answers you seek if it can be answered by us non avian vet people!

Having these guys are a blast no doubt! Each day is something new. My day of pure enjoyment will come the day Stewart starts talking. He is still adding sounds everyday, yesterday was laser sounds. Today he started putting his sounds to my words like kiss, he makes a kiss sound. I asked if he wanted some more water and he made water pouring sounds. He is smart as a whip, i can whistle something to him and by the next day he'll just about have it down and i am talking weird songs that i know he wouldn't have already heard, Popcorn and Doris Days Whatever Will Be Will Be. I never thought that Oliver would be talking before Stewart though, but i am using that to stir Stewart, lol. Since Oliver is insistant on taking over Stewarts stuff, including his cage and now stand, i am trying to get him to say "help, go home Oliver" but i think i need to give it up and try for a siren sound! Lol -

Thanks! The tornado jumped over my nieces house in Arlington and her sons school was hit but all the kids were safe. My husband is a part of a group out cleaning up in Arlington today, no cell phones allowed. As bad as this was, not one death has been reported so far. These cities were on their game, we were all aware of the storms and the severity of them hours before they hit. Kuddos to the weathermen! I didn't see the weather link, did i miss something? -
Doug, i asked those questions and got no reply. I agree that KL31 will do what he/she wants to do with or without us but i believe this person also needs to be aware of the damage to this bird that will happen if he/she encloses it as stated. Physical health AND mental. This is a sad time for this bird because unless given the life it deserves it will only go downhill from here. It is us humans who took them from the wild to be our companions and it is up to us now to give them as much normality as we can and a life in a plastic bubble is not a life for any creature. If this person has to go to this extent to keep this bird in a living room, do you really think that they will be able to take the bird out of the bubble to play? It may flap its wings or God forbid poop if let out. I am sorry but this bird deserves a chance at a real life, as complete a life we can give to them. No one has even mentioned lighting, will this bird get a full spectrum light for the sunshine it needs, as fake as it is? Will it heat up his plastic bubble? I am trying to not offend this person in any way so they do not run away, but pacifying this person with what they want to hear instead of the truth of the damage they will be inflicting on this bird will not help anyone.

Yesterday was stressful to say the least. Heavy storms and tornados all around us. We got lucky and were not hit. My wonderful, wonderful neighbor came over when she heard our sirens to help me with all the animals. 4 dogs, 1 cat, 3 fish and 2 birds. I had already put all their food and extra water in the "safe" room along with their travel cages some toys and leashes, flashlights and my comfort bottle of wine. Lol The birds did wonderful and stayed on their stands, i think they knew of the impending weather and understood the need for co operation! My dogs who normally growl at each if one gets too close stayed together in two dog beds. Watching the news this morning and i feel so blessed that we are all okay. It was the first time, according to the news, that both Dallas and Ft Worth has tornado emergency evacuations at the exact same time.
