OMG how horrifying !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont anticipate anything like that to happen where I live. However that is just terrible to hear I think it would be fun to enclose a portion of the porch for this but then the only down side is no grass for them to enjoy ... hmmmm

Marco has several "play areas" that are hers. From her cage playtop, to her "toy box" to her tree stand to her boing. Each area has different toys for her. There are so many things round the house you can use as many have suggested or are relatively cheap to buy from coffee filters to egg crates to corn husks to make toys for Isaac. Some of Marco's first toys were bottle caps of various sizes and not just hung in her cage but used as foot toys as well. Sometimes she just likes to toss them out of her toybox BUT it keeps her busy for quite some time. One of Marco's alltime favorite chew toy was a tiny shoe (key chain with the chain part removed) it looked like a little converse hightop shoe .. .she would destroy that thing and not stop until it was done. Just ideas

I keep Marco either HIGH atop her cage (there is a play gym on it and a tall perch) or keep her in her cage if they get to running round. She hasn't nipped them but I make sure to tell them not to stick their fingers in her cage etc. I think if they were around more, she might get used to them but they only come over maybe once a month then get to running in and out and the commotion shes not used to so she gets nervous and even flighty. She'll take off into the kitchen. If I pick her up in a nervous state, she'll even bite me where as, she never ever bites me. Heck the dogs too close to her make her nervous !!!!!! Im sure if your children spend the time with a baby you might not have this type of situation. I hear there are many birds out there that respond to numerous people in a family or household. Marco loves me, tolerates hubby but has bit him pretty good more then once, and likes my friend but once again my friend has put in alottt of time to gain her trust infact Im amazed what he can do with her. Good luck on your decision. Course my friend has a sun conure just a baby still. She is alot smaller then Marco but she is soooooo so so loving and just wants cuddled and tucked up in my hair or behind my neck or in my friends hoodie. Complete opposite of Marco and anyone can handle her just fine at any time.

super great idea

not sure how big your family is or if you have children.... definitely research. Marco is a great family bird but definitely not everyone in the family can touch her and I don't let the grand kids (6 & 4) anywhere near her she gets nervous

Marco just turned 3 on December 23rd. Shes a Christmas baby! But shes only really been seriously talking consistently for the last year to year and a half. Now shes just rapidly learning things. We don't really babytalk her persay, but we are constantly talking to her, like non stop. She seems to pick up whoevers voice has taught her the word or phrase. Then shes stuck on that word for days and weeks then just as fast as it came on it passes and shes onto a new word. She just absorbs things like a sponge!

Marco has completely amazed me lately. It seems within 3-4 days ... shes picking up new words. We ofcourse taught her ho ho ho merry Christmas and she just blurted out Happy Birthday which is something Ive worked on for the last few days as well. Not to mention the "whatcha doing fatty?" and heifer which is what I tend to call her since she LOVES to eat all the time. Sooooo that is all within the last month shes learned ontop of atleast 100 other words. Seems the older she gets the smarter it never ceases to amaze me. She also recognizes the phone it doesn't even need to ring I just have to put it up to my ear and shes saying "Hello" its just crazy!~ God I love this bird!!!!!!!!!
