Thank you so much to both of you. I called my husband at work and broke the news to him. He was definitely upset, but I know he is trying to keep some composure as he is the GM, and has to keep his game face on at all times. We have plans to bury her tonight. She was the sweetest little girl, and I know she had a good life. She was a spoiled little Gecko Unfortunately they dont live long lives like our feathered friends, and that is a difficult fact to accept. You invest so much love into these creatures, and wish they could live forever. It is a major wake up call when your time with them ends, but I am happy that we gave her the best life a lizard could possibly have.

That is definitely wonderful! I do have some great breeder friends, and am a member of the Charlotte Caged Bird Society, but even if they did breed AG's, no one had anything available at the time, and I was tired of waiting LOL!

Well, I went to the bathroom, and on my way there is our large tank that holds our Crested Gecko named Isis in it. I saw her sitting there, and just figured she was out and about, since they are nocturnal. I looked at her a little closer, and noticed her color was pretty dark...So, I put my hand in the tank, and when I touched her she didn't move at all. I knew then that she was dead. It must have been recent also, because she still looked very much alive. This is kind of hard on me, and those that have never kept reptiles may not understand. My husband and I got her together, we picked her out together, we named her together... she was kind of our little marriage mascot. We got her right after we got married. The worst part; my husband doesn't know yet. She was HIS pet. He loved her. He always gets her out, and talks to her. My husband is asleep. He has to be up for work at 6:30am. I dont want to wake him and tell him now...he needs his sleep, and I know if I tell him know he will be upset... I have put her little body in a small box, and I wrote her name on it with a heart... I will let my husband decide what he would like to do with her. I am REALLY loathing breaking this news to him... R.I.P ISIS- You will be missed

CAG Escape Artist out of food and water access doors - how to stop
DawL replied to Einsteins_Mom's topic in Cages & Homes
I didn't understand this post fully....were you saying that the bird is left out without supervision with the dogs, or that the bird escaped all the time? It was hard to tell for me what you meant. -
Aww thank you! I just hope I can make him as happy as he will make me, and I am looking forward to giving him the life that he deserves. I talked to the lady that has Barnaby earlier, and I will be meeting her at 3pm on the 22nd to get Barnaby. I am so excited to welcome him into my home, and I plan on doing everything I can to make this transition as easy as possible on him. I will definitely update this thread on Thursday after he is home.

Well that answers my question! I was going to ask if you got Chickie locally, or if you got her from a breeder online, ect. It must have been nice to be able to go visit Chickie while she was growing, and being weaned. I wish I could do that with Grimm, but I am thankful to be getting him from such FANTASTIC breeders, and grateful for my updates on him every Sunday. It will be SO CRAZY when I go get him at the airport, I can't even begin to imagine how excited I will be. I think everyone that was posting waiting on their baby to come home has since gotten their baby. LUCKY! LOL Hopefully time will go quickly, and he will be home soon. Give Chickie a scritch from me!

Thank you guys, they are everything to me Believe it or not, my cats were 3 weeks old, and almost dead when I got them both They were INCREDIBLY skinny, and I couldn't tell you the last time they might have had food. Their mother had been hit by a car, and they were outside in the summer all alone with no food. I took them home with me, and they look like completely different cats now! Believe it or not, they are the same age! For some reason my female (her name is Fatty Fat Cakes) is just so small. The vet said she is perfectly healthy, but just a small size, and will remain that way. She will always be my 12 week old kitten!

Every new mommy worries. It reflect your love, and your deep care for your baby. I just love Chickie. She is so beautiful and photogenic. I can't wait to get Grimm home, and then we can worry together!

He is gorgeous, and I love reading about his progress with you. Thank you for sharing this story.

Gawww! That is so cute! You sound like such a good Mommy Tilly, I am glad we could put your mind at ease. Please don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you need. There are so many nice, knowledgeable people here that would be more than willing to answer them for you.

Hahahahaha! I love those seagulls! How cute!

Glad to share everyone! It is so true, and so funny all at the same time. Gotta love those sweet, feathered babies!
-
Hahahaha! Isn't that the truth! Everything is mine as well...UNLESS I get tired of it, it breaks, or is acting up in some way, like the kids for example...when they act up, they are HIS! LOL

That is awesome! Looking forward to those recipes Jim!

First of all, a big welcome to you and your feathered friend! Now, you said it yourself Tilly is molting. It is perfectly normal for her to lose both large and small feathers. The feather does not look chewed or mutilated in any way, and I am assuming Tilly does not have a bald spot, or anything of the sort. Those are the kinds of things you want to keep a look out for that would point to an issue.

If I like it, it's mine. If it's in my beak, it's mine. If I can take it from you, it's mine. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine. If I'm chewing something, all the pieces are mine. If it looks just like mine, it's mine. If I saw it first, it's mine. If you have something and put it down, it automatically becomes mine. If it's something that I can reach, it's mine. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

I just want to say, you know your grey better than anyone in this world does...if you EVER feel like he may be acting "just not right", get him into the vet asap. As I sure everyone here knows, birds hide their illness very well, and sometimes when they finally let it show, or can no longer hide it, it could be too late. If he ever acts in a way that makes you feel uneasy, I think at the very least, a call to your avian vet is in order. Good luck!

My parrot has a bald patch, i'm really worried.
DawL replied to Gandalf the Grey's topic in Health Room
I would definitely follow the advice Dave gave you, and also keep an eye on her. If you happen to catch her in the act of plucking (not saying that is what it is) then a visit to your avian vet is in order. Good luck! -
Just wanted to say that I am pretty sure the whole "I am her husband" comment was meant to be a joke, and I don't think it was meant to reflect the relationship between him and his bird. I think it was meant to be funny, and to refer to his AG being a one person bird (a lot of them are). I didn't read anything in the OP that reflected the relationship between himself, and Jess, aside from the statement of her being a one person bird. I also didn't read anything about him not being able to maintain a parental relationship with Jess in the OP. Could be I have not seen other posts from Steve, I am just going by this post itself. I can't assume there is ANY relationship issues, or behavioral issues on the part of the parront, or parrot. Steve- It sounds like she is molting to me as well. A lot of birds molt late fall, early winter. I wouldn't worry about it unless you catch her plucking, or you come home and she has a bald spot. Just give lots of love, and lots of kisses! Sounds like she is doing wonderfully.
